Congratulations on the purchase of your Powercraft spray gun.
Before use, please read this manually carefully. Keep the manual in a safe place for future reference.
This apparatus requires careful cleaning and maintenance for optimum function.
IMPORTANT: Always clean thoroughly after use.
Failure to do so will affect performance and invalidate the guarantee.
Safety instructions
NOTE: Do not point at other people or animals. Doing so entails a high risk of injury.
If paint or solvents come in contact with the skin, seek medical help immediately and advise the doctor of the type of paint or solvents involved.
- For use with paint and solvents with a flashpoint over 21^ C. (32 °C in the UK) only.
- Indoor use: Ensure adequate ventilation.
- Naked flames and smoking during use are strictly forbidden.
- Not a toy! Keep well away from children and do not allow them to play with it.
• Always disconnect from mains electricity before performing any type of cleaning or maintenance.
- Never use for inflammable liquids.
- Never clean with inflammable liquids.
- Check carefully the content of liquids used. (See manufacturer's recommendations)
- Never use liquids with properties you are unsure of.
General safety instructions
WARNING!
When using electrical tools, always take precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury, including:
- Keep work area clean. Cluttered, dirty work areas cause accidents.
- Check work area before starting. Do not expose to rain. Do not use in damp or humid areas. Do not use if there is any risk of fire or explosion.
- Protect against electric shock. Avoid coming in contact with earthed surfaces, such as pipes, radiators and fridges.
- Keep well away from children. Do not allow others to touch the tool or cable. All visitors should be kept away from work place.
- Unused tools should be stored in a dry, safe place, well out of the reach of children.
- Do not overload. The tool will perform better and more safely if the use of force is avoided.
- Use right tool Do not force a tool which is too small to do the work of a large tool.
- Wear the right clothing. Never wear loose-fitting clothes or jewellery, as they can get caught in the moving parts. Rubber gloves and non-slip footwear are recommended for working outdoors. Hairnets are recommended for long hair.

Use safety goggles Always wear a face- or dust mask if a lot of fine spray is produced.

If a vacuum cleaner is used to extract fine spray, check it is connected correctly.

Do not mistreat the cable. Never carry by the cable, and never pull the plug out by the cable. Keep the cable away from hot or sharp objects.

Use screw cramps to hold materials to be painted.

Ensure you have a good stance and correct balance when working.

Keep tools sharp and clean for better, safer results. Follow lubrication and replacement of accessories guide. Check cable regularly. If damaged, get it repaired by an authorised dealer. Keep handle dry and clean.

Switch off at mains when not in use or changing accessories.

Before start, check machine is in 0 position.

When using outdoors, check extension cable is suitable for outdoor use.

Do not carry with a finger on the on/off button.

Stay alert. Use the machine with care. Do not use if tired or unwell.

Check for damaged parts. Always check other parts before use. Assess whether machine's ability to operate will be affected. Damaged parts must be replaced or repaired by an authorised technician. Damaged switches must be replaced by the manufacturer. Do not use if the ON/OFF button is defective.

When the machine is to be repaired, always use an authorised dealer which uses only original spare parts. Failure to do so can cause injury.

General remarks
Method of use
Pour liquids in through spray nozzle. Under pressure, the liquid is forced out in a fine spray.
Painting without compressed air is best as it avoids waste.
Use
Ideal for painting woodwork, fences, indoor and outdoor furniture, windows, doors, etc.
FOLLOWING ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR PAINTING WITH THIS GUN.
- Materials containing abrasives.
- Glazing products.
- Materials containing various types of paint.
• Corrosive and alkaline materials.
Use of such products can cause damage to the gun and invalidate the guarantee.
Preparing material to be sprayed
Thin the paint to be used to the required DIN value.
Thinners (DIN)
- Stir thoroughly.
- Submerge measuring cup under the surface.
- Lift cup and time how long it takes to empty totally in seconds. This time is known as the 'DIN time'. Written as DIN/sec.

Spray liquids: Thinning DIN/sec.
Impregnation fluids, Unthinned - 30
primer, varnish and lacquer.
Synthetic plastic 15 - 30
paint and clear lacquer.
Acrylic paint 20 - 30
Wood preservative, Unthinned - (Max. 30)
pesticides, oils.
Aluminium paint 15 - 30
Cleaning agents and Unthinned - (Max. 30)
polishes.
Start up
Before connecting to the mains, check that mains electricity complies with that stated on label attached to gun.
NOTE: Do not use with no liquid in the container. This will ruin the pump and invalidate the guarantee.
Refilling the container (2)
- Place container on a piece of paper and fill.
- Check correct thinning. (3)
- Screw gun onto container (4).
Adjust spray with adjustment knob (5)
- Before starting, turn adjustment knob anticlockwise to maximum.
- Press Start button and turn adjustment knob backwards until best result is achieved.
- Clockwise reduces pressure.
- Anticlockwise increases pressure.
Correct spray technique
- To achieve best result hold spray gun 23-30 cm from surface to be sprayed. This prevents air getting into the pump until the liquid runs out.
- Uneven spray movements will cause bubbles and runs in the paint. Always use smooth, even arm movements.
- Use arm, not wrist. (6 - 7)
Some tips
- Always clean the surface first for the best result. Clean and protect surface from dust.
- Check for correct setting by trying out on a price of board or the like.
- Use good quality paint. This will help avoid runs. If applying more than one coat, allow each coat to dry properly before applying the next.
- Cover all other surfaces to avoid accidental spraying.
- See illustration number (8) for the best method.
- Remember that excess paint can fall on the surrounding areas.
Cleaning
- Always fill with a little thinners after painting is finished to clean internal parts. Remember not to exceed the flashpoint of 21° C.
- Disconnect from the mains.
- Dry outer surfaces and parts with a dry cloth. Never submerge the gun in a liquid. (9)
- Remove the container, valves and paint nozzle. Remove suction pipe. (10)
- Clean bowl, valves, nozzle and suction hose with a brush (11)
- Place a couple of drops of oil in the pump to protect against corrosion. (12)

Never pour paint or solvents into the sewers.
Take them to your local environmental refuse station for disposal.
