What types of documents can I shred with the H-2608?

You can shred paper, credit cards, CD/DVDs, staples, and small paper clips. Avoid adhesive labels, continuous paper, clear sleeves, newspapers, cardboard, large paper clips, laminated documents, file folders, X-rays, and plastics not listed.

How to use the H-2608 shredder?

Plug in the device and set the switch to ON (I). Press the ON button (φ) to activate automatic mode. Insert paper into the slot and release. For CDs or cards, place the safety flap in position, then insert the media through the center. After use, set the switch to OFF (O).

What to do in case of a paper jam?

The electronic anti-jam system attempts to automatically correct the jam. If the 'Remove Paper' light turns on, press the REVERSE button (◀) to remove the paper, reduce the amount, and reinsert.

How to oil the shredder?

Use non-aerosol vegetable oil (ref. Uline S-16094). Apply oil along the insertion slot, then hold the FORWARD button (▶) pressed for 2 to 3 seconds. Oil after every bin emptying.

Why does the shredder stop suddenly?

This may be due to overheating (let it cool), an open bin (close it), a full bin (empty it), or contact with the SafeSense™ area (remove hands). If the SafeSense™ light stays on for more than 3 seconds, the unit shuts off; press the ON button to resume.

How to clean the automatic start infrared sensors?

Turn off and unplug the unit. Locate the sensors at the center of the insertion slot. Dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and gently clean off dirt. Repeat twice if necessary.

What is the maximum capacity per pass?

Up to 22 sheets of paper (20 lb, 8.5 x 11 in) or 1 CD/credit card. Capacity may be reduced with thicker paper or different voltage.

Can I shred paper clips or staples?

Yes, staples and small paper clips can be shredded. Avoid large paper clips that could damage the blades.

Is the H-2608 suitable for office use?

Yes, it is designed for household and light professional use, with a maximum usage rate of 5000 sheets per day. Use it indoors, at a temperature of 10 to 27 °C and humidity of 40 to 80%.

How to empty the bin and ensure it is properly closed?

Open the door, remove the bin and empty it. Close the door firmly. If the 'Bin Open' light is on, check that the bin is properly engaged.

SAFETY

• Operation, maintenance and service requirements are covered in these instructions. Read completely before operating shredder.
• Keep away from children and pets. Keep hands away from paper entry. Always set to OFF (O) or unplug when not in use.
• Keep foreign objects – gloves, jewelry, clothing, hair, etc. – away from shredder openings. If object enters top opening, switch to Reverse (40p back out object.
• Never use aerosol products, petroleum-based or aerosol lubricants on or near shredder. Do not use canned air or air dusters on shredder. Vapors from propellants and petroleum-based lubricants may combust causing serious injury.

• Do not use if damaged or defective. Do not disassemble shredder. Do not place near or over heat source or water.

• This shredder has a disconnect power switch that must be in the ON (I) position to operate the shredder. In case of emergency, move switch to OFF (O) position. This action will stop shredder immediately.

• Avoid touching exposed cutting blades under shredder head.
• Shredder must be plugged into a properly grounded wall outlet of the voltage and amperage designated on the label. The grounded outlet or socket must be installed near the equipment and easily accessible. Energy converters, transformers or extension cords should not be used with this product.
• Fire hazard – do not shred greeting cards with sound chips or batteries.
• For indoor use only.
• Unplug shredder before cleaning or servicing.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Plug in and put disconnect power switch in ON (I) position.

1. Press ON ( ) to activate (blue).

1. Feed paper straight into paper entry and release.

1. To shred CDs or credit cards, rotate safety flap into place.

1. Hold card/CD at edge. Feed into center of entry and release.

MAINTENANCE

OILING SHREDDER

All cross-cut shredders require oil for peak performance. If not oiled, a machine may experience diminished sheet capacity, intrusive noise when shredding and could ultimately stop running. To avoid these problems, we recommend oiling shredder each time user empties waste bin.

CAUTION! Use only a non-aerosol vegetable oil in long nozzle container, such as S-16094.

Follow oiling procedures below and repeat twice.

1. Apply oil across entry.

1. Press and hold Forward ( )▶ for two to three seconds.

CLEANING AUTO-START INFRARED SENSORS

Paper detection sensors are for maintenance-free operation. However, on rare occasions the sensors may become blocked by paper dust, causing the motor to run even when there is no paper present.

NOTE: Two paper detection sensors are located in the center of the paper entry.

1. Turn off and unplug shredder.

1. Locate auto-start infrared sensor.

1. Dip cotton swab in rubbing alcohol.

1. Using cotton swab, wipe away any contamination from the paper sensors.

Overheat Indicator	When the Overheat Indicator is illuminated:1. Allow the shredder to cool down.2. Resume shredding once the Overheat Indicator is no longer illuminated.
