Frequently Asked Questions - RG160 PRO RugGear

How do I perform a factory reset on the RugGear RG160 PRO?
Go to Settings > System > Reset options > Erase all data (factory reset). Confirm and the phone will restart. Alternatively, power off the device, press and hold Volume Up + Power buttons until recovery menu appears, then use volume keys to select 'Wipe data/factory reset' and press Power to confirm.
Is the RG160 PRO waterproof?
Yes, it has an IP68 rating, meaning it can be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. However, avoid saltwater and chlorinated water. Always ensure all ports are sealed before exposure.
How do I insert the SIM card and microSD card?
Remove the back cover (using the notch) and take out the battery. You will see slots for two Nano-SIMs and a microSD card. Insert the cards with gold contacts facing down, replace battery and cover.
How to enable glove mode on the RG160 PRO?
Go to Settings > Display > Glove mode and toggle it on. This increases touch sensitivity so you can use the screen while wearing gloves. You can also add the shortcut to the quick settings panel.
What is the SOS button and how do I use it?
The programmable SOS button is located on the side. By default, pressing it for 3 seconds sends an SOS message to pre-set contacts. You can configure it in Settings > Safety > SOS button. Assign contacts and message text.
How long does the battery last on a full charge?
With typical usage (calls, messaging, occasional web), the 4200 mAh battery lasts about 1-2 days. Heavy use with GPS, camera, or continuous data may reduce it to under a day. The battery is removable, so you can carry a spare.
How should I clean and maintain the device?
Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water. Gently wipe the screen and body. Do not use alcohol, solvents, or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the charging port and headphone jack are free of debris. If exposed to dirt, rinse with fresh water and dry thoroughly.
Does the screen have Gorilla Glass?
Yes, the RG160 PRO features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for scratch resistance. Combined with the rugged body, it offers good protection against drops and scuffs.
Can I use the phone while it is submerged?
The touchscreen may not function properly underwater. The device is designed to survive submersion, but you should avoid operating it underwater. The speakers may be temporarily muffled; shake or tap the phone gently to expel water from the grilles.
How do I update the software on my RG160 PRO?
Go to Settings > System > Advanced > System update. Tap Check for update. If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions. Ensure your battery is above 50% and you are connected to Wi-Fi to avoid data charges.

11 SPECIFIC ABSORPTION RATE (SAR) CERTIFICATION INFORMATION

This device meets international guidelines for exposure to radio waves

Your mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed not to exceed the limits for exposure to radio waves (radio frequency electromagnetic fields) recommended by international guidelines. The guidelines were developed by an independent scientific organization (ICNIRP) and include a substantial safety margin designed to assure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health.

The radio wave exposure guidelines use a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption or SAR. The SAR limit for mobile devices is 2.0 W/kg.

Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operating positions with the deice transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands. The highest SAR values under the ICNIRP guidelines for this device model are:

Maximum SAR for this model and conditions under which it was recorded

SAR (head)

0.393 W/kg

SAR (body-worn)

0.880 W/kg

During use, the actual SAR values for this device are usually well below the values stated above. This is because, for purposes of system efficiency and to minimize interference on the network, the operating power of your mobile device is automatically decreased when full power is not needed for the call. The lower the power output of the device, the lower its SAR value.

A body-worn SAR test has been performed on this device at a separation distance of 1.5 cm. To meet RF exposure guidelines during body-worn operation, the device must be positioned at least 1.5 cm away from the body.

Organizations such as the World Health Organization and the US Food and Drug Administration have suggested that if people are concerned and want to reduce their exposure, they could use a hands-free accessory to keep the wireless device away from the head and body during use, or they could reduce the amount of time spent using the device.
