Frequently Asked Questions - CAD-474BT DENVER

How do I pair my phone with the Denver CAD-474BT via Bluetooth?
Ensure the unit's Bluetooth is active (always on). On your phone, search for available devices and select CarBT. Enter the PIN 1234. Once paired, connect to the head unit if not automatic. Then you can make calls and stream music via A2DP.
Why won't my USB device or SD card play music?
The unit supports MP3 and WMA files on USB and SD/MMC cards. Ensure the media is formatted in FAT32 and contains compatible files. Note that USB hard drives are not supported. If playback fails, try a different device or reformat.
How do I detach the front panel for theft prevention?
First press the POWER button to turn off the unit. Then press the OPEN button (17) to flip down the panel until horizontal. Gently pull the panel towards you to detach. Store it in the provided case. To reattach, press it lightly onto the unit until it clicks.
What is the RDS function and how do I use AF/TA/PTY?
RDS (Radio Data System) provides digital information on FM. Use AF to automatically switch to the strongest alternative frequency for the same station. TA prioritizes traffic announcements; when active, unit switches to radio during traffic info. PTY lets you search by program type (e.g., News, Rock). Press the respective buttons to enable.
How do I set the clock on the CAD-474BT?
Press and hold the VOL knob (SEL) until IN VOL appears, then press repeatedly until ADJ shows. Turn the knob clockwise to set hours, counterclockwise for minutes. The adjustment is saved after a few seconds.
Can I play music from my phone wirelessly?
Yes, if your phone supports A2DP Bluetooth. Pair and connect as described, then press MD/LD to select A2DP mode. Play music on your phone; the audio will stream through the car speakers. Use the head unit's SKIP buttons to change tracks.
What should I do if the unit has no power or the display is blank?
Check the car's ignition key is turned to ACC or ON position. Verify the fuse (10A) is not blown. If the fuse is blown, replace with same rating. Also ensure the constant 12V memory wire (yellow) and ignition wire (red) are connected correctly.
How do I adjust the sound equalizer?
Press the DSP button repeatedly to cycle through equalizer presets: Classic, Rock, POP, Flat. For manual adjustment, press SEL (VOL knob) until BAS (bass), TRE (treble), BAL (balance), or FAD (fader) appears, then turn the knob to set.
Can I connect an external amplifier or subwoofer?
Yes, the unit has RCA Line Out outputs (red/right, white/left) with a maximum output of 2V. You can connect these to an external amplifier. Ensure the amplifier's input impedance is compatible (10k Ohm or higher).
How do I reset the unit if buttons are unresponsive?
Locate the RESET button on the housing (item 29). Use a pointed object (e.g., a ballpoint pen) to press it. This restores factory settings. Perform a reset after installation or if the display shows error symbols.

- Regional mode ON:

AF switching or PI SEEK is implemented to the station which have all PI codes same as current station. REG segment is turned on in LCD display.

- Regional mode OFF

The regional code in the format of PI code is ignored when AF switching or PI SEEK is implemented.

6. 'TA' function (TRAFFIC ANNOUNCEMENT)

When pressed momentarily, it is activated as TA mode on or off
