Frequently Asked Questions - GZ 706 Guzzanti

How long does it take to make yogurt in the Guzzanti GZ 706?
The time setting ranges from 6 to 12 hours in 2-hour increments. Typically, yogurt is made in 6-8 hours, but longer fermentation results in a tarter flavor.
Can I use UHT milk without boiling?
Yes, UHT milk does not need to be boiled before making yogurt. Simply use it directly.
How do I clean the glass jars?
The glass jars are dishwasher safe. Alternatively, wash them in warm soapy water, rinse, and dry completely.
What should I do if the LCD shows 'OPEN'?
'OPEN' indicates an open circuit or no zero-cross signal. Check that the appliance is properly connected and the power supply is stable. If the condition persists, contact service.
Can I use yogurt from my previous batch as a starter?
Yes, but note that repeated use may thin the yogurt. If it becomes too thin, start with a fresh commercial yogurt.
Why did water separate from my yogurt?
This is normal. You can pour off the water or stir it back into the yogurt before eating.
How can I make thicker yogurt?
Use less milk (e.g., 900ml), add 3-4 tablespoons of powdered milk, or let the yogurt mature in the refrigerator for a day.
Is the appliance safe to use around children?
Children aged 8 and above can use it under supervision. Keep the appliance and cord out of reach of children under 8.
What does the warranty cover?
The warranty covers defects in material or workmanship for at least 1 year (2 years in Germany). It does not cover normal wear, misuse, or damage from external influences.
Can I make fruit yogurt in this machine?
You should only add fruits or flavorings after the yogurt is made. Adding them before may cause the recipe to fail. Mix in fresh fruit, jam, or vanilla after fermentation.

RECEIPT FOR PLAIN YOGURT

Yogurt culture as starter:

  1. Milk: 1400ml
  2. Yogurt culture: 2g

Fresh yogurt as starter:

  1. Milk: 1200ml
  2. Fresh yogurt: 130ml

Remark: Do not use expired milk or expired yogurt.

Ideas for recipes with yogurt

You can use plain yogurt to make yogurt containing fruit or yogurt with any flavor. There are no limits to your creativity, but do not do this until you have made the yogurt, or your recipe will not succeed.

Fruit yogurt

Mix in fresh fruit or a product made of fruit such as jam.

Other flavors:

Add vanilla sugar, vanilla, nuts, chocolate sprinkles, nougat, coconut flakes or other flavorings to the yoghurt.

Tsatsiki:

Add chopped cucumber and garlic to the yogurt as well as a little olive oil.

Notes

  • Home-made yogurt is generally more creamy and not as thick as commercial products.
  • Water may separate off during preparation, but this is normal. Just pour away the water or mix it back in.
  • You can use the yogurt you have made to start off the next batch. The more often you do this, the thinner your yogurt will become. If it becomes too thin, you should start afresh with a new yogurt you have bought.

- If you only use 900ml milk, this will make your yogurt a bit thicker.

- If you add 3-4 tablespoons of powdered milk, this will make your yogurt thicker.

- Yogurt will become thicker if you let it mature for a day in the refrigerator before eating.

- UHT milk does not need to be boiled before making yogurt.

- Instead of using yogurt cultures from another yogurt, you can also use yogurt powder bought from a health food shop or online.

- Yogurt can also be made with soya milk, in this case use a yogurt made with soya milk as the starter culture.

  1. Before cleaning, unplug the appliance.
  2. Clean the base and the cover with a damp cloth and avoid abrasives.
  3. Do not immerse the cord, plug or appliance in water or other liquids.
