How to charge the Braun Grille Cruzer 5 Clean Shave shaver?

Plug the device (turned off) into a power outlet using the power cord. The first charge must last at least 8 hours. The green indicator light in the on/off button stays on while charging and turns off when the battery is full. You can also use the device plugged into the mains even if the battery is empty.

How to adjust the cutting length with the comb?

The special hair comb offers 8 settings from 3 to 24 mm. To adjust the length, slide the cutting length selector on the comb to the desired graduation (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21 or 24 mm). Attach the comb to the device (turned off), then turn it on to cut.

How to clean the shaver?

Turn off the device and unplug it. For dry cleaning, use the provided brush to clean the cutting head and trimmers. For wet cleaning, rinse the head and trimmers under running warm water, opening the cutting head to 90° if necessary. Always oil the cutting head after wet cleaning with the provided oil.

Can I use the shaver without the comb?

Yes, you can remove the comb for a close cut. When using the device without the comb, move the cutting head parallel to the skin against the direction of hair growth. For contours, hold the device vertically. Do not force and avoid jerky movements.

What to do if the shaver doesn't charge?

Check that the power cord is properly connected and that the socket works. Try charging at a temperature between 15 and 35°C. If the problem persists, contact an authorized Braun service center. Do not attempt to repair the device yourself.

How to maintain the battery in good condition?

To maintain maximum capacity of the rechargeable batteries, fully discharge the device during use approximately every 6 months, then recharge it to full capacity. Avoid exposing it to temperatures above 50°C.

Is the device waterproof?

The shaver can be cleaned under running water, but always unplug it first and do not immerse it completely. The power cord is not waterproof. Make sure the device is dry before reconnecting it.

What does the green indicator light mean?

The green indicator light integrated in the on/off button shows the charge status: it stays steadily on while charging and turns off when the battery is fully charged. It does not blink.

How to claim the warranty?

The warranty is 2 years from the date of purchase. For any claim, return the device with the warranty certificate to your retailer or to an authorized Braun Service Center. In France, you also benefit from the legal warranty for hidden defects (articles 1641 and following of the Civil Code).

Charging

The best environmental temperature for charging is between 15^ and 35^ . Do not expose the appliance to temperatures higher than 50^ for extended periods of time.

• Using the special cord set (6), connect the appliance to an electrical outlet with the motor switched off.
• When charging for the first time or when the appliance is not used for a few months, leave the appliance to charge continuously for at least 8 hours.
• Once the appliance is completely charged, discharge it (until empty) through normal use. Then recharge to full capacity. Maximum capacity will only be reached after several charging/discharging cycles.
• A full charge provides at least 40 minutes of cordless operating time. This may vary depending on the hair you are trimming.
• If the rechargeable batteries are discharged, you may also use the appliance by connecting to an electrical outlet via the special cord set.

Charge indicator

The charge indicator integrated in the on/off switch (4) shows the charging status of the batteries. During charging the symbol in the on/off switch lights up permanently green. When the battery is fully charged, the charge indicator turns off.

General hair cutting information

• The hair should be clean, well combed, tangle-free and dry.
• If you are not used to clipping hair, begin with a higher setting and then reduce the setting to avoid cutting more hair than desired.
• Use a slow and controlled movement. Do not force the clipper through the hair faster than the clipper can cut it.
• In between, shake or blow off the hair from the clipper. If too much hair is caught in the distance comb, remove it.
• To control your progress during clipping, regularly comb the hair in the style desired.

• Place the hair clipping comb (1) on the appliance with the appliance turned off.
• Press the length selector (3) and slide the hair comb up to your desired hair length. Possible length settings (mm):

• Turn the appliance on by pressing the on/off switch (4) and cut hair to the desired length.

• Remove the clipping comb.
• To start clipping, turn the appliance on by pressing the on/off switch (4).
• Move the cutting system only in a parallel position to the skin (A, cutting hair). Slowly and carefully move the appliance against the direction of hair growth.
• Only when trimming contours the cutting system should be positioned vertically (B, trimming).
• Make sure you do not tilt the appliance while it is touching the skin (C).
• Avoid jerky movements while cutting.

Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures better trimming performance.

Cleaning with the brush

• Switch off the appliance. Open the cutting system by pressing with the thumb against the trimmer from the front side. It opens by ca. 45^ .
• Using the brush clean the trimmers and the space behind the trimmer (inside the housing).

Cleaning with water

• Switch off the appliance and rinse the head and the trimmer under warm running water. You can also rinse the opened cutting system.

Keeping your appliance in top shape

To keep the cutting system working properly, oil it with light machine oil after each use, especially when cleaning under running water (D).

Preserving the batteries

In order to maintain the optimum capacity of the rechargeable batteries, the appliance has to be fully discharged (by operating) every 6 months approximately. Then recharge the appliance to full capacity.

This product contains rechargeable batteries. In the interest of protecting the environment, please do not dispose of the product in the household waste at the end of its useful life. Disposal can take place at a Braun Service Centre or at appropriate collection points provided in your country.
