Frequently Asked Questions - TFM 190 Thermex

How do I install the Thermex TFM 190 range hood?
Installation must be performed by a skilled electrician in accordance with the specifications given by Thermex and local legislation. The minimum distance between the gas stove burner and the underside of the hood must be at least 65 cm. For electric cooktops, Thermex recommends 50-70 cm.
What is the after-running function and how do I activate it?
The after-running function allows the motor to continue running for a set time (5, 10, 15, or 20 minutes) after you turn it off. To activate: hold the light button until all buttons blink, then press the button corresponding to the desired time (on/off extraction for 5 min, step 2 for 10 min, etc.). The motor will run at the selected speed and stop automatically.
How do I clean the grease filters?
Remove the grease filters by pulling on the filter locking mechanism. Clean them in warm soapy water with a soft brush, rinse, and dry. They can also be washed in a dishwasher, though slight discoloration may occur. Frequency depends on cooking fat: every 3 weeks for margarine, every 2 weeks for liquid margarine, weekly for oil, and 2-3 times per week for deep fat frying.
How do I replace the recirculation filters?
Recirculation filters (activated carbon) cannot be washed and must be replaced when needed, at least 2-4 times per year. To install: remove the grease filters, turn the new recirculation filters onto the flanges on the sides of the motor, then replace the grease filters.
What should I do if the hood is not working?
Check the power supply: ensure the hood is plugged in and the circuit breaker is on. Disconnect the power for about 5 minutes and reconnect to see if the fault clears. If not, disconnect the power for one hour and try again. If the problem persists, consult the troubleshooting chart in the manual or contact Thermex service.
Can I use the Thermex TFM 190 without ducting to the outside?
Yes, the hood can be used in recirculation mode. You must install two recirculation filters (activated carbon) which are not included but can be purchased separately (part no. 535.05.6200.9). The air will be filtered through grease and carbon filters before being recirculated.
What are the speed settings on the control panel?
The control panel has buttons for light on/off, extraction on/off, and four speed levels (1-4). The motor always starts at speed 1. To change speed, press the desired speed button. The motor can only be turned off from speed 1 by pressing the extraction on/off button.
How do I clean the exterior of the hood?
For steel surfaces, use a damp cloth with detergent and finish with a metal polish. For lacquered surfaces, use a damp cloth with detergent or washing-up liquid. Never use abrasives. Clean frequently to avoid grease stains.
What type of light does the hood have?
The hood is equipped with an LED light that can be turned on and off independently of the motor using the dedicated light button.
What is the warranty on the Thermex TFM 190?
Warranty details are not specified in the manual. For service requests within the warranty, you will be asked for proof of purchase (sales receipt). Keep the receipt and have the model, type, and serial number ready (located on the chassis plate). Contact Thermex service for support.
