Frequently Asked Questions - YT-10 Vevor

How to start the Vevor YT-10 pottery wheel?
Place an appropriate amount of clay in the center of the turntable. Plug in the power and ensure the water basin is installed. Turn on the switch, select the rotation direction (forward/backward), then adjust the speed via the touch screen or the pedal. Make sure the pedal and switch are in the off position before plugging in.
How to adjust the rotation speed?
The speed is adjusted either with the speed control pedal or via the touch screen. On the screen, use the slow down (7C) and speed up (7D) buttons to adjust the speed between 50 and 300 rpm.
How to reverse the rotation direction?
Use the forward/reverse switch (7B). Never change the rotation direction while the motor is running: first stop the machine, wait for the motor to come to a complete stop, then toggle the switch.
What to do if the machine does not start?
First check that the power plug is properly inserted. Then check if the leak protector (8) is activated: the indicator light (8C) should be on. Test the protector by pressing the test button (8A); if the light goes out, press the reset button (8B) after eliminating any leakage risk.
Why does the machine vibrate or shake?
The machine must be placed on a perfectly flat and stable floor. Adjust the four feet of the machine so that it is level. A shake can also come from poorly centered clay or excessive force during molding.
What to do if the turntable makes noise?
Check that the water basin is properly installed and does not touch the turntable. If the basin rubs, reposition it. An abnormal noise can also come from a loose fastener: check the attachments under the machine.
How to properly clean the pottery wheel?
After use, remove clay residues from the turntable and basin using a sponge or damp cloth. Never rinse the machine with water: wipe with a dry cloth to avoid oxidation of the aluminum plate. Also clean the tools and store them.
How to avoid air bubbles in the clay?
Bubbles are often due to poorly kneaded clay. If bubbles appear during molding, pause the machine, prick the bubbles with a needle (tool G), plug the holes with clay, then smooth the surface by restarting the machine.
How to center the clay on the turntable?
Place the ball of clay in the center of the turntable. Wet your hands, then apply diagonal downward pressure with your left palm at the eight o'clock position on the turntable. Use uniform and steady force to center the clay. Correct posture and synchronized movements are essential.
What to do if the clay cracks during molding?
Cracks can come from excessive force during lifting or too fast molding speed. Lift the clay with small, uniform pressures. If the clay is too dry, moisten it slightly. Spiral-shaped clay indicates that the machine speed is too high relative to the speed of your hands.
