Safety

To avoid electric shock avoid cutting the grass after it has rained. Do not leave the raker/scarifier outdoors during rain.

The blades will continue to rotate after the motor has been turned off. Unplug the mains lead before carrying out any maintenance, repairs or service.

Inspect the area to be raked before starting work. Remove any sticks, stones or debris that could be thrown by the rotating drum from the path of the lawn raker. If you notice any objects in the path of the raker, switch it off and remove the objects before continuing work.

Keep bystanders at a safe distance.

Keep the mains lead away from the rotating cutting blade.

Always wear approved safety glasses/visor and hearing protection.

Wear protective gloves.

Wear safety shoes with steel toecaps and slip-resistant soles.

Unplug the mains lead immediately if the cable has become damaged.

Always work across the face of slopes, never up and down.

General safety instructions
- The lawn raker must not be used by anyone (including children) suffering from physical or mental impairment. This product should not be used by anyone that has not read the instruction manual unless they have been instructed in its use by someone who will take responsibility for their safety.
- Never let children play with the lawn raker.
- The lawn raker must only be used as described in this instruction manual.
- Remember that it is the user who is ultimately responsible for any accidents or hazards that cause possible injury to others and to property.
- If the mains lead is damaged it must be replaced by a qualified electrician or Clas Ohlson Customer Services.
- The lawn raker should be connected to a mains outlet protected by a 30 mA RCD.
- Never use the lawn raker if you are tired, sick, under the influence of alcohol or medicine.
Pre-work safety precautions
- Read the entire instruction manual carefully.
- Never let children or others use the lawn raker without having read the instruction manual. Check for any local regulations that may stipulate a minimum operating age.
- Never use the lawn raker in the presence of bystanders, especially children or animals.
- Always wear sturdy boots or shoes and long trousers. Never use the lawn raker while barefoot or wearing open-toed sandals.
- Never wear loose-fitting clothing or clothes which have any loose hanging straps or bands.
- Always inspect the area to be raked/scarified before starting work. Remove any objects that could be thrown by the lawn raker from the area to be raked/scarified.
- Make sure that the lawn raker is completely assembled and that all parts are whole and functioning normally before commencing work.
- Check that all the cables to be used are intact and undamaged. Also check the fixed motor connection cable on the lawn raker.
- Never use the lawn raker if any of the cables or their connections are damaged.
- Make sure that all screws and bolts are properly tightened and that all safety devices are in place before commencing work.
Operating safety precautions
- The lawn raker is not designed for professional use or to be used for hire. The product is only intended for domestic use.
- Only use extension leads approved for outdoor use.
- Only use the lawn raker during daylight hours or under good lighting conditions.
- The lawn raker should only be connected to a 230–240 V, 50 Hz mains outlet protected by a 30 mA (RCD).
- Avoid raking/scarifying wet grass.
• Always work at a relaxed pace. Never hurry. - Be extra careful when raking/scarifying on slopes.
• Always rake/scarify across the face of slopes, never up and down.
• Always be extra careful when changing directions on a slope. - Never rake/scarify on steep slopes.
- Always be extra careful when pulling the lawn raker towards you or walking backwards when raking.
- Always turn the lawn raker off and unplug it before crossing surfaces other than grass such as gravel and asphalt.
- Never use the lawn raker if any part of its housing has been damaged. Never use the lawn raker without having the collector attached.
- Make sure that the lawn raker stands steady on all four wheels before starting. Keep hands and feet away from the housing and the rotating drum at all times.
- Turn the lawn raker off and disconnect it from the power supply whenever taking a pause from work.
- Turn the lawn raker off and disconnect it from the power supply whenever emptying the collector, cleaning or carrying out any other type of maintenance.
- Turn the lawn raker off and disconnect it from the power supply whenever the blades or tines on the drum strike any foreign object. Check the blades, tines and springs for damage. Repair any eventual damage before restarting the lawn raker.

- Always be aware of the location of the mains lead while raking/scarifying. Make sure that the mains lead does not come into contact with the lawn raker or its rotating blades.

Assembly Handle
- Slot the lower handle section (16) into the attachment holes on the chassis and secure it with the locking screws (17).

Attach the middle handle section (15) to the lower section using screws and locking knobs.

Attach the upper handle section (13) to the middle section using screws and locking knobs.

Collector
- Lift the deck (8) and hang the collector onto its bracket.
- Lower the deck onto the collector.

Operating instructions Connecting the mains lead
Note: Only use an extension lead approved for outdoor use.
- Connect the extension lead to the socket (5) on the lawn raker and hang the cable on the strain relief hook on the handle (2).
- The extension lead should only be connected to a 230–240 V, 50 Hz mains outlet protected by a 30 mA (RCD).
Start
Note: When switching the lawn raker on, make sure that the lawn raker does not grip the lawn and pull away from you. Set the height adjuster (12) to the highest setting. The lawn raker is at the highest setting when the adjuster is closest to the ground. Press the adjuster in to move it. Make sure that the lawn raker is on an easily worked surface when it is switched on. Thereafter, adjust the working height to the appropriate setting.
- Press and hold in the safety switch (4).
- Press the start/stop lever (3) completely in towards the handle. The lawn raker will switch on.
- Keep holding the start/stop lever and release the safety switch. Hold the handle with both hands.

Switching off
Turn off the mower by releasing the start/stop lever.
Working height
The working height is adjusted by moving the height adjuster to the correct position. Press the adjuster in to move it.

Scarifying
- Make sure that the extension lead always trails behind or lies on an area that has already been scarified.
- Be extra careful not to damage the extension lead or pinch it while working.
- Scarify with a slight overlap to achieve the best results.

Emptying the collector
- Switch the lawn raker off and disconnect it from the power supply.
- Lift the deck a little and detach the collector.
- Empty the collector and clean the discharge chute of any excessive grass and debris. Use a proper tool for cleaning the chute. Never use your hands or feet.
- Refit the collector.
Overload protection
The lawn raker is fitted with an overload safety cut-off protection device which switches the motor off if it is overloaded. The lawn raker might become overloaded if the working height setting is unsuitable for the terrain or if moss or thatch is preventing the drum from rotating. If the overload safety cut-off switch is triggered:
- Disconnect the lawn raker from the power supply and let the motor cool.
- Remove the debris or alter the working height setting before resuming work.
Care, maintenance and storage
Note: Always disconnect the lawn raker from the electrical supply and let it cool before carrying out any service or maintenance.
Care and maintenance
- Clean the exterior of the lawn raker using a damp cloth. Use only mild cleaning agents, never solvents or corrosive chemicals.
• Make sure that the ventilation slits on the motor housing are clean and free from contaminants. - Inspect the lawn raker regularly to make sure that all bolts and nuts are tight and that there is no visible damage.
- Regular checks should be made to ensure that the lawn raker is always in good running condition.
