OPERATION

STRIPPING OF PAINT, VARNISH

Various paint finishes react to heat differently as far as time needed for stripping and how they appear when heated.

Latex may simply soften. Oil base paints will bubble or blister and may start to lift off the wood. Pretesting is recommended so you do not scorch the wood beneath by use of excess heat.

  1. Choose a suitable scraper, turn on heat gun and allow it to reach full heating power.
  2. Point the airflow at the work to be done, keeping the nozzle about 3–4" away from its surface.
  3. Allow the paint to thoroughly soften, moving the gun slightly from side to side.

TROUBLESHOOTING

OPERATING ISSUE RECOMMENDATIONS
Gun will not turn on. If the gun has recently beenused for an extended period of time, the internal thermostat may be keeping the gun from turning on. Allow the gun to cool for 20-30 minutes and try again.
Gun blows only cool air. Adjust the dial on the back of the unit.
Holes are forming in the shrink film when applying heat.Temperature and/or duration of heat is too intense.Move the nozzle farther from the film or turn the dial on the back of the gun to cooler temperatures.Move the gun in a back-and-forth motion to avoid keeping heat in a single spot for too long.
