Before Initial Use
I. Remove all packaging materials and any possible protective films used for protection during transportation. Never remove the rating plate and any possible warnings!
2. Before you first enjoy any freshly ground coffee beans, we recommend that you carry out a trial run to remove any possible production residues. To do this, follow the instructions in the "Handling and Operation" chapter. Do not use this coffee powder!

When the device is first used, production-related additives (e.g. grease) may cause a small amount of smoke and / or an odour to be produced. This is normal and not a device defect.
- Clean the device and accessories (see the "Cleaning and Storage" chapter).
Setting Up and Connecting the Device
PLEASE NOTE
- The surfaces of furniture may possibly contain elements which can attack and soften the feet of the device. If necessary, place a suitable pad below the feet.
- Always set up the device with a clear space at the sides (at least 20 cm) and clear space above it (at least 30 cm) on a flat, solid, non-sensitive surface.
- Only connect the device to a plug socket that is properly installed and matches the technical data of the device. The plug socket must also be readily accessible after connection so that the connection to the mains can quickly be isolated.
- Lay the connecting cable in such a way that it does not become squashed or bent and does not come into contact with hot surfaces.
I. Place the device in a suitable location, following the safety notices and the notices provided at the beginning of this chapter.
2. Fully unwind the mains cable and insert the plug into a plug socket.
Handling and Operation
Adding Coffee Beans
I. Remove the lid (7) from the grinding container (8).
2. Fill the grinding container with coffee beans (approx. 160 g). Do not overfill it!
Please Note: The MAX marking on the grinding container tells you how many coffee beans you need to add so that, even with the coarsest grinding fineness (12-15) and the maximum quantity of coffee (S), you still do not need to add any more during the grinding process.
- Place the lid back on the grinding container.

When you switch to another type of coffee, there will still be coffee powder from the previous type in the grinder shaft (1). The grinder shaft may need to be cleaned beforehand (see the “Cleaning and Storage” chapter – “Cleaning the Grinder Shaft”).
Setting the Grinding Fineness
Twist the grinding container (8) to the right or left until the scale mark on the grinding container points to the position with the grinding fineness you want on the display (10).
Fifteen different levels can be chosen:
– all the way to the left (FINE): finest grinding level
– all the way to the right (COARSE): coarsest grinding level
Grinding Levels
Level 1 – 4 (Fine) – ideal for manually brewed “Turkish” coffee or espresso portafilter machines
Level 5 – II (Medium) – ideal for manual filter coffee and for filter coffee machines
Level 12 – 15 (Coarse) – ideal for use with French press or cold brew coffee

When you switch to another grinding strength, there will still be coffee powder with the previous grinding strength in the grinder shaft (1). The grinder shaft may need to be cleaned beforehand (see the “Cleaning and Storage” chapter – “Cleaning the Grinder Shaft”).
Grinding the Coffee Beans
- Make sure that the collecting container (6) fits correctly in the motor unit (3). When it is inserted, you must hear it engage in place.
- Make sure that there are sufficient coffee beans in the grinding container (8) and fill it if necessary (see "Adding Coffee Beans").
- Set the grinding fineness you want (see "Setting the Grinding Fineness").
- Turn the coffee quantity dial (2) clockwise to the quantity of coffee powder you want (can be seen on the coffee quantity display ⏚ - ⏚).
Note that with a coarse grinding fineness setting you will get more coffee powder than with a fine grinding fineness setting.
The grinder (I) starts the grinding process.
- Ⓢ 1 - 4 cups

Once the grinding process has finished, you will hear a beep and the grinder stops.
Notice: For technical reasons, a mechanical toothed wheel in the dial will continue to run for a short while. This is not a defect.
- Pull the collecting container forwards out of the motor unit.
The freshly ground coffee can now be processed further.

To obtain a successful result, you should keep a very close eye on the ratio of coffee powder to water. If the water content predominates, the coffee loses its taste. If in turn you use too much coffee powder, the coffee becomes too strong. We recommend that you start off with 15 g of coffee per 250 ml of water for a standard filter coffee. The dosing does of course vary just like tastes vary from person to person and from speciality coffee to speciality coffee, so you need to slowly get to know your own ideal ratio.
Cleaning and Storage
PLEASE NOTE
- Do not use any toxic, corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents or scouring sponges to clean the device. These may damage the surface.
- Tap out the collecting container (6) and its lid, the grinding container (8) and the lid (7) and clean everything with the cleaning brush that is supplied or wipe with a cloth. If they are very dirty, detergent and warm water can be used.
- All parts must be completely dry before they are reinserted and used or stored away.
- Wipe down the motor unit (3) with a damp cloth. If necessary, use a little detergent to remove more intense soiling.
- Check the connecting cable regularly for any damage.
- Store the device and all accessories in a dry, clean, frost-free place that is protected from direct sunlight and cannot be accessed by children or animals.
Cleaning the Grinder Shaft
I. Twist the grinding container (8) towards Grinding fineness 15 so that the scale mark on the grinding container extends a little beyond the mark on the motor unit (3) and pull the grinding container up at the same time.
2. Clean the grinder shaft (I) on the inside with the cleaning brush that is supplied.
3. Place the grinding container on the motor unit so that the scale mark on the grinding container and the mark on the motor unit overlap. Press down the grinding container and twist it clockwise. It now fits correctly on the motor unit again.
