Frequently Asked Questions - ZI-EBM40V-AKKU Zipper

What battery charger should I use for the ZI-EBM40V-AKKU drill?
Use only the original Zipper charger supplied with the drill to avoid damage. The charger outputs 40V DC and charges the 4.0 Ah Li-Ion battery in approximately 2 hours.
Can I use the drill for masonry drilling?
This drill is not designed for masonry. Use a hammer drill for brick or concrete. It can drill into wood, metal, and plastic with the appropriate bits.
How do I change the drill bit?
Rotate the keyless chuck counterclockwise to open, insert the bit, then tighten clockwise by hand. For stubborn bits, use the chuck key (if included) or a firm grip.
Why is the battery not charging?
Check that the charger is plugged in and the battery is fully seated. If the battery is hot, allow it to cool first. Reset the overload protection by removing and reinserting the battery. If issues persist, replace the battery.
What is the maximum torque setting?
The drill offers 18 clutch positions plus a drill mode (max torque). For screwdriving, select a low number to avoid stripping screws. For drilling, set to the drill symbol.
How do I clean and maintain the drill?
Wipe the exterior with a dry cloth. Do not use water or solvents. Clean the chuck and vents with compressed air. Check carbon brushes every 50 hours of heavy use and replace if worn.
Is the drill compatible with other 40V batteries?
Only use Zipper 40V batteries (e.g., ZI-BAT40V) for safety and performance. Third-party batteries may cause damage or fire.
What safety precautions should I take?
Always wear safety goggles and hearing protection. Secure the workpiece. Keep hands away from rotating parts. Disconnect battery when changing accessories or servicing.
The drill stops suddenly during use. What should I do?
Release the trigger immediately. This indicates overload or battery protection. Remove the battery, let it cool for 10 minutes, then reinsert and resume work with less pressure.
Where can I find replacement parts?
Contact Zipper customer service or visit their website for authorized spare parts. Common parts include brushes, chucks, and batteries. Use only original parts for warranty validity.
