Frequently Asked Questions - SS-10715 Sogo

How long should I freeze the inner bowl before use?
The inner bowl should be placed in a freezer at -18 °C or lower for 10 to 12 hours before making ice cream or sorbet.
Can I use an extension cord with the ice cream maker?
It is not recommended to use an extension cord. If necessary, ensure its power rating is at least equal to that of the appliance (12 W) and position it to avoid tripping hazards.
How to clean the inner bowl?
Let the inner bowl return to room temperature, then hand wash it with warm soapy water. Do not immerse it in water and dry it thoroughly.
What to do if the motor stops during use?
This may be due to motor overheating. Turn off the appliance, unplug it, and let the motor unit cool down. The safety protection will reset automatically.
Can I add alcohol to my recipes?
Adding alcohol inhibits the freezing process. It is not recommended if you want a firm texture.
Are the parts dishwasher safe?
Yes, the lid (without the motor), shaft, paddle, and outer bowl are dishwasher safe with a gentle cycle. The inner bowl and motor unit must be hand washed.
How much mixture should I pour into the bowl?
Stop pouring at 4 cm from the rim of the inner bowl (about 1.575 inches) because the mixture will increase in volume as it freezes.
Can I use the ice cream maker to crush ice?
No, the appliance is not designed to crush ice blocks or extremely hard foods. Use it only for liquid or semi-liquid preparations.
How to know if the ice cream is ready?
The ice cream is ready when it has a soft and creamy consistency. The preparation time varies between 20 and 40 minutes. You can transfer it to a container to firm up in the freezer.
What if the rotation direction changes during preparation?
This is normal: the motor reverses direction if the mixture becomes too thick to prevent overheating. If the direction change is too frequent, stop the machine as the ice cream is likely ready.

THE MACHINE MUST BE SWITCHED ON BEFORE ADDING THE ICE CREAM OR SORBET RECIPE TO PREVENT THE MIX FROM IMMEDIATELY FREEZING ON THE INSIDE OF THE INNER BOWL.

  1. Use the chute and pour the ice cream or sorbet mix into the inner bowl.
  2. When pouring mixture into the bowl, always stop at least 4 cm (1.575 inch) from the top, as the mixture will increase in volume during freezing.
  3. Allow the mixture to churn until frozen or the desired consistency is reached. This can take up to 20 to 40 minutes, but most recipes will be ready in less time.
  4. Switch off, remove the power unit/lid. The ice cream is ready to serve.

IMPORTANT

  • Do not stop and start the machine during the freezing process, as the mixture may freeze in contact with the bowl and prevent movement of the paddle.
  • To avoid overheating the motor, the direction of rotation will change if the mixture becomes too thick. If the direction of rotation continues to change, stop the machine when the mixture is ready.
  • In the unlikely event of the motor overheating, a safety cut out will operate causing the motor to stop. If this happens, switch off, unplug the machine and allow the power unit to cool.
  • For the best result of ice cream, the paddle will contact with the inside of the inner bowl when the paddle moves.
  • The ice cream produced should be a soft spoonable type. This can be transferred to a separate container for storage in the freezer or if you wish to give the ice cream some firmness before eating.

Important

  • Do not use metal utensils to remove mix from the bowl.
  • Do not remove the inner bowl from the freezer until ready to make ice cream.

Hints

• We suggest that you keep the inner bowl in the freezer so that it is ready for use. Place in a plastic bag before freezing. Freeze the bowl in the upright position. • Always make sure the inner bowl is thoroughly dry before placing in the freezer. - Do not puncture or heat the inner bowl. - The inner bowl should be placed in a freezer that is operating at a temperature of -18° Centigrade (-0.40° Fahrenheit) or below for 12 hours before use. - For best results always refrigerate the ingredients before making ice cream. - The addition of alcohol to recipes inhibits the freezing process.
