STEP 5

Repeat step 1 and step 4 for the other J-cradles.

Make sure all screws are locked.

STEP 6

With another person's help, load the kayak onto the car rooftop and center the kayak between the two J-cradles. Make sure the cockpit is facing toward you (see figure 3).

STEP 7

Route the free end of the strap (9#) around the top of the longer arms of the J-cradle. Pull and route both the buckle end and free end of the strap (9#) around the kayak. Pull down the free end of the strap (9#) until the buckle end of the strap is positioned halfway up the side of the kayak. Thread the free end of the strap down under the crossbar. See figure 4.

Press the buckle and insert the free end through the buckle. Pull down to take up the excessive strap to avoid the excessive strap flapping in the wind.

Repeat step 6 and step 7 for the other kayaks.
