• Keep the work area clean and well lit. Dark and cluttered work areas increase the risk of accidents and injuries.
• Do not use power tools in explosive environments, such as in the vicinity of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools produce sparks that can ignite dust and fumes.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

• The plug on the power tool must match the power point. Never modify the plug in any way. Never use an adapter with earthed power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets reduce the risk of electric shock.
• Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, cookers and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed.

PERSONAL SAFETY

• Stay alert. Pay attention to what you are doing, and use your common sense when working with power tools. Never use power tools if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention when using a power tool can result in serious personal injury.
• Use personal safety equipment. Always wear safety glasses. Use a dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, safety helmet and ear protection, depending on the type of power tool and how it is used.
• Avoid accidental starting. Make sure the power tool is switched off before plugging in the power cord and/or battery, or lifting/carrying the tool. Do not carry the tool with your finger on the trigger, or plug the tool into a power point when it is switched on; this can cause accidents.
• Always check that Allan keys/spanners etc. have been removed from the power tool before switching it on. Allen keys, or the like, left in a rotating part of a power tool can cause personal injury.
• Avoid standing in an awkward positions. Always maintain a firm footing and good balance. This will give you better control over the tool in unexpected situations.
• Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose-fitting clothing,

jewellery or long hair can get caught in moving parts.

- If dust extraction and dust collection equipment is available, this should be connected and used correctly. Dust extraction equipment can reduce risks associated with dust.

USING AND LOOKING AFTER POWER TOOLS

• Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for the planned work. The tool does the job better and safer when used at the rate for which it was designed.
• Do not use the power tool if it cannot be started and stopped with the power switch. Power tools that cannot be controlled with the power switch are dangerous and must be repaired.
• Pull out the plug and/or remove the battery before making any adjustments, changing accessories or putting the power tool away. These safety precautions reduce the risk of accidentally starting the power tool.

USING AND LOOKING AFTER POWER TOOLS

• Only charge the battery with the supplied charger. A charger that is intended for one type of battery can result in a fire risk if used with other types of batteries.
• Only use power tools with the specified batteries. The use of other batteries can result in the risk of personal injury and fire.
• When the battery is not in use keep it away from metal objects like paperclips, coins, keys, nails, screws and other metal objects that can short circuit the terminals. A short circuit between the battery terminals can result in burn injuries or fire.
• Incorrect use can cause liquid to leak from the battery. Avoid contact with battery fluid. If you get battery fluid on your skin, rinse immediately in plenty of fresh water. Seek medical attention if you get battery fluid in your eyes. Leaking battery fluid can cause skin irritation or burn injuries.

The power tool must only be serviced by qualified service personnel using identical spare parts. This will ensure that the power tool remains safe to use.

SPECIAL SAFETY REGULATIONS FOR CORDLESS JIGSAWS

• Only hold the tool by the insulated grips when working where the tool head can damage concealed electrical cables. Contact with a live cable can supply voltage to the metal parts on the tool and result in an electric shock.
• Never hold the workpiece in your hand or over your leg. Secure the workpiece in a stable fixture. It is important to secure the workpiece firmly to reduce the risk of body contact or loss of control.
• Support large workpieces to avoid the risk of them bending or breaking. Large workpieces can bend from their own weight, and must therefore be properly supported.
• Never allow children to handle power tools without supervision. Observe extra care when working if there are children nearby.
• Put the jigsaw in a safe place out of the reach of children after finishing the job.
• The power tool must never come into contact with hot surfaces or naked flames.
• The power tool must never come into contact with water or other liquids, and must only be cleaned with a dry cloth or soft brush.
• It is recommended to wear safety glasses when working with power tools. Always wear a dust filter mask.
• Stop working with the power tool immediately if you start to experience discomfort, or the skin on your hands becomes discoloured. Have a rest at suitable intervals. There is a risk of hand/arm vibration syndrome if the tool is not handled properly.
• Avoid using the tool at temperatures below 10^ C .

• Remove the battery before maintenance, or if the tool is not going to be used for some time.
• Only use the specified type of battery (see technical data).

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR BATTERIES

• Read the instructions and safety instructions before charging the battery.
• Never use a damaged charger.
• The battery must only be repaired by an authorised service centre.
• Avoid short circuiting the battery. Make sure that the battery terminals do not come into contact with metal objects.
• Do not store the battery in places where the temperature can reach over 50^ C, e.g., in a car parked in the sun.
• Do not expose the battery to moisture.
• Do not burn the battery.
• Never try to open the battery.
• Rinse immediately with plenty of water if battery fluid (25–30% strong potassium hydroxide solution) has come into contact with the skin. Neutralise the solution with a weak acid, such as lemon juice or vinegar. Rinse the eyes for at least ten minutes with running water if the solution has come into contact with the eyes, and then seek medical attention.

EMISSIONS (DUST, NOISE)

• Excessive noise levels can cause hearing impairments. Wear ear protection – especially when working in closed rooms.

• Dust and splinters can cause eye injuries. Wear safety glasses, or glasses with safety glass.

• Dust is especially dangerous. Avoid inhaling dust by wearing a suitable safety mask.
  • Always wear a helmet and safety shoes.
  • Always wear tight-fitting safety clothing in good condition.

• Do not wear loose-fitting jewellery, and tie up long hair.

OTHER RISKS

• Even if the power tool is used correctly there are always other risks that cannot be fully excluded. Depending on the type and design of the tool, the following potential risks can occur:
• Contact with the unprotected part of the saw blade (cut injuries).
• Contact with ejected parts of the saw blade after breakage (cut injuries).
• Kickback or ejected parts of the workpiece (shock injuries).
• Hearing loss if suitable ear protection is not worn during the work (hearing impairment).
  • Harmful emissions of wood dust.

REDUCTION OF NOISE AND VIBRATIONS

• Plan the work so that exposure to heavy vibrations is spread over a longer period.
• To reduce noise and vibrations when in use, limit the time the tool is in use, and use low-power/vibration mode and suitable safety equipment.
  • Take the following precautions to minimise the risks of exposure to vibrations and/or noise:

• Check that the tool is in good condition.

The declared vibration value and noise, which have been measured by a standardised test method, can be used to compare different tools with each other and for a preliminary assessment of exposure. The measurement values have been determined in accordance with EN 60745-2-11:2010.

WARNING!

The actual vibration and noise level when using power tools may differ from the specified maximum value, depending on how the tool is used and the material. INTENDED USE

The jigsaw is a hand-held power tool with a single edged tensioned saw blade that by virtue of its movement back and forwards saws through different materials. Sharp curves and wavy lines can be sawn in thin sheets or boards. The jigsaw can be used to saw in wood, metal, plastic and other similar materials. Only use saw blades recommended by the manufacturer.

NOT INTENDED TO BE USED FOR

All applications not included in the section "Intended use" are to be considered as inappropriate use. The jigsaw must not be used for the following:

• Sawing firewood.
• Sawing material containing asbestos or other harmful materials.
• As a stationary machine – risk of injury.

The user is personally responsible for any material damage or personal injury resulting from incorrect use of the jigsaw.

The manufacturer's warranty will be invalidated if original spare parts are not used on the jigsaw.

USE

BEFORE USING FOR FIRST TIME

Check that all parts are included and undamaged. Do not use the jigsaw if parts are missing or damaged – risk of serious personal injury and/or material damage.

STARTING/SWITCHING OFF

Start the jigsaw by first pressing in the start inhibitor and then the power switch. Switch off the jigsaw by completely releasing the power switch. The start inhibitor can be pressed both ways to suit left-handed and right-handed users.

SPEED

The speed of the blade (number of strokes) is adjusted by the pressure on the power switch.

FITTING/REPLACING SAW BLADES

WARNING!

Always remove the battery from the jigsaw before inserting or removing a saw blade.

1. Pull up the blade fixture (remove blade if there is one).
2. Push the saw blade into the slot in the blade clamp.
3. Release the saw blade fixture to lock the blade.

NOTE:

The teeth on the saw blade must face in the direction of the sawing. Make sure that the saw blade is firmly fixed in the slot in the roller.

ADJUSTING THE SAWING ANGLE

For mitre sawing and flush-edge sawing the base plate can be angled on both sides in fixed steps ( 0^ , 15^ , 30^ and 45^ ).

1. Open the locking lever to adjust the angle of the base plate and angle the base plate to the required position. Lock in place by folding back the locking lever.

ADJUSTING THE PENDULUM ACTION

The pendulum function determines how fast the jigsaw can saw, and how fine the cut is. The highest pendulum action saws quicker with a rougher cut. The finest cuts are obtained when the function is switched off.

SAWING IN METAL

When sawing in thin sheet metal a thin wooden board should be placed under the metal and sawn together with the metal to prevent the metal from bending. Note that the jigsaw must be able to move freely before it will cut into the material. Do not push the jigsaw in the direction of the cut during the sawing. To simplify the sawing and make the metal saw blade last longer, apply a little oil to the cut.

SAWING IN PLASTIC

Plastic should if possible be sawn from underneath, because the blade only cuts on the upward movement and therefore can produce irregularities on the upper surface. For this same reason, always use a fine-toothed saw blade. It is recommended to place the plastic between two thin wooden boards, especially for brittle materials.

SAWING IN WOOD

When sawing pieces of wood, place the jigsaw with the base plate against the workpiece so that the blade is about one centimetre from the edge and lies flat against the wood. Start the jigsaw and move it firmly forward. Press the jigsaw firmly down against the material so that it does not start to bounce.

NOTE:

If for some reason you stop sawing in the middle of the cut, allow the saw blade to stop completely before pulling it out.

MAINTENANCE

WARNING!

Always remove the battery from the jigsaw before cleaning the jigsaw or changing saw blades.

CLEANING

NOTE:

Many detergents contain chemicals that can corrode the plastic parts on the tool. Never use petrol, turps, thinner or other similar products.

• Clean the ventilation openings on the jigsaw at regular intervals.
• Clean the jigsaw with a damp cloth. Wipe dry afterwards.
• Keep tools sharp and clean for better and safer work.
• Never open the jigsaw. If a fault or malfunction occurs, hand in the tool to an authorised service centre.

STORAGE

• When the jigsaw is not in use store it in a dry and safe place with a temperature of no more than 40^ C and out of reach of unauthorised persons.
• Do not store the battery and charger in places where the temperature can reach over 40°C, for example, in a car parked in the sun.
• Do not expose the jigsaw, charger or battery to moisture.
