Frequently Asked Questions - IAN 281487 AURIOL

How do I set the time manually on my Auriol IAN 281487 clock?
Press and hold the SET button for at least 4 seconds to enter manual mode. Then press and hold the SET button again until the hands reach the correct position. Briefly press SET to advance in one-minute steps. After 7 seconds of inactivity, the clock exits manual mode.
How does the DCF radio time signal work?
The clock automatically searches for the DCF signal from Frankfurt/Main, Germany, taking about 3–10 minutes. To start a manual search, press and hold the WAVE button for at least 5 seconds. Reception can be affected by obstructions like concrete walls or interference from other devices.
What type of battery does the clock use and how do I replace it?
The clock uses one 1.5V AA battery (included). Open the battery compartment, remove the old battery, and insert the new one with correct polarity as shown. Remove the insulation strip before first use.
How do I reset the clock to factory settings?
Press the RESET button to reset all settings to default values. This is useful if the clock stops responding or behaves erratically.
What should I do if the clock does not receive the DCF signal?
Relocate the clock near a window away from electronic devices. Concrete walls and metal objects can block the signal. You can also set the time manually; the manual setting will be overwritten once a DCF signal is received.
How do I clean and maintain the clock?
Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth only. Do not use water or cleaning agents as they may damage the device. Remove the battery if the clock will not be used for a long period.
Is the clock suitable for children?
This clock is not a toy. Keep it away from toddlers and small children. Batteries can be swallowed, which is a life hazard.
How should I dispose of the clock and its battery?
Dispose of the clock at a local recycling facility. Batteries must be recycled according to EU Directive 2006/66/EC; do not throw them in household waste. Remove spent batteries immediately to prevent leakage.
Can I use rechargeable batteries in this clock?
No, the clock is designed for a standard 1.5V AA alkaline battery. Rechargeable batteries (typically 1.2V) may not provide sufficient voltage and could cause malfunction.
What does the WAVE button do?
The WAVE button triggers a manual search for the DCF radio time signal. Press and hold it for at least 5 seconds to start the reception process, which takes a few minutes.

Radio Signal (DCF):

The DCF signal (time signal transmitter) consists of time pulses emitted by one of the most accurate clocks in the world close to Frankfurt / Main, Germany – this varies by 1 second in a million years.

Your radio-controlled clock receives these signals under ideal conditions up to a distance of approx. 1,500 km around Frankfurt / Main. Reception of the radio signal generally takes approx. 3-10 minutes.

Operation

● Receiving the DCF radio time signal

The wall clock automatically starts to search for the DCF radio time signal. This process takes about 3-10 minutes to complete.
