Frequently Asked Questions - CON 301 HYUNDAI

How do I set the timer on the Hyundai CON 301 heater?
Ensure the slide switch on the timer is at the middle position (clock symbol). Rotate the outer ring clockwise to align the current time with the arrow pointer. Pull the segments forward to set the desired on/off periods (each segment = 15 minutes). The heater will operate daily at the programmed times.
Can I use the fan without heating?
Yes. The fan can be operated independently by turning the fan switch on while the heating elements are off. This circulates cool air in warm conditions.
What are the power settings available?
The heater has three power levels: 750 W (first switch ON), 1250 W (second switch ON), and 2000 W (both switches ON). Turn both switches off for no heating.
How do I set the thermostat?
Turn the thermostat knob fully clockwise for maximum heat. Once the desired room temperature is reached, slowly turn it anticlockwise until you hear a click. The heater will then maintain that temperature automatically.
Is the heater safe to use in a bathroom?
No. The heater must not be used in bathrooms in zones 0, 1, or 2, or near bathtubs, showers, or swimming pools to avoid electric shock.
What should I do if the heater overheats?
The heater has a thermal cut-out that will interrupt power. If this happens, switch off the appliance, unplug it, remove any obstructions blocking airflow, and let it cool for about 10 minutes before reuse. If it occurs frequently, have it serviced.
How do I clean the heater?
Always unplug the heater and allow it to cool completely. Clean the exterior with a damp cloth and buff dry. Do not use detergents or abrasives, and prevent water from entering the heater.
Can children use this heater?
Children aged 8 years and above can use the heater under supervision. Children aged 3-8 may only switch it on/off if properly supervised and placed in normal position. Children under 3 must be kept away unless constantly supervised.
What is the frost guard function?
When the thermostat knob is turned fully anticlockwise to the minimum position, the heater enters frost guard mode. It will maintain the room temperature above freezing, depending on room size.
How do I override the timer for continuous operation?
Set the slide switch on the timer to the 'I' position. This bypasses the timer and supplies continuous power. To revert to timer mode, slide it back to the central (clock) position.

- For additional protection, install current protection (RCD) with the nominal release current not exceeding 30mA. Ask a revision technician or an electrician for advice.

- Never use the appliance if the power cord or power plug are damaged, if the appliance is not correctly operating or if it has fallen on the floor and been damaged, or if it has fallen into water. In such cases take the appliance to a professional service centre to verify its safety and correct function.

- If the power cord of the appliance is corrupted, it has to be replaced by the manufacturer, its service technician or a similarly qualified person so as to prevent dangerous situations.

- WARNING: In order to prevent overheating, never cover the appliance and the air inlets/outlets to avoid fire hazard.

- Children under 3 years of age must be kept away from the appliance unless they are constantly supervised.

- Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall only switch on/off the appliance provided that it has been placed or installed in its intended normal operating position and they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall not plug in, regulate and clean the appliance or perform user maintenance.

- NOTE: Some parts of this product can become very hot and cause burns. Particular attention has to be given where children and vulnerable people are present.

- Do not use the appliance in bathrooms in zones 0, 1 and 2! It must not be used in a close proximity of bathtub, shower or swimming pool.

- The appliance must not be immersed in water or other liquids (not even partially)! If the appliance falls in water, do not take it from the water! First disconnect the power cord plug from the electrical socket, and then take out the appliance from the water. - Do not switch on the appliance if the appliance is not completely assembled or if the blade wheel covers are damaged.

- This appliance is not intended for outdoor use.

- The appliance is equipped with a thermal cut-out that will interrupt power supply, if the appliance dangerously overheats. If overheating occurs, switch off the appliance, disconnect it from the power supply, remove any obstacles preventing the air flow, and let the appliance cool down for about 10 minutes. If the cut-out occurred for reasons other than air flow reduction, have the appliance repaired by a specialised service centre.

- Do not modify the appliance surface in any manner (e.g. by self-adhesive wallpapers, foils, etc.)!

- When handling the appliance, avoid causing any injury (e.g. burns). Do not move hot appliance, wait until it cools down!

- Only use original components designed for this type.

- Check the condition of the power cord of the appliance regularly.

- Never put the power cord on hot surfaces and never let it hang over table edge or worktop edge. If the cord is caught or pulled, e.g. by children, the appliance may overturn and fall down, causing a serious injury!

Instructions for Use

Assembly of the heater

Before using the heater, the feet (supplied in the carton), must be fitted to the main unit. These are to be attached to the base of the heater using the 4 self-tapping screws provided, taking care to ensure that they are located correctly in the bottom ends of the heater side mouldings

Operation of the heater

1) Choose a suitable location for the heater, taking into account the safety instructions above.
2) Insert the plug of the heater into a suitable socket.
3) Turn the thermostat knob fully in a clockwise direction to the maximum setting.
4) Turn on the heating elements by the power switches on the side panel. For maximum heat output turn both switch to ON.

5) When the desired room temperature has been reached, the thermostat knob should be turned slowly anti-clockwise until the thermostat is heard to click off. After this the heater will keep the air temperature in the room at the set temperature by switching on and off automatically.
6) In it's minimum (fully anti-clockwise) position, the thermostat provides a frost guard position. In this position (depending on the size of the room) the heater will maintain the temperature above freezing.

Fan Operation

This is operated by means of the fan switch with the fan symbol along side it. The fan will only operate with the thermostat in the “on” position and can be used when the heating elements are “on” to blow warm air into the room. In warm conditions the fan can be used with the heating elements “off” to blow cool air into the room.

Timer Operation

This unit has 24hr timer which has 96 segments around its circumference, each segment being equivalent to 15 minutes of time. With the aid of this timer it is possible to preset the time and duration of the period(s) that it is desired the heater will operate, in any 24hr period. The centre of the timer has a 2 position slide switch. In the position denoted by the “☐” the timer will switch the heater on and off at times set by the segments, (see setting the timer, below). The position denoted by the “I”, is a timer override position. The timer will continue to run but power will be fed continuously to the heater. This enables the heater to be on all the time if required.

Setting the Timer

Ensure the slide switch on the timer is at the mid position next to the clock symbol. Rotate the outer ring of the timer in a clockwise direction until the current time is lined up with the arrow pointer, i.e. if the time the timer is being set is 8pm, rotate the outer ring until the number 20 is in line with the arrow pointer. Set the time the heater is required to run by pulling the segments around the outer ring forward appropriate to the running period(s) required. When set, the heater will operate each day during the times programmed.

Note: The heater must always be plugged into a power socket, the operation switch must be in the on position and the thermostat must be suitably set to ensure the heater will come on.

If the heater is required to run continuously the slide switch on the timer should be set to the "I" position. If it is subsequently required to revert back to timer operation, the slide switch on the timer should be set to the central (clock) position.

Note: When using in timer mode, due consideration should be given to the fact that the heater may come on whilst unattended.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Clearing the heater

• Always un-plug the heater from the wall socket and allow it to cool down before cleaning.
- Clean the outside of the heater by wiping with a damp cloth and buff with a dry cloth. Do not use any detergents or abrasives and do not allow any water to enter the heater.
