Frequently Asked Questions - Rajada II 60cm Becken

How do I install the Rajada II 60cm range hood?
Installation should be done by a qualified professional. Ensure the hood is mounted at least 65 cm above electric cooktops and 75 cm above gas cooktops. Use the included template to mark drill holes, secure the mounting bracket, and connect the ductwork. For recirculating mode, install a charcoal filter.
How often should I clean the grease filter?
Clean the aluminum grease filter every 2-3 months or when the filter indicator (if available) lights up. Wash it by hand with warm soapy water or in the dishwasher at low temperature. Let it dry completely before reinserting.
How do I replace the charcoal filter?
Charcoal filters are used in recirculation mode. Replace them every 3-6 months depending on usage. To replace, remove the grease filter, unlock the charcoal filter clips, and slide out the old filter. Insert the new one and lock it in place.
The hood is noisy. What can I do?
Noise is normal at higher speeds. Ensure the hood is properly installed and not rattling against cabinets. Check that the ductwork is not obstructed and that the filters are clean. If noise persists, contact Becken support.
Can I use the hood without ducting?
Yes, the Rajada II 60cm can be used in recirculation mode. You will need to purchase a charcoal filter (sold separately) and install it. The air is then filtered and returned into the kitchen.
How do I adjust the fan speed?
Use the control panel on the hood. Typically, there are 3 speed buttons (low, medium, high) and a power boost button (if equipped). Press the desired speed to start; press again or select another speed to change.
What should I do if the lights do not work?
First, check if the hood is powered on. If using halogen bulbs, they may need replacement. Turn off power, remove the lamp cover, and unscrew the old bulb. Replace with a compatible bulb (e.g., 2 x 20W halogen or LED equivalent). For LED modules, contact service.
Is a charcoal filter included with the hood?
No, the charcoal filter is usually not included as standard. It must be purchased separately if you intend to use the hood in recirculation mode. Refer to the manual for the correct model.
How do I reset the filter cleaning indicator?
After cleaning or replacing filters, press and hold the filter reset button (usually a dedicated symbol) for 3-5 seconds until the indicator light goes off. If your model does not have a manual reset, consult the manual.
What is the recommended distance between cooktop and hood?
For electric cooktops, the minimum distance is 65 cm; for gas cooktops, it is 75 cm. Always follow local building codes. Incorrect height can reduce performance and cause safety hazards.

This appliance is in compliance with the directions EMC 89/336/EEC revised, on protection against radial interference, 92/31/EEC and 93/68/EEC.

2. Use and Operation

2.1. Installation

  • The appliance has been designed as exhausting hood (external exhausting) or filtering hood (internal recirculation).
  • The appliance has to be installed at a minimum height of 650mm above electric, gas or mixed cookers.
  • Do not connect the discharge pipe to a flue in which warm air circulates, or which is used to remove fumes of the appliances which are powered with a different energy from the electric one.
  • Pay attention if an exhausting hood and a burner or a fireplace depending on the air of the room and which are powered with a different energy from the electric one work at the same time, because during the aspiration the hood takes the air away from the room. That air is necessary to the burner or the fireplace for the combustion. So, for a safe operation, provide a proper ventilation of the room.
  • For the external exhausting, conform to the laws in force in your country.
  • The appliance must be placed in a way that the supply plug is accessible.

2.2. Electrical Connection

  • The appliance is built in class II, so no wire has to be connected with the earth terminal.
  • Connect the cord to a socket or a double pole switch.

Note: If the lamps do not work, make sure they are well tightened when mounting the hood in the lower part of a hanging cupboard.

2.3. Mounting the Hood on Suspended Furniture

  • Drill 4 holes of with a diameter of 6mm at the bottom of the hanging cupboard, as showed in the drawing “Fig. 1”.
  • Attach the hood to the cabinet with 4 screws appropriate to that kind of cupboard.

  • The appliance is provided with 2 air outlets which are in the upper part and in the other on the back. Both of them can be used according to your requirements.

  • In the package there is a connecting ring (C), which is to join the connecting pipe.

2.4. Mounting the Hood on the Wall

  • Drill 2 holes on the wall, which correspond to the position (B) of the drawing "Fig. 1".
  • Hang the hood to the 2 holes by using the screws and dowels with expanding plug appropriate for that kind of wall (ex.: concrete, plasterboard, etc.).
    ■ Definitely fix the hood using the 2 security holes (Z).

2.5. Changing from Exhausting Hood to Filtering Hood

In order to make this change (possible also after the use of the exhausting system), you may have to purchase a set of active carbon filters. Active carbon filters are necessary to purify the air that will be released in the room. Filters are not washable: they cannot be regenerated and have to be replaced at most every 4 months. The saturation of the activated charcoal depends on the time of use of the hood, on the type of cooking and on the regularity of cleaning the grease filter.

  • The filter (C) has to be applied to the aspirating group, which is inside the hood.
  • Fit in the centre of the group with it and turn it 90 degrees until you hear the stop click to lock it.
  • Remove the grill (G) to carry out this operation.
  • Close with the appropriate covers the upper and back air outlets.
  • Turn the small lever (L) from position (A) to position (F) - this way the hood is ready for the filtering function.

2.6. Use and Maintenance

It is advisable to let the appliance work for 15 minutes after cooking the food in order to completely remove the fumes.

In the frontal part of the appliance there are an on/off switch for the light and a switch to select the working speed.

The effective functioning of the hood depends on the regularity with which the maintenance operations are carried out, in particular those of the anti-grease filter. The anti-grease filter, which is on the grill, has the function of catching the particles suspended on the air, so it is subject to get frequently clogged, according to the use of the appliance. In any case, at most after two months, it is necessary to clean the filter by doing the following procedure:

  • Remove the filter from the grill and wash it with a solution of water and neutral liquid detergent, allowing the dirt to soften.
  • Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, allow it to dry without twisting and apply it to the grill.

Notes: If the appliance is provided with a metal filter, it can also be washed in the dishwasher, dried and reapplied to the grill.

In case you do not follow the washing instructions of the filter, it could burst into flames.

Clean frequently all the deposits on the fan and on all other surfaces using a cloth moistened with methylated spirits or neutral and not abrasive fluid detersives.
