Before Initial Use
I. Wipe the device with a clean, damp cloth. Clean the grinding container (14) and the collecting container (3) with detergent and warm water (see the "Cleaning and Storage" chapter).
2. Set up the device and connect it (see the "Set-Up and Connection" chapter).
3. Before you first enjoy a coffee made from freshly ground coffee beans, we recommend that you carry out a trial run to remove any possible production residues. To do this, follow the instructions in the "Handling and Operation" chapter. Do not use this coffee powder!

When the device is first used, production-related additives (e. g. grease) may cause a small amount of smoke and / or an odour to be produced. This is normal and not a device defect.
- Clean the device and accessories.
Set-Up and Connection
PLEASE NOTE!
- Only connect the device to a plug socket that is properly installed. The plug socket must also be readily accessible after connection so that the connection to the mains can quickly be isolated. The mains voltage must match the technical data of the device.
- Do not use the device in conjunction with extension cables.
-
Lay the connecting cable in such a way that it does not become squashed or bent and does not come into contact with hot surfaces.
-
Fully unwind the connecting cable.
- Place the device on the kitchen unit or another dry, solid, flat, heat-resistant and hard-wearing work surface. Ensure there is sufficient clear space on all sides (at least 20~cm to the sides and 30~cm above).
- Plug the mains plug into a plug socket.
Handling and Operation
Adding Coffee Beans
- Remove the lid (I) from the grinding container (14).
- Fill the grinding container with coffee beans (approx. 250 g). Do not overfill it!
- Place the lid back on the grinding container.

When you switch to another type of coffee, there will still be coffee powder from the previous type in the grinder shaft (13). The grinder shaft may need to be cleaned beforehand (see the "Cleaning and Storage" chapter - "Cleaning the Grinding Shaft").
Setting the Grinding Fineness
Twist the grinding container (14) to the right or left until the scale mark on the grinding container points to the position with the grinding fineness you want on the display (12) (Picture B).
35 different grinding levels can be set:
Level 1 - 14 (Fine) - ideal for manually brewed "Turkish" coffee, espresso portafilter machines or espresso makers
Level 15 – 25 (Medium) – ideal for manual filter coffee and for filter coffee machines
Level 26 - 35 (Coarse) - ideal for use with French press or cold brew coffee

When you switch to another grinding strength, there will still be coffee powder with the previous grinding strength in the grinder shaft (13). The grinder shaft may need to be cleaned beforehand (see the "Cleaning and Storage" chapter - "Cleaning the Grinding Shaft").
Grinding the Coffee Beans
- Make sure that the collecting container (3) is placed correctly under the coffee powder outlet (7). The lid can be placed on, but the silicone stopper must then be open! If you want to transfer the coffee powder directly into a portafilter, slide the portafilter holder onto the mount (8) on the motor unit (9) (Picture C). You do not then need the collecting container.
- Make sure that there are sufficient coffee beans in the grinding container (14) and fill it if necessary (see "Adding Coffee Beans").
-
Set the grinding fineness you want (see "Setting the Grinding Fineness").
-
Turn the coffee quantity dial (10) clockwise to the quantity of coffee powder you want (2 - 12 cups).
Note that with a coarse grinding fineness setting you will get more coffee powder than with a fine grinding fineness setting.
- Press the button (2) to start the grinding process. The grinder (13) starts to operate.
- Pull the collecting container or portafilter forwards out of the motor unit.
The freshly ground coffee powder can now be processed further.
If you do not want to use the coffee powder directly, you can store it in the collecting container for several days but, if you have not already done so, place on the lid and make sure that the silicone stopper is securely fitted in the lid.

To obtain a successful result, you should keep a very close eye on the ratio of coffee powder to water. If the water content predominates, the coffee loses its taste. If in turn you use too much coffee powder, the coffee becomes too strong. The dosing does of course vary just like tastes vary from person to person and from speciality coffee to speciality coffee, so you need to slowly get to know your own ideal ratio.
Cleaning and Storage
PLEASE NOTE
-
Do not use any toxic, corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents or scouring sponges to clean the device. These may damage the surface.
-
Tap out the collecting container (3) and its lid, the grinding container (14) and the lid (1) and clean everything with the cleaning brush that is supplied (6) or wipe with a cloth. If they are very dirty, detergent and warm water can be used.

- Wipe down the motor unit (9) with a damp cloth. If necessary, use a little detergent to remove more intense soiling.
- Check the connecting cable regularly for any damage.
Cleaning the Grinding Shaft
- Twist the grinding container (14) towards the open lock symbol on the motor unit (9). The marking on the grinding container must be pointing to . F the grinding container up and off.
- For a more thorough clean, take out the grinder: Remove the outer ring of the grinder and the silicone ring. If necessary, unscrew the nut so that the grinding cone can also be removed.
- Clean the grinder shaft (13) on the inside with the cleaning brush that is supplied (6).
- If you removed the grinding cone, reinsert this first and fix it in place with the nut.
- Place the grinding container on the motor unit so that the marking on the grinding container is pointing to on the motor unit. Press down the grinding container and twist it clockwise. It now fits correctly on the motor unit again.

Store the device and all accessories in a dry, clean, frost-free place that is protected from direct sunlight and cannot be accessed by children or animals.

Disposal

Dispose of the packaging material in an environmentally friendly manner so that it can be recycled.

The adjacent symbol (crossed-out bin underlined) means that used devices should not be disposed of in the domestic waste, but should instead be taken to special collection and return systems.
Owners of used devices from private households can take them free of charge to the collection points of the public waste disposal authorities or the disposal points which are set up by manufacturers and distributors under the Electrical Equipment Act so that they can be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way and valuable raw materials can be recovered. If they are not disposed of properly, toxic ingredients may escape into the environment and cause harm to the health of humans, animals and plants. Businesses which market electrical and electronic devices are also obliged to take back used devices.
Waste prevention makes an even more valuable contribution to protecting the environment. This means if possible, as well as continuing to use or repair a device yourself, passing it on to another user also represents an ecologically beneficial alternative to disposal.
