Can the baby seat of the JANE MATRIX LIGHT stroller be oriented forward or backward?
Frequently Asked Questions - 19/04/2026
Response Notice-Facile

The JANE MATRIX LIGHT seat does not have a variable forward/backward orientation like a traditional stroller. Instead, it offers two main reclining positions that adapt to your child's age and development:

  • Reclined position (Group 0): the backrest is fully inclined so that the baby travels lying down. This position is highly recommended for newborns and babies up to about 6 months, providing excellent head and neck support as well as optimal safety.
  • Sitting position (Group 0+): the backrest is upright so that the baby travels sitting, suitable when the baby has gained more strength and independence, usually from 6 months onwards, allowing them to better observe their surroundings.

The MATRIX LIGHT features a 4-position reclining backrest for added flexibility. Positions R2 and R3 are intermediate and allow you to gradually adjust your baby's position according to their growth.

When using the MATRIX LIGHT in a car, it must be installed facing backward (against the direction of travel) for safety reasons. However, when you attach it to a JANÉ stroller chassis with the PRO-FIX system, you benefit from the flexibility of both backrest positions (reclined or sitting) without orientation constraints.

Where are the release buttons on the JANE MATRIX LIGHT car seat?
Frequently Asked Questions - 19/04/2026
Response Notice-Facile

The release buttons on the JANE MATRIX LIGHT car seat are essential for easily detaching the seat from the stroller chassis. Here’s where to find them and how to use them:

Locations of the release buttons

  • On the sides of the seat: Look for small levers or buttons located on both sides of the car seat. These buttons are often slightly recessed to prevent accidental activation.
  • At the back of the seat: Sometimes, a button or handle is located at the back, near the base that connects to the stroller chassis.

Tips for locating them

  • Ensure that the seat is properly positioned in the frame, as some buttons are only accessible when the seat is correctly installed.
  • Check that no items (like a cover or accessory) are blocking access to the buttons.
  • Press firmly but without forcing the buttons to release the seat.

By following these guidelines, you should be able to locate and use the release buttons on the JANE MATRIX LIGHT easily.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

In order to protect your baby adequately and to ensure their comfort and stability in the car, the following instructions must be strictly followed:

  • Your MATRIX LIGHT safety seat can be installed in both the front seat, if it does not have an airbag, and in the back seat of your car. Either way, we advise you to install it in the back seat. If you position it in the front seat of the car, this must NOT have an AIRBAG, or the airbag must be disconnected.
  • It is only suitable for cars fitted with three anchoring point automatic belts, approved according to Regulation ECE-16 or other equivalent rules. DO NOT use with a two anchoring point belt.
  • Not all safety systems are exactly the same, so we advise that you check your MATRIX LIGHT in the car in which it is going to be fitted.
It is very important not to use second-hand products, as JANÉ can only guarantee complete safety with items used by their first buyer.

JANE recommends that you replace your MATRIX LIGHT safety seat with a new one if it has been subjected to violent stresses in an accident.
- Check that all the straps are in the correct position and duly adjusted to your MATRIX LIGHT. Make sure that none of the straps are twisted. The child must understand that he must not play with the straps or fasteners under any circumstances.
For your baby's proper development, we advise you not to overuse the safety seat in the seated position on long journeys. Let the baby rest frequently in a Moses basket or bed in the reclining position.

1 Prior adjustments

Adjusting the height of the shoulder straps

For maximum protection the shoulder straps of the MATRIX LIGHT safety seat should be adjusted to just above the baby's shoulders. Check this height with the baby in the sitting or lying down position in the safety seat.

The straps can be adjusted using a tightener so that the seat adjusts to your baby during the whole stage of growth.

The MATRIX LIGHT safety seat has a quick shoulder strap height adjustment system, you just have to press a button and slide the adjustment mechanism along the backrest

1a MATRIX LIGHT has 6 different heights for the shoulder straps.

There are two possible ways of changing the position:

1a.1 To change the position when lying down, pull the plastic flap and slide the adjustment mechanism.

1a.2 To change the position when sitting down, press the button on the backrest and slide it to the required position.

Release the button or flap and move the adjustment mechanism to the nearest locking position, it should click into place. Check that it is locked by pulling the adjustment mechanism.

Changing the position of the handle

The carrying handle has 3 positions (figure 1b), each one of them has a specific function:

Position 1: Hood folded. Does not have a lock.

Position 2: Carrying position. Position for installing the seat and taking it off a JANE chassis and for carrying.

Position 3: AUTO position. For travelling in the car.

To change the position, press the double safety catch and then the lever on the handle and turn the handle to the required position.

CAUTION Check and adjust the height and length of the shoulder straps as the baby grows.

Choosing where to install the safety seat

Correctly choosing where to position the safety seat in the car can reduce the risk of injury to the baby in the event of an accident.

Reclining position, Group 0. The safety seat must be installed cross-wise in the back seats. MATRIX LIGHT occupies two seats: you can choose between a side and a middle seat, so an adult can travel alongside, or completely in the middle. If you decide on middle and side seats, place the MATRIX LIGHT so that the head is as far as possible from the door.

Seated position, Group 0+. Whenever possible, install the safety seat in the back seats. It is highly advisable that someone travels alongside the baby to take care of them. Of the three back seats, the middle one is the safest.

If you are travelling alone with your baby, it is a good idea to keep them in sight without being distracted while driving. You can position them in the passenger seat, providing it does NOT have an airbag or the airbag IS DISCONNECTED. Do not be distracted for any reason while driving: to take care of the baby, stop the car completely in a safe place.
