Frequently Asked Questions - PM 3151 ECG

Can I use the steam mop on all types of flooring?
The steam mop is designed for hard floors like ceramic tiles, marble, stone, and sealed wooden floors. For laminate and PVC floors, use the lowest steam setting. Do not use on unsealed wood, cork, waxed floors, or polished furniture. Always test on a small area first.
How do I fill the water tank?
Ensure the mop is unplugged. Remove the tank plug, use the measuring cup to add clean cold water (do not overfill), then replace the plug. You can also remove the tank entirely for easier filling.
How long does it take for the steam mop to heat up?
The steam starts releasing from the bottom of the mop head after about 20 seconds after turning the appliance on.
Can I use the steam mop on carpets?
Yes, but only with the carpet attachment inserted. Use it to boost colours and remove odours, not for deep cleaning. Do not leave it on one spot longer than 20 seconds.
How do I clean the microfibre pads?
After use, remove the pad (caution: hot). Wash by hand or machine with hot water. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. Allow to air dry for best results.
What should I do if the steam output is low?
Check if the water tank is filled and properly seated. Ensure the power knob is turned to a higher setting. Also, descale the tank if limescale builds up (use a mixture of water and vinegar occasionally). Never operate with an empty tank.
Is it safe to use the steam mop around children?
Supervision is required. Do not let children play with the appliance. The steam is hot and can cause burns. Always unplug when not in use and store out of reach.
Can I add cleaning solutions or fragrances to the water?
No. Only use clean cold water. Adding other liquids (aromas, alcohol, detergents) may damage the appliance and create unsafe conditions.
How do I store the steam mop after use?
Unplug and allow to cool. Empty and rinse the water tank. Wrap the power cord around the top and bottom hooks on the back. Fold the handle down for compact storage in a dry place.
What does the ON indicator light mean?
The green indicator light shows that the appliance is powered on and heating. Once the steam is ready (after ~20 seconds), you can begin mopping.

USING THE APPLIANCE

  • Never use the appliance without the attached cleaning pads.
  • Never use the appliance with empty water tank.
  • Do not overfi ll the water tank to prevent an undesirable increase in pressure.
  • Do not point the appliance at other people, animals or electrical and electronic devices.
  • Do not use on leather, waxed and polished furniture, non-impregnated wood, synthetic fabrics, velvet or other delicate steam-sensitive materials.

Using steam mop on hard floors

The steam mop is designed to clean hard floors, like ceramic tiles, marble, stone floors and sealed wooden floors. In case of PVC flooring and laminate floors use the lowest power level with minimal steam output. The steam mop is not designed to clean waxed floors or non-impregnated wooden floors. For best results, try the mop first on some less prominent part of the floor and read the instructions for the maintenance of the floor supplied by the manufacturer of your floor.

  1. Remove dust and dirt from the floor by vacuuming or sweeping.
  2. Attach the cleaning pad on the head of the mop and secure it with two velcros. Tighten the pad around the head of the mop using drawstring in the pad.
  3. Make sure that the steam mop is disconnected from the power supply and fill the tank with water.
  4. Then plug the mop in a suitable electrical wall outlet and using the switch turn it on.
  5. Allow the steam mop to warm up. The steam starts to be released from the bottom of the mop head after about 20 seconds.
  6. You can regulate the amount of steam by turning the power knob.
  7. Start in the farthest corner of the room and work your way backwards. You will avoid stepping on the floor which you just cleaned.
  8. For disinfecting an area of the floor, leave the steam mop over the place for about 10 seconds.
  9. If you are done or if you are running out of water in the tank, switch the power button off and unplug it from the outlet.
  10. The cleaning pads are machine washable. Do not use bleach or fabric softener.

Using steam mop on carpets

The steam mop can be used to boost colours and to remove odours from carpets and mats. Use the steam mop with the head inserted in the carpet attachment. Do not use the steam mop to remove spots and stains and do not apply it on one place longer than 20 seconds.

  1. First, remove from the floor dust and dirt by vacuuming.
  2. Attach the cleaning pad to the head of the mop. Tighten the pad around the mop head using drawstring in the pad.
  3. Make sure that the steam mop is disconnected from the power supply and fill the tank with water.
  4. Then plug the mop in a suitable electrical outlet and switch it on using power button.
  5. Allow the steam mop to warm up. The steam starts to be released from the bottom of the mop head after about 20 seconds.
  6. You can regulate the amount of steam by turning the power knob.
  7. Put the head of the steam mop with the cleaning pad in the carpet attachment. Use the carpet attachment only for carpets and mats. Using the attachment on other types of flooring may leave wet stripes on the floor and the surface can be scratched.
  8. Start in the farthest corner of the room and work your way backwards. You will avoid stepping on the floor which you just cleaned.
  9. If you are done or if you are running out of water in the tank, switch the power button off and unplug it from the outlet.
  10. The cleaning pads are machine washable. Do not use bleach or fabric softener.

Note: This appliance does not serve as a carpet cleaning device, only as a booster and remover of odours.

After use

- Remove the cleaning pad from the head of the mop. Be careful, the cleaning pad and the bottom part of the steam mop may still be hot.
- The cleaning pad may be washed with hot water by hand or in washing machine. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. Allow to air dry for optimal results.
