☐ The pneumatic angle grinder should be configured, set, and used exclusively by correspondingly qualified and trained operating personnel.
☐ This machine may not be altered. Alterations may compromise the effectiveness of the safety measures and increase the risks for the operating personnel.
☐ The safety instructions may not become lost – give these to the operating personnel.

☐ The pneumatic angle grinder must be inspected regularly for the clear legibility of all rated values and labels as demanded under this section of ISO 11148. If necessary, the employer/user must contact the manufacturer for replacement labels.
HAZARDS FROM FLYING PARTS
☐ A fracturing workpiece, accessory, or machine tool can eject parts at high speed.
□ Impact resistant eye protection must be worn when the pneumatic
angle grinder is being operated. The degree of this requisite protection should be rated separately for every single use.
☐ Ensure that the workpiece is fixed securely in place.
☐ Ensure that the parting disc is clamped securely to the pneumatic angle grinder.
□ Check that the parting disc's maximum operating speed (in rpm) is equal to or greater than the spindle's rated speed. Brushes should not be fitted to machines when their speeds are greater than the maximum values approved for brushes.
□ Make sure that the protective cowl is fitted, is in good working condition, has been secured properly, and is inspected at regular intervals.
□ Check regularly that the pneumatic angle grinder's speed is not greater than that specified on the machine. These speed tests must be conducted without attached parting disc and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
□ Check that the clamping flanges are used in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and that they are plane and in good working condition, e.g. uncracked and unfractured.
Safety instructions for pneumatic tools
□ Check that there is no damage or wear on the spindle and spindle thread.
- Check that there can be no hazards posed by sparks and debris generated during use.
- The pneumatic angle grinder must be disconnected from its power supply before maintenance and before the parting disc is replaced.
TRAPPING HAZARDS
There is a risk of strangulation, scalping, and/or other cutting injury when loose clothing, jewellery, necklaces, hair, or gloves are not kept away from the machine and its accessories.
HAZARDS DURING OPERATION
□ Avoid contact with the rotating spindle and attached parting disc to prevent cutting injuries to hands and other parts of the body.
□ Using the machine may expose the operating personnel's hands to hazards such as e.g. cuts, scrapes, and heat. Wear suitable gloves to protect the hands.
□ The operating and the maintenance personnel must be physically able to handle the machine's position, size, mass, and power output.
□ Hold the machine correctly: Be prepared to counteract the usual or sudden movements – keep both hands ready.
□ Make sure that your body is balanced and that you are standing on a stable surface.
□ Activate a startup or shutdown control device in the event of power outage.
□ Use only those lubricants recommended by the manufacturer.
☐ Goggles must be worn; gloves and protective clothing are recommended.
□ A hard hat must be worn for overhead work.
□ Specify the runout time when this is longer than 5 s; it is recommended urgently to place the pneumatic angle grinder in a protected place.
☐ For abrasive cutting work, the workpiece must be supported in such a manner that the parting slit maintains a constant or increasing width during the whole work.
☐ If the parting disc jams in a parting slit, the pneumatic angle grinder must be switched OFF and the parting disc loosened. Before resuming operation, check that the parting disc has been secured properly and is not damaged.
Safety instructions for pneumatic tools
☐ Grinding and parting discs may not be used for face grinding (exception: face grinding wheels). Pneumatic angle grinders may not be used at circumferential speeds greater than the maximum value specified for an abrasive.
☐ The operating personnel must make sure that there is nobody standing nearby.
☐ Personal protective equipment such as suitable gloves, aprons, and hard hats must be used.
☐ The sparks generated by parting work may ignite clothing and cause serious burns. Make sure that the sparks do not contact clothing. Wear fire retardant clothing, and make sure that there is a pail of water nearby.
HAZARDS FROM REPEATED MOVEMENTS
□ Using a pneumatic angle grinder for work related activities may cause unpleasant sensations in the operating personnel's hands, arms, neck, shoulders, and other parts of the body.
□ When using a pneumatic angle grinder, the operating personnel should adopt a comfortable posture, stand on a stable surface, and avoid postures making it difficult to maintain balance.
The operating personnel should change their posture during long work periods, thereby helping to minimise unpleasant sensations and fatigue.
☐ If the operating personnel should feel symptoms like e.g. constant or recurrent nausea, complaints, throbbing, pain, tingling, numbness, burning, or stiffness, these should not be ignored. The operating personnel should report this to the employer and consult a qualified medical expert.
HAZARDS FROM ACCESSORIES
□ Disconnect the pneumatic angle grinder from the power source before fitting or replacing the machine tool or accessory.
□ Use exclusively those accessories and consumables of the sizes and types recommended by the manufacturer of the pneumatic angle grinder. Do not use any other size or type of accessories and consumables.
□ Make sure that the parting disc size is compatible with that of the pneumatic angle grinder and that the parting disc fits on the spindle.
□ Make sure that the parting disc's thread type and size correspond exactly to the spindle thread's type and size.
Safety instructions for pneumatic tools
□ Before use, first inspect the abrasive. Do not use parting discs that may have been dropped or that exhibit spalling, cracks, or other defects.
□ Make sure that before use the parting disc has been secured properly and tightened adequately. The pneumatic angle grinder must be operated for at least one minute at idle speed in a safe position. The machine must be switched OFF immediately there is considerable vibrations or other damage, and their cause identified.
- The spindle's measurements and other key data must be examined if there is to be no contact between the end of the spindle and the base of openings for straight and flaring cup wheels or threaded grinding rods designed for mounting on machine spindles.
☐ In the case of parting discs supplied with or designed for use with adapters or adapter bushings, the user must ensure that the adapter or the adapter bushing does not contact the face side of the clamping flange and that the clamping force generates enough rotational drive to prevent the parting disc from slipping.
☐ If clamping flanges are provided for a range of parting disc types and sizes, always fit that clamping flange matching the parting disc used.
☐ Before and after using the machine tool, avoid direct contact: it may still be hot or have sharp edges.
□ The parting disc must be stored and handled in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
HAZARDS AT THE WORKPLACE
☐ Slipping, tripping, and falling are the predominant causes of injuries at work. Take note of surfaces that have become slippery through the use of the machine and of tripping hazards posed by the air or hydraulic hose.
□ Proceed carefully in unfamiliar environments. There may be hidden dangers in the form of electric or other supply cables.
☐ The pneumatic angle grinder is not designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and is not insulated against contact with electrical power sources.
□ Make sure that there are no electrical lines, gas piping, etc., that may pose a hazard in the event of damage caused by the machine in use.

HAZARDS FROM DUST AND VAPOURS
☐ The dusts and vapours generated by pneumatic angle grinders may be detrimental to health (e.g. cancer, birth defects, asthma, dermatitis). These risks must be assessed without fail and the corresponding regulating mechanisms implemented.
☐ This risk assessment should extend to the dusts generated by the machine in use and to the potential raising of dust deposits.
☐ The pneumatic angle grinder must be operated and serviced as recommended in these instructions if the release of dust and vapours is to be minimised.
☐ The exhaust air must be extracted in such a manner that the dust raised in dusty environments is reduced to a minimum.
☐ If dusts and vapours are generated, the main task is to check these at the place of their release.
□ All machine fitted installations or accessories designed to capture, extract, or suppress airborne dust or vapours should be used and serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
☐ The consumables / machine tools must be selected, serviced, and replaced in compliance with the
recommendations in these instructions if there is to be no unnecessary increase to dust and vapour levels.
□ Use respirator equipment as set down in your employer's instructions or in the work and health protection rules.
□ Processing certain materials may emit dust and vapours that in turn may lead to a potentially explosive environment.
HAZARDS FROM NOISE
☐ The effects of high noise levels may cause permanent damage to hearing when there is inadequate protection. This may lead to loss of hearing and other problems, e.g. tinnitus (ringing, buzzing, whistling, or humming in the ears).
☐ These risks must be assessed without fail and the corresponding regulating mechanisms implemented.
☐ Regulating mechanisms suitable for minimising risks include e.g. the use of insulating materials that suppress ringing noises on the workpieces.
□ Use hearing protection equipment as set down in your employer's instructions or in the work and health protection rules.

☐ The pneumatic angle grinder must be operated and serviced as recommended in these instructions if there is to be no unnecessary increase to noise levels.
☐ If the pneumatic angle grinder is fitted with a silencer, always make sure that this is in place and in full working order when the machine is operating.
☐ The consumables / machine tools must be selected, serviced, and replaced in compliance with the recommendations in these instructions if there is to be no unnecessary increase to noise levels.
HAZARDS FROM VIBRATIONS
□ Vibrations can prove detrimental to the nerves and blood circulation in hands and arms.
□ When working in cold environments, wear warm clothing, and keep your hands warm and dry.
☐ If you start feeling numbness, tingling, or pain in your fingers or hands, or the skin of your fingers or hands starts turning white, stop work with the pneumatic angle grinder, notify your employer, and seek medical advice.
☐ The pneumatic angle grinder must be operated and serviced as recommended in these instructions
if there is to be no unnecessary increase to vibration levels.
☐ Do not let the machine tool chatter on the workpiece: this will in all probability increase the vibrations to a great extent.
☐ The consumables / machine tools must be selected, serviced, and replaced in compliance with the recommendations in these instructions if there is to be no unnecessary increase to vibration levels.
□ Whenever possible, use a column, clamp, or balancing device to hold the machine's mass.
- Keep a reliable, but not too tight grip on the machine, noting the force of your manual response: vibration levels tend to increase with tighter grips.
□ Use suitable intermediate wheels with bonded abrasives.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR PNEUMATIC MACHINES
□ Compressed air can cause grievous injury.
□ When the machine is not in use and before replacing accessories or performing repairs, make sure that the air supply has been shut off, the air hose is unpressurised, and the machine has been disconnected from the air supply.

□ Never direct the air flow towards yourself or any other person.
□ Thrashing hoses can cause grievous injury. So always check that the hoses and their fasteners are undamaged and have not detached.
- Locking pins must be used on universal swivel (jaw) couplings. Whipcheck hose fasteners must be used as protection against a failing hose-machine and hose-hose connector.
□ Make sure that the maximum pressure specified on the machine is not exceeded.
□ Never carry pneumatic machines by their hoses.
■ Use the device only for applications it has been designed for!
■ Do not overload the device.
Never use bottled hydrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, or other gases as an energy source: these can cause explosions and therefore serious injury.
DANGER! Keep your hands and limbs away from rotating parts. Otherwise, there is danger of injury.
■ Make sure that the motor oil SAE 10-20 is applied correctly for the optimal lubrication of the pneumatic device (see Section "Operation" on page 15). Contact with eyes or skin can cause inflammation or irritation. It is therefore important that the motor oil is applied with great care into the compressed air connection on the pneumatic devices.
- Warnings specific to the pneumatic angle grinder
Before fitting a parting disc, after every tool repair, and before the first use of an angle grinder, always check the speed dial and make sure that the angle grinder's actual idle speed at 6.3 bar does not exceed the speed stamped or printed on the type plate. Furthermore, all angle grinders in use must be examined at least once a shift.
■ Make sure that the parting disc has been fitted correctly and the parting disc nut tightened securely. The parting disc should not sit too tightly or too loosely.
- Check that the speed specified on the parting disc is at least equal to the rated speed of the pneumatic angle grinder.

Warnings specific to the pneumatic angle grinder / Operation
Otherwise, accessories turning faster than permitted may be damaged irreparably.
■ Make sure that the parting disc size is appropriate for the pneumatic angle grinder and that the parting disc fits on the spindle.
- Parting discs must be stored and handled with care and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
■ Inspect the parting disc before use, and discard all that have spalled, fractured, or sustained any other damage.
■ Before use, make sure that the parting disc has been fitted correctly and tightened securely, and let the device run idle for thirty seconds in a safe place. Stop the machine immediately there are considerable vibrations or defects. If this is the case, examine the devices and identify the cause.
- Do not use separate adapters or adapter bushes: use instead parting discs with a larger hole diameter.
■ Always use the recommended guard supplied with the pneumatic angle grinder. The opening in the guard must face away from the operator.
■ Do not use angle grinders for face cutting.
■ The parting disc continues rotating even after the device has been switched OFF. After switching OFF, the device may not be put down until the parting disc has come to a complete stop. This precautionary measure serves to prevent not only serious accidents, but also dust and chips from being sucked into the devices.

Fit the parting disc
Disconnect the compressed air supply from the compressed air connection.
Use the assembly key 7 to lock the spindle in place, at the same time loosening the hex screw and flange with the Allen key 8.
Fit the new parting disc 6 and flange on the spindle. Use the Allen key 8 to tighten firmly the Allen screws. Check that the parting disc has been fitted correctly and can rotate without hindrance!

Before first use and thereafter at regular intervals, apply a few drops of pneumatic equipment or motor oil SAE 10-20 into the compressed air connection on the pneumatic device. After every 3–4 operating hours, use the assembly key to remove the screw plug 9 in the oil reservoir. Fill the oil reservoir with pneumatic equipment or motor oil SAE 10-20, and insert the screw plug back. Wrap some Teflon sealing tape around the thread on the air connections. Screw the air connections into the pneumatic devices.
- Starting up
Put on protective clothing and goggles. OTHERWISE THERE IS DANGER OF INJURY!
Check that the parting disc has been tightened securely.
Check that the workpiece is supported or has been locked in place correctly. A C clamp is recommended on loose workpieces.
Make sure that generated sparks do not pose any danger, i.e. they cannot contact any persons or ignite flammable substances.
Connect the compressed air supply. To do so, connect the compressed air source to the compressed air connection.
Press the switch ON guard towards the chuck. Press the trigger arm, and perform the cutting work. The device rotates at the maximum speed when the trigger arm is tightened to the stop. Regulate the tightening pressure and therefore the speed for the optimal grinding results.
- Switching OFF
Release the trigger arm 2 to switch OFF the pneumatic angle grinder. After work, disconnect the device from the compressed air source.
Note: First detach the hose from the compressed air source, and then remove the supply hose from the device. This prevents the supply hose from whirling out of control.
- Maintenance
If the machine is to enjoy a long service life and operate without problems, it is important that the following maintenance instructions are followed. The pneumatic angle grinder must be lubricated regularly if it is to operate flawlessly at all times.
ATTENTION: DISCONNECT COMPRESSED AIR BEFORE MAINTENANCE WORK!
Keep the pneumatic devices clean. Turn over the tool so that the compressed air connection points upwards, and apply a few drops of pneumatic equipment or motor oil SAE 10-20 into the compressed air connection on the pneumatic devices.
Press the trigger arm 7 to distribute the oil more evenly. Hold a cloth or absorbent paper towel in front of the exhaust air openings, and let the device run in idle mode for a few seconds.
ATTENTION! EXCESS OIL IS BLOWN OUT. KEEP THE DISCHARGE HOLE AWAY FROM PERSONS AND OBJECTS.
Operation / Warranty and service information
Speed and vibrations must be checked every time after maintenance and care.
The pneumatic tool should be kept and stored in a dry room. Make sure that no moisture can enter inside the pneumatic device.
Check regularly the spindles, threads, and clamping mechanisms for wear, and the tolerances for fitting abrasives.
Before all maintenance, clean the device of hazardous substances that have deposited on it (during work processes). Avoid all skin contact with these substances. Hazardous dust coming into contact with skin may cause serious dermatitis. Dust that is generated or raised during maintenance work can be breathed in.

Uses and acts that the operating instructions dissuade or warn against are to be avoided without question.
