Storing bottles

Make sure that the bottles do not touch the back of the cavity, so that the air can flow freely inside.

Essentiel B ECV35-CA1 - Storing bottles - 1
The capacity of the wine cellar is 36 bottles.

The combination of drawers, baskets and shelves as shown above that result in the most efficient use of energy for the refrigerating appliance.

The storage capacity of the wine cellar is based on standard Bordeaux-style bottles (750 ml). Depending on the bottles you are keeping in your cellar, its capacity may vary.

Essentiel B ECV35-CA1 - Storing bottles - 2

If you don't have enough bottles to fill the wine cellar, distribute the bottles evenly using all the available shelves, rather than loading up the top or bottom of the appliance.

Given the variation in temperature caused by the flow of air inside the wine cellar, bear in mind that the lowest temperature will be at the bottom of the appliance and the highest temperatures at the top.

Going from top to bottom, the bottles should be arranged in the following order:
- Strong red wines
Rose or medium red wines
White wines

We recommend storing the wine at a temperature slightly lower than the serving temperature for decanting and drinking.

CAUTION: Only store unopened bottles. Never place food in the wine cellar to prevent bacterial contamination.

Practical tips for storing wine

Do not store bottles with their packaging.
- The cork of an old bottle should always be kept moist when it is placed in the wine cellar. There should be no air gap between the wine and the cork.
- An open-style bottle shelf is beneficial because it allows for air circulation, helping moisture that condenses on the bottle to dry quickly.
- Pour the wine into a carafe a few hours before drinking to allow it to settle and reach its ideal tasting temperature. For red wine, decant 4 to 5 hours before serving. White wine and most rose wines can be served directly from the bottle. Champagne should always be kept the coolest. Champagne should be kept the coldest; take it out just before drinking and store it in a cooler while serving.
- Please note that the wine storage temperature is always slightly lower than the ideal serving temperature, as the wine will warm up by several degrees once decanted.
- Keep the interior of the wine cellar dry.
- Wine does not have any expiry date and different wines have different aging times. Check with the producer for recommended storage times.
- In the event of a power cut, avoid opening the door as much as possible to protect your wines. If the power cut is for a long period of time, consider other refrigeration solutions to protect your wines.

Wine serving temperatures

These temperatures are given as a rough guide.

Red wine 15.5-18°C
White wine 10-15°C
Sparkling wine/Champagne 7.2-9.5°C
Rosé wine 9.5-10.5°C
Whiskey 16-18°C
Cognac 16-18°C

Cleaning and maintenance

For hygiene reasons, the inside of the appliance and accessories should be cleaned regularly.

IMPORTANT:

High ambient temperatures (e.g. on a hot summer's day) and a cold setting on the temperature control panel can cause the compressor to operate continuously in order to maintain a low temperature in the appliance. However, this can cause ice to form. If this happens, use the temperature control buttons to choose a warmer setting.

Essentiel B ECV35-CA1 - IMPORTANT: - 1

Switch off the appliance and unplug it before cleaning it.

Defrosting the appliance

During operation, the back wall of the wine cellar may become covered with frost when the compressor is running. When the compressor is not running, the frost melts and any condensation water drains through the drain hole into the drainage tank, where it evaporates.

Cleaning the appliance

The appliance must be cleaned twice a year.

  • Turn off and unplug the appliance.
  • Wipe the inner and outer surfaces of the appliance and its racks with a soft, damp cloth. If they are very dirty, rub them with a mild detergent, rinse with water and then wipe with a clean cloth.
  • Check that the drain hole is clear and remove any blockages when cleaning.
  • Remove the dust on the back of the appliance to prevent a fire hazard or overheating the appliance.
  • Do not use abrasive or caustic detergents, or metal scrapers.
  • Never spray water directly into the appliance. This could cause rust or reduce insulation.
The rubber door seals (gasket) must be cleaned regularly and kept in good condition.
  • Never use a steam cleaner to clean the appliance. The moisture generated can accumulate on the electrical components and could expose users to the risk of an electric shock! The hot steam can also damage the interior parts made of plastic.
The appliance must be completely dry before being restarted.

In case of prolonged absence or non-use

  • Turn off the appliance.
  • Unplug, empty, and clean the appliance.
  • Leave the door open to prevent odours or mould from arising.
