What type of batteries should I use with the Pentax K100D?

The camera accepts 2 CR-V3 batteries or 4 AA batteries (lithium, rechargeable Ni-MH or alkaline). Alkaline batteries are supplied for testing only. Use only Ni-MH batteries for recharging.

How do I activate the shake reduction?

Flip the Shake Reduction switch located near the viewfinder. An indicator appears in the viewfinder. Disable it on a tripod. For lenses without focal length transmission, manually set the focal length in the menu.

Which lenses are compatible?

DA, D FA, FA J, FA and F lenses with the A (auto) aperture position are fully compatible. Other lenses may require the custom setting 'Using aperture ring'.

What should I do if the camera does not turn on?

First check the battery orientation (observe +/- polarities). Make sure the battery compartment cover is firmly closed. If the problem persists, replace the batteries with new ones or use the optional AC adapter.

How do I set the date and time?

Go to the Preferences menu (key icon) and select 'Date Setting'. You can also set them at first power-up via the 'Initial Settings' screen. Use the navigation buttons to adjust.

How do I clean the CCD sensor?

Access the Capture Settings menu and select 'CCD Cleaning'. The camera will raise the mirror and open the shutter. Use a blower or a specific brush. Never touch the sensor.

What does the flashing flash indicator in the viewfinder mean?

Flashing indicates that the flash is recommended but not activated. In automatic modes, it will pop up automatically. In manual modes, you must press the UP button to deploy the flash.

How do I print directly from the camera?

Use the supplied USB cable to connect the camera to a PictBridge-compatible printer. In playback mode, select the image and choose 'Print One Photo' or 'Print All' in the DPOF menu.

What is the battery life?

With new CR-V3 batteries at 23°C, you can take approximately 730 photos (without flash) or 630 photos (with 50% flash). Alkaline batteries give about 80 photos. Performance decreases in cold weather.

How do I reset to default settings?

Go to the Preferences menu and select 'Reset'. You can reset the Capture Settings, Playback, Preferences menus or custom function separately. Confirm your choice.
