Getting started

  • Thoroughly clean the carafe and reusable filter in warm soapy water. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly.
  • Fill the water reservoir with cold water to the maximum level indicated (12 cups).
  • Run the coffee maker for two cycles with water only (i.e. no coffee) in order to rinse it thoroughly. Pour the resulting hot water away.

Use

  1. Open the lid and fill the reservoir with cold water using the carafe. Use the graduations located on the carafe. The water level in the reservoir must never be below the minimum level mark or above the maximum level mark (12 cups).

Miogo MDCM1 - Use - 1

  1. Insert a size 4 paper filter into the filter holder or use the permanent filter provided.
  2. Fill it with the required amount of ground coffee (as a rule of thumb, count 1 teaspoon of ground coffee per cup).
  3. Close the filter holder.
  4. Place the carafe, with its lid, on the hotplate and press the on/off button. The power-on light switches on.
  5. The coffee begins to flow into the carafe after a few seconds.

Note: your coffee maker has an anti-drip system: while brewing coffee, you can briefly remove the carafe and pour yourself a cup of coffee. By removing the carafe from the hotplate, the fl ow of coffee stops momentarily. Put the carafe back on the plate within 30 seconds so that the coffee doesn't overfl ow from the fl iter.

  1. The hotplate stays hot until the appliance is switched off. In this way, the coffee will stay hot for a period of 40 minutes. After this time, the coffee maker will automatically shut off.

Warning: do not open the lid while the coffee is brewing. Steam as well as boiling hot water can be ejected: risk of burns!

Moreover, the carafe gets hot when the appliance is on. As a result, it should only be held by the handle. Do not touch any of the hot surfaces of the appliance

  1. If you want to manually stop the appliance, press the on/off button. The power-on light switches off.

Cleaning and maintenance

CLEANING

  • Unplug the coffee maker from the power socket and wait for it to cool down completely before cleaning.
  • Never immerse the appliance, power cord or plug in water or any other liquid.
  • Do not use abrasive detergents or a scouring sponge to clean the appliance as this will damage its coating.
  • Open the lid and remove the fi liter holder. Throw away the paper fi liter and the grinds or discard the grinds from the permanent fi liter.
  • Clean the removable parts of the coffee maker (carafe, permanent fi liter and fi liter holder) in hot soapy water. Proceed gently for the permanent fi liter. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly.
  • You can wipe the exterior and interior surfaces (including the hotplate) with a slightly damp sponge or soft cloth.

DESCALING

  • Descale your appliance regularly to keep it in good condition.
  • The descaling frequency depends on the hardness of the water and how often you use the appliance. When used daily, we recommend that you descale the coffee maker once every two months.
  • You can use a commercially available liquid or powder descaler for coffee makers. In this case, refer to the instructions provided by the manufacturer of the descaling product.
  • You can also descale your coffee maker with cleaning vinegar. Fill the reservoir with water and 2 tablespoons of white vinegar, then run the coffee maker.
  • Empty out the descaling solution from the carafe and then run the coffee maker again 2-3 times with clean water and without coffee to rinse it thoroughly.

Never use other descaling methods than those recommended above. The warranty does not cover kettles that do not work or work poorly because they are not descaled.
