1. Product Working Principle and Structure Introduction:

Working Principle:

The Power Liftgate is an electric drive device that converts the rotational motion of the motor into the linear reciprocating motion of the push rod. The strut motor is controlled by the tailgate ECU controller module to achieve the up and down extension and retraction of the electric strut, thereby completing the lifting and lowering action of the tailgate.

3. Power liftgate installation steps (Porsche Panamera for example)

3.1 Remove the interior panel of the vehicle's tailgate.

3.2 Then, disconnect the power tailgate plug from the vehicle's connection point.

3.3 Using a flat-head screwdriver to remove the clips from the old tailgate, then install the new one. Same method for both sides.

3.4 After installing the new tailgate, reinstall the original panel.

3.5 Use diagnostic tools to connect to the car and clear error codes caused by replacement of the power tailgate.

3.6 After clearing the error codes, you can activate the power tailgate closing using the following methods: 3.6.1 Press the tailgate close button directly. 3.6.2 Manually close the tailgate and then press the tailgate open button.

3.6.3 Reset the control module by using diagnostic tools like Autel or Launch then press the tailgate close button.

3.7 Manually close the tailgate by holding it with both hands and lowering it slowly until the lock engages with the latch.

3.8 Troubleshooting: If the error code status is inactive or intermittent, it can be cleared by using the diagnostic tool.

Permanent error code indicates an electrical fault in the tailgate; tailgate replacement is required.

4. Precautions for Installing the Power Tailgate Strut

- To ensure the safety and proper functioning of our products, installation should be performed by qualified professionals. Do not disassemble the product, and avoid forcibly pushing or pulling the tailgate to prevent vehicle damage or safety incidents;

- Before installing the product, check the dashboard display functions, ensure button operations are normal, and inspect for any scratches on the interior and exterior surfaces. Report any issues to the customer immediately.

- Check if the power tailgate strut operates correctly and if the indicator lights are functioning properly.

● Turn off the engine and prepare the necessary tools;

- For Installers: Remove any metal objects and other hard materials from the vehicle to prevent damage or scratches during installation.

- Carefully remove and store car parts to avoid scratching the dashboard. Clean up any wire fragments promptly and ensure connectors are well-insulated to prevent short circuits.

- Route the wiring according to the original vehicle layout. Secure each wire harness to avoid interference with moving parts such as the steering column, accelerator, and brake pedals.

• Connect each wire harness following the original factory wiring scheme, paying attention to the grounding wire.
• Do not replace wires or components while powered. ● After installation, manually close the tailgate to allow the system to initialize.
• Ensure the tailgate is secured during the installation process to prevent it from falling and causing injury.
