Frequently Asked Questions - 89040 Power Craft

How do I use the Power Craft 89040 spray paint?
Shake the can vigorously for 1 minute before use. Hold the can 20-30 cm (8-12 inches) from the surface. Apply in thin, even coats using a sweeping motion. Allow 10-15 minutes between coats. For best results, apply multiple thin coats rather than one thick coat.
What safety precautions should I take?
Always use in a well-ventilated area. Avoid breathing fumes. Wear a respirator mask if necessary. Keep away from heat, sparks, and open flames. Do not smoke while using. Avoid contact with skin and eyes; if contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
Can I use this spray paint on plastic or metal?
Yes, the Power Craft 89040 is suitable for multiple surfaces including wood, metal, plastic, and more. However, always test on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure compatibility and adhesion.
How do I clean the nozzle after use?
After use, turn the can upside down and press the nozzle for 3-5 seconds until only clear gas escapes. This prevents clogging. If the nozzle is already clogged, soak it in paint thinner or replace it.
What if the nozzle clogs?
Remove the nozzle and soak it in paint thinner or acetone for a few minutes. Use a pin to clear any blockage. If it remains clogged, replace the nozzle with a compatible spare part.
How long does it take to dry?
The paint becomes touch dry in about 30 minutes under normal conditions. Full cure takes approximately 24 hours. Avoid handling or placing objects on the painted surface until fully cured. Drying time may vary with humidity and temperature.
How should I store the spray paint can?
Store the can upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ideal storage temperature is between 50°F and 80°F (10°C - 27°C). Do not expose to temperatures above 120°F (49°C) as it may burst.
What is the shelf life of this paint?
The shelf life is typically 3 years from the date of manufacture when stored properly. Check the can for the expiration date. Do not use if the can is damaged or if the paint has separated or developed a foul odor.
How do I dispose of an empty can?
Ensure the can is completely empty by spraying until no more paint comes out. Do not puncture or incinerate. Recycle the metal can according to local regulations. Dispose of partially full cans as hazardous waste if required.
Is the paint waterproof after drying?
Once fully cured (after 24 hours), the paint provides a water-resistant finish. It can withstand light moisture but is not intended for permanent submersion. For outdoor use, consider applying a clear sealer for added protection.

  1. Stir thoroughly.
  2. Submerge measuring cup under the surface.
  3. Lift cup and time how long it takes to empty totally in seconds. This time is known as the 'DIN time'. Written as DIN/sec.

Some tips

  • Always clean the surface first for the best result. Clean and protect surface from dust.
  • Check for correct setting by trying out on a price of board or the like.

  • See illustration number (8) for the best method.
  • Remember that excess paint can fall on the surrounding areas.

Cleaning

  1. Always fill with a little thinners after painting is finished to clean internal parts. Remember not to exceed the flashpoint of 21° C.
  2. Disconnect from the mains.
  3. Dry outer surfaces and parts with a dry cloth. Never submerge the gun in a liquid. (9)
  4. Remove the container, valves and paint nozzle. Remove suction pipe. (10)
