Frequently Asked Questions - M9239 HMS Premium

What type of bike is compatible with the HMS Premium M9239 home trainer?
The trainer is compatible with most road and mountain bikes with rear wheel sizes from 26 to 28 inches. It works with both quick-release and thru-axle skewers (adapters may be needed for thru-axle).
How do I adjust the resistance?
Resistance is adjusted manually via a knob on the main unit. Turn it clockwise to increase resistance and counterclockwise to decrease. The trainer has 8 levels of magnetic resistance.
Does the trainer require electricity?
No, the HMS Premium M9239 is a magnetic trainer that operates mechanically. No external power source is needed. The basic display is powered by a battery (often AA, not included).
How noisy is the trainer?
The magnetic resistance system is very quiet, especially compared to fluid or wind trainers. The main noise comes from the tire contact with the roller, which can be reduced by using a trainer tire or a smooth road tire.
Can I fold the trainer for storage?
Yes, the M9239 has a folding design. Simply release the locking mechanism and fold the legs together. The unit is compact and can be stored easily, with transport wheels for moving.
How do I maintain the trainer?
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the frame and roller with a damp cloth. Apply a light lubricant to the resistance unit and pivot points annually. Check bolt tightness periodically.
What is the maximum user weight?
The maximum recommended user weight is 120 kg (265 lbs). Exceeding this may cause instability or damage.
Does the trainer come with a warranty?
Yes, the HMS Premium M9239 typically includes a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Check the included documentation for terms.
How do I connect my bike?
Remove the rear wheel and attach the trainer's skewer to the bike's dropouts. Place the bike onto the trainer's roller and secure with the locking mechanism. Adjust the frame for proper tire contact.
Are spare parts available?
Yes, you can purchase spare parts such as the resistance unit, replacement skewers, training mats, and repair kits from HMS Premium or authorized dealers.

TRAINING INSTRUCTION

1. Warm-Up

To prevent injury and maximize performance we recommend that each workout period starts with a warm-up. We suggest you do the following exercise as the sketch map. Each exercise at least about 30 seconds.

SIDE BEND BENT QUADRICEPS INNER THIGH CALF AND ACHILLES

2. Position

Seat down at the saddle, put feet's in to pedals, hands put on the handlebar. Keep your back straight.

3. Training Organization

Warm-up:

Before every training you should warm-up for 5-10 minutes. Here you can do some stretching and training with low resistance.

HMS Premium M9239 - Warm-up: - 1

natural_image Line drawing of a person exercising on an exercise bike (no text or symbols)

Training session:

During the actual training a rate of 70% -85% of the maximum pulse rate should be chosen. The time-length of your training session can be calculated with the following rule of thumb:

• daily training session: approx. 10 min. per unit
• 2-3 x per week: approx. 30 min. per unit
• 1-2 x per week: approx. 60 min. per unit

Cool down:

To introduce an effective cool-down of the muscles and the metabolism the intensity should be drastically decreased during the last 5 – 10 minutes. Stretching is also helpful for the prevention of muscle aches.

Success. Even after a short period of regular exercises you will notice that you constantly have to increase the resistance to reach your optimum pulse rate. The units will be continuously easier and you will feel a lot fitter during your normal day. For this achievement you should motivate yourself to exercise regularly. Choose fixed hours for your training session and do not start training too aggressively. An old quote amongst sportsmen says: "The most difficult thing about training is to start it."
