This appliance can be used by children 8 years and older, as well as by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or with lack of experience and/or knowledge, if they are supervised or if they have been instructed with regard to safe use of the appliance and have understood the dangers that can result from use of the appliance.
  2. Children must not play with the appliance.

  3. Children are not allowed to perform cleaning and user maintenance, unless they are 8 years of age or older and are supervised.

  4. Keep the appliance and the power cord out of the reach of children under 8 years of age.

  6. Always use the appliance on a level, uncluttered and heat-resistant surface.

  7. Make sure that the lead cable does not hang over the edge of the worktop or table, since this can cause accidents, for example if small children pull on the cable.

  8. Route the lead cable so that it is prevented from being pulled or tripped over.
  9. Always disconnect the lead cable from the wall socket pulling on the plug, never on the cable.
  10. Never carry the appliance by the lead cable.
  11. Use the appliance only indoors.
  12. To prevent injuries, do not move the appliance as long as it is in operation.
  13. Do not use the appliance with accessories of other manufacturers or brands, to prevent damage.
  14. Disconnect the appliance from the wall socket after use and prior to cleaning. Never leave the appliance unattended when it is connected to the wall socket.

The manufacturer will not be liable in the event of incorrect assembly, improper or incorrect use or if repairs are carried out by unauthorized third parties.

BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. Remove all packaging materials and any transport safety devices. Keep packaging materials away from children - danger of suffocation!.
  2. Check if all parts are complete.
  3. Wipe the removable parts with a damp cloth or clean it in warm soapy water. Dry the parts carefully.

  4. Wipe the housing with a damp cloth. Make sure that no water can penetrate into the housing.

  5. Put the plug into a socket.

USE OF THE APPLIANCE

  1. The Chocolate Maker is ideal for melting chocolate and for tempering chocolate coatings of all kind for a variety of applications.
  2. Fill the melting pan with approx. 100 ~g of coarsely chopped chocolate coating or chocolate. Place the melting pan into the base element.
  3. For melting chocolate coating we recommend to use level II, for melting of chocolate you should use level I.
  4. Stir the chocolate coating from time to time during melting to avoid that the chocolate becomes lumpy. Only use heat-resisting plastic tools for stirring to avoid scratches on the metal parts.
  5. As soon as the chocolate coating is completely melted, reduce the heat to level I. The ideal temperature for working with the chocolate coating is approx. 32°C. This temperature is reached on level I in case of regular stirring. You may use a meat thermometer for measuring the temperature.
  6. Now you can use the melted chocolate coating / chocolate for all kinds of applications.
  7. If you do not use up all of the chocolate coating / chocolate, just let it cool down. You can keep the hardened chocolate for later use.
  8. After use, turn switch in 0 position and unplug the appliance.
  9. Di et chocolate
    Even diet chocolate can be used for all applications described below.

Always unplug the appliance, when it is not use and let it cool down before it is cleaned.

  1. Do not use any sharp or scouring agents.
  2. Wipe the housing with a damp cloth and dry it with a soft cloth.
  3. Take care to avoid water penetrating into the appliance.
  4. The lid, the melting pan and the accessories can be cleaned in warm soapy water and rinsed with clear water.
  5. All parts of the appliance must be dry before use.

COATING OF CAKES AND BISCUITS

  1. For coating of cakes and biscuits you may use all types of chocolate coating and other coatings to be melted normally in a bain-marie (e.g. hazelnut, lemon, vanilla coating).
  2. Spread a sufficiently large piece of aluminon foil on your working top. This facilitates cleaning and allows to recover acess chocolate.
  3. Put the cake or the biscuits on a cake grid gitter and place it on the aluminum foil.
  4. Pour the liquid coating/chocolate coating uniformly onto the cake. Smoothen it with the spatula, if necessary.
  5. After hardening you may recover the excess chocolate from the aluminum foil for later use.
  6. You may also dip biscuits only partially into the chocolate coating eintauchen or you may fill the chocolate coating into a plastic bag, cut off a very little tip and decorate the biscuits with thin chocolate stripes. Just follow your phantasy.

"Knitting needle cake" (Orange chocolate cake)

Ingredients:

3 eggs, 125 g butter, 125 g sugar, 1 bag of vanilla sugar, 12 bag of orange flavour, 200 g flour, 12 bag of baking powder, 2 tablespoons of orange liqueur (or as substitute orange juice) 200 g plain chocolate coating, 200 g cream, chocolate rolls (see below), candied orange slices

Preparation:

Whip butter, sugar and vanilla sugar, then add the eggs, finally add the sieved flour and the baking powder as well as the orange flavour and the orange liqueur.

Fillt the dough into a buttered mould with 26 cm ∅ and bake at 160 °C approx. 35 minutes. Then turn out of the mould onto a cake grid.

In the meantime melt approx 200 g plain chocolate coating.

Take a thick knitting needle and prick holes into the warm cake.

Pour melted chocolate into the holes, finally coat the entire cake and smoothen the coating.

After cooling down whip the cream, add some sugar, and distribute the whipped cream on top of the cake. Decorate with chocolate rolls and candied orange slices.

CHOCOLATE FONDUE

  1. Melt milk chocolate, plain chocolate or white chocolate, as described above.
  2. Peel fruits of the season and cut it into bit-sized pieces, e.g. apples, strawberries, raspberries, bananas etc. serve the fruit pieces in the dishes.
  3. At table, pick up one piece of fruit and

dip it into the hot chocolate. Take it out, let it cool down for a moment and then enjoy it!

Variations

  1. Round off the chocolate with a little bit cream or milk to have a more creamy mass.
  2. Season the chocolate at your taste, e.g. with a pinch of cinnamon, cardamom or a dash of orange liqueur or vanilla syrup.
  3. Serve the fondue with crêpes rolls in addition to the fruit:
  4. Bake thin crêpes (it's very easy with the UNOLD crêpes maker). Spread some jam on the warm crêpes (e.g. apricot jam or orange marmelade) and roll the crêpes firmly, then cut into bit-sized pieces.

WARNING:

Do not prepare chocolate fondue in a traditional fondue with burner, the chocolate might burn.

  1. Melt chocolate as described above.
  2. Let the chocolate cool down a little bit.
  3. Pour the still liquid chocolate into the plastic moulds and smoothen it with the spatula.
  4. Let cool down the chocolate decorationen in the refrigerator and then turn out cautiously.

Hollow forms made of chocolate

Prepare a filled heart as a surprise for your dears:

Cool the mould in the deep freezer, then pour the melted chocolate into the cool mould and shake it until you receive a firm chocolate layer of approx. 2 mm. Pour the excess chocolate back into the melting pan. Let the chocolate heart cool off in the refrigerator. Turn it out very cautiously and fill it with fruit, cream, ice cream etc.

This method can also be used e.g. for paper muffin moulds. We recommend to put 2 or 3 paper moulds one into the other for a better stability and to place the filled moulds for cooling it into a muffin sheet. After cooling remove the paper cautiously and fill the chocolate shells.

Mocha beans

To prepare mocha beans add approx. 12 - 14 teaspoons of soluble mocha powder or very finely ground espresso powder to the chocolate and pour the flavoured chocolate into the respective mould.

Chocolate rolls

Chocolate rolls are a spectacular decoration for all cakes and desserts.

Pour the melted chocolate coating in a very thin coating on a cooled working top, best on a cool marble plate or the backside of a baking tin. Shortly before the chocolate hardens, push ot with a spatula to rolls.

CHOCOLATES & SWEETS

  1. The Chocolate Maker is ideal for coating homemade truffles or dried fruit.
  2. Prepare a truffle mass according to the basic recipe below or to your own recipe. Form truffles and cool it in the refrigerator (best overnight).
  3. Dip the cooled truffles by means of the spiral fork into the tempered chocolate coating (level I) and let it cool on a grid.
  4. Let the coating dry a little bit, just before it becomes hard, roll the truffles either on a grid or in desiccated coconut, cracknel, cocoa powder, icing sugar etc.
  5. Homemade chocolates have to be stored in a cool place (e.g. in the refrigerator) and should be consumed within short time. Please observe the recommended consumption date in your recipe.

Basic recipe for truffles (approx. 20 pcs)

Melt 200 g chopped chocolate (plain, milk, or white chocolate) on level I. Heat 100 g of cream, let it cool down a little bit, then mix it with the chocolate, stir thourogly and let it cool down.

You may flavour this basic recipe e.g. with various liqueurs, soluble espresso powder etc.

Whip the cooled chocolate with a handblender, e.g. the ESGE-Zauberstab, fill the cream into a piping bag and spray small truffles on a plate covered with baking paper. Cool the truffles overnight in the refrigerator. Optionally you may cool the complete mass and then use a ball cutter to form balls. Proceed as described above.

Homemade ice chocolate

Melt 100 g milk chocolate and 20 g coconut grease, stir thoroughly and pour into the moulds. Let it cool off in the refrigerator and keep cool until consumption.

Chocolate fruit

To prepare chocolate fruit take dried fruit of your choice (e.g. apple slices, pear slices, dried plums) or candied fruits (e.g. pineapple, mango, ginger) and dip it into the chocolate. Let it cool on a grid.

Crossies – sweet or salty

For sweet crossies take approx. 100 g sliced almonds or nuts and roast them slightly in 1 tablespoon of butter, add 1 tablespoons of sugar and caramelize. Let the mixture cool of on an oiled plate and chop it coarsely. If desired, you may add some dired sultanas or cornflakes. Melt chocolate and add the mixture, when the chocolate is still liquid. Before the chocolate is hardening put small quantities on a sheet covered with baking paper. Let the crossies cool off completely and store it in a cool place.

For salty crosses roast approx. 100 g of sliced almonds, nuts, pistachios or pumpkin seeds in some butter and salt it. Let dry on a sheet of kitchen paper. Give the salted almonds etc. into the melted chocolate and continue as described above. For salty crosses we recommend plain chocolate coating.

SAUCES

  1. The Chocolate Maker is the ideal appliance for keeping warm sweet or salty sauces and for melt butter for be served with asparagus or other vegetables.
  2. Stir the sauces from time to time to avoid the occurrence of hide on top.
  3. Melt butter on level I.
  4. To prepare brown butter melt the butter on level II and let it brown. Observe the process and switch back to level I before the butter becomes too dark.
  5. For keeping warm Sauce Hollandaise or other sauces we recommend level

GUARANTEE CONDITIONS

We grant a 24 months guarantee, and in case of commercial use a 12 months guarantee, starting from the date of purchase for any damage demonstrably due to manufacturing defects and when the appliance has been used according to its intended use. Within the warranty period we will remedy defective materials or workmanship through repair or replacement, at our option. Our warranty terms apply only to appliances sold in Germany and Austria. For other countries, please contact the responsible importer. In the event of a claim for remedy of defects, please send the appliance to our after sales service, properly packaged, together with a copy of the automatically generated sales receipt, which must show the date of purchase, and a description of the defect. You can print out a return receipt on our website www.unold.de/ruecksendung. (only for entries from Germany and Austria). The warranty does not cover damage from normal wear, improper handling and failure to comply with the maintenance and care instructions. The warranty is void if repairs or modifications are made to the appliance by third parties. Any claims of the end consumer vis-à-vis the retailer are not limited by this warranty.
