3. Usage

The LED solar string light switches on automatically when it gets dark and switches off at dawn or when the rechargeable battery is drained. The solar module integrated at the top of the housing charges the built-in 1.2V Ni-MH 1200 mA rechargeable battery. The light chain is designed for permanent use in protected outdoor areas. The string lights can be flexibly switched on and off using the switch. In addition, the flashing mode can be selected.

Note: The solar light does not require a power source. However, since the light depends on sunlight, please note the following:

  • Make sure that the solar cells get sufficient light during the day. Place the solar panel in a sunny spot. Choose a spot where the panel is exposed to direct sunlight during the day for as long as possible.
  • Avoid an installation site that is entirely or predominantly in the shade.
  • In the dark, the light should not be constantly exposed to other light sources.
  • The solar module should always be kept free of snow during winter. Remember that reduced sunlight results in shorter lighting duration.

4. Initial use and installation

  1. Take the device out of the package and remove all the packaging material. Please remove the protective film from the solar panel before using it.
  2. Lay the LED string light out. Find a suitable spot with adequate sunlight.
  3. Now lay the string lights, for example, around a bush or shrub. Make sure that the lights are not immersed in water (e.g., garden pond).
  4. Press the switch at the back of the solar panel. The string light is switched on in the "ON" mode (continuous light). If you press the switch again, the "FLASH" mode (flashing light) is activated. The string lights will flash continuously. If you press the switch again, the string lights is switched off ("OFF" mode) and the battery is not charged.

1 Mode 1: ON for continuous light
2 Mode 2: FLASH for Bashing light
3 Mode 3: OFF for switched off state

  1. Insert the housing into the soil or a flower pot using the included ground spike.

5. Replacing the rechargeable battery (maintenance)

The capacity of the rechargeable battery decreases after a long period of use of about one to two years. It then has to be properly replaced. Only a replaceable battery of the same type may be used.

  1. Remove the four screws at the bottom of the light and separate the bottom part from the top part.
  2. Unlock the battery compartment carefully and open it. Remove the rechargeable battery from its bracket.
  3. Insert the new rechargeable battery with the correct polarity. Replace the housing in the reverse order.

Note: Used batteries have to be disposed of in an eco-friendly manner and should not be disposed along with household waste.

6. Trouble shooting

If the LED solar string light does not switch on once it gets dark, please check whether

  1. The switch is in the "ON" mode and not set to "OFF".
  2. The solar module is exposed to an external light source, such as a street lamp that simulates daylight, which prevents the string light from being switched on. Place the light in a darker spot.
  3. The polarity is reversed accidentally when replacing the battery.
  4. The rechargeable battery is defective or too weak.

7. Cleaning

Make sure that the solar unit is always clean and not dirty. Use only a soft cloth and never use any aggressive cleaning agents which could damage the surface.
