Frequently Asked Questions - DA26A Eldom

How do I descale my Eldom DA26A iron?
Use the self-cleaning function: fill the tank with water, set the iron to max temperature and steam setting, hold it over a sink, and press the self-clean button. Repeat if necessary. For heavy buildup, use a descaling solution as per manual.
What is the recommended temperature for ironing cotton?
Set the temperature dial to the highest setting (usually 3 dots or 'Cotton/Linen'). Wait for the thermostat light to go off before ironing.
Why is my iron leaking water?
This could be due to the temperature being too low for steam production. Ensure the iron is hot enough and the steam setting is appropriate. Also clean the anti-drip valve if clogged.
Can I use the iron for vertical steaming?
Yes, the DA26A features a vertical steam function. Hold the iron upright, press the steam boost button while it's hot, and steam hanging garments.
How do I clean the soleplate?
Wait until the iron is cool. Use a damp cloth with mild detergent or specialized soleplate cleaner. Avoid abrasive materials. For stubborn residue, use a baking soda paste.
What does the auto shut-off feature do?
The iron automatically turns off after 8 minutes of inactivity in the horizontal position or 30 seconds in the vertical position to prevent accidents.
How much water does the tank hold?
The water tank capacity is 300 ml, enough for about 15 minutes of continuous steaming.
Can I use tap water in the iron?
Yes, but in hard water areas, mix tap water with distilled water to reduce mineral buildup. Avoid using solely distilled water as it may affect steam production.
What should I do if the iron does not heat up?
Check the power cord and plug connection. Ensure the temperature dial is set to a non-zero position. If still not heating, contact customer service.
Is the iron cord retractable?
No, the Eldom DA26A has a fixed 2.5 m cord. There is no cord retraction mechanism.

USING THE IRON

The modern ANODIUM soleplate is characterised by a high resistance to scratches, non-adhesive surface and perfect sliding properties. It is also easy to clean.

Before first use remove protectives attached to the soleplate (12) and unfold the cord (5) completely. During initial exploitation there may appear a harmless odour which has no influence upon the usage of the iron and quickly disappears.

Before connecting to the mains put the iron on the heel rest (11), turn the temperature dial to „0” setting and dry/steam power selector (1) to setting “0” (no steam). The temperature dial setting is marked by the control lamp (8),

After plugging in and temperature setting the light of the control lamp (8) comes on. It goes out when the chosen temperature is reached.

The ironing temperature should be adjusted to the fabric. If the type of fabric is unknown set for minimal temperature and gradually increase the temperature until a satisfying effect is reached.

DRY IRONING

Put the iron on the heel rest (11), turn dry/steam power selector (1) to setting "0". Before plugging in or operating turn the temperature dial to "0" setting.

STEAM IRONING

Steam ironing with additional steam function is only possible with high temperature. The highest temperature is marked on the temperature dial as "MAX". The steam power is regulated by dry/steam power selector (1).

Additional steam power is obtained by pressing steam button (1) in position „SELF CLEAN" and it facilitates ironing of exceptionally tough wrinkles.

NOTICE. Steam is hot and there is a danger of burning. The soleplate heats very quickly but it needs more time to cool down. It should not be touched.

FILING THE WATER TANK

Before filling the water tank make sure that the device is unplugged and that the dry/steam power selector (1) is set on "0".

Use room temperature ordinary tap water or distilled water for ironing. Never use mineral water or water containing too much lime or water destined for car batteries.

To fill the water tank use a special measuring cup, the shape of which is adjusted to water-fill hole. Do not fill the water tank straight from the tap! While pouring water into opening remember to stick to "MAX" level mark on the side of the water tank (10) and not to overfill.

SELF CLEAN

It is recommended to use the self clean function to prevent from any buildup in the iron. In order to do it, follow this instruction:

  • fill the water tank until MAX line
  • plug in and set the temperature dial (7) to "MAX"
  • after the control lamp (8) goes out, unplug and hold horizontally e.g. over a sink
  • Set the slide (1) to SELF CLEAN position for about one minute and shake the iron
  • after cooling down wipe the soleplate with moistened cloth to remove any dirt

Water and steam coming from the iron during self cleaning are hot and there is a danger of burning.

WATER SPRAY

After filing the water tank you may sprinkle water on ironing surfaces by pressing spray button (3).

  • the iron has the heel rest (11) to be comfortably and firmly put
