Before your first official use we recommend running your Kettle twice before using the final boiled water for consumption. These steps are a quick run through to get your appliance ready for use. PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCITONS BEFORE USE AS THE IMPORTANT DETAILS ARE IN THE 'USING YOUR KETTLE' PORTION BELOW.

  1. Pull the Power Cable out of the Storage Base.
  2. Pull out Foldable Handle and remove Lid.
  3. Check correct voltage is selected.
  4. Place on stable counter and check that the Power Button is on the (O) = OFF position and plug into the nearest outlet.
  5. Fill the Kettle with clean water to the MAX level mark in the interior of the appliance.
  6. Place Lid back on to the Kettle and flip Power Switch from O to I and wait until water comes to a boil.
  7. The Kettle will automatically shut off. Unplug the Kettle and wait 3 minutes before repeating.
  8. Once the 3 minutes have passed, discard the heated water, and repeat steps one more time.
  9. Your Kettle is now ready to be used.
  10. To reduce hardened mineral deposits, also known as scaling, ensure the Kettle is emptied and dried after each use.

Using Your Travel Kettle:

Attention: First use may cause a slight odor or small smoking upon heating, it is normal. This is a result of the heating element chemical reaction. It quickly goes away.

Important: Place the Kettle on a flat clean surface and make certain the Power Button is set to (O) before plugging into an outlet. Power On (I) / Power Off (O)

  1. Wash the kettle and lid using warm soapy water. Concealed heating element makes it easy for you to rinse and wash. Take care not to wet the power plug end. Check plug end and wipe with dry paper towel if wet.

  2. Pull Foldable Handle OUT during the entire operation. You will need to have your Foldable Handle in the OUT position to pour your hot water from the Kettle.

Brentwood KT-1506S - Using Your Travel Kettle: - 1

WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH ANY PART OTHER THAN THE PULLED-OUT HANDLE DURING OPERATION AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER. THE STAINLESS-STEEL KETTLE WILL BE VERY HOT AND CAN SCALD.

IMPORTANT

IF YOU DO NOT PULL THE FOLDABLE HANDLE OUT BEFORE POWERING UP THE KETTLE, YOU CAN STEADILY HOLD THE KETTLE IN PLACE BY HOLDING THE KETTLE DOWN BY THE KNOB ON THE LID. GENTLY AND SLOWLY PULL THE FOLDABLE HANDLE OUT. TAKE CARE NOT TO PULL ON THE HANDLE ROUGHTLY.

  1. Choose Voltage: 120v is the standard volts used in the United States. To select the correct voltage, you may need a small paper clip or small tweezers to change the voltage setting.

  2. Retractable Power Cord: Hold the Kettle by the Foldable Handle and pull out the Power Cord by the end. The first time might be difficult. You may need to pull out the Power Cord and twist it back into the Storage Base a few times for the cord to unstick itself and realign in the Base. Take care not to over pull. Gently pull out the Power Cable as far as you can, then use the Retractable Dial found under the Base to wind it back in. These steps will loosen up the Power Cord. This will become easier after the first or second use.

  3. Once the Power Cord is fully out of the Storage Base place the Stainless-Steel Kettle on a clean and level counter near an outlet. NOTE: The Kettle is specifically designed with a short Power Cord for safety reasons.

  4. Plug in your Kettle to the nearest electrical outlet. REMINDER: Pull the Foldable Handle out before starting the power.

  5. Grab the Foldable Handle with one hand and pull the Lid off the Kettle with the other.

  6. Place Lid on a clean paper towel.

  7. Fill the Kettle to the MAX level guideline with cool drinking bottled water, and place Lid back on the Kettle. NOTE: Do not over fill. Water should NOT exceed the MAX guideline found in the interior of the Kettle. NOTE: Never operate the Kettle without the Lid.

  8. Plug in your Kettle and press the Power switch to (I) for On.

  9. Power indicator Light will illuminate, letting you know the appliance is on.

  10. Once the water comes to a boil, the appliance will automatically shut off and the indicator light will go out.

Note: Do not attempt to operate this appliance when empty. It will shut itself off.

  1. Unplug your Kettle from the electrical outlet.

WARNING: ONCE THE KETTLE HAS REACHED THE BOILING POINT AND SHUTS OFF, DO NOT GRAB THE BODY OF THE KETTLE. THIS ITEM GETS EXTREMELY HOT AND CAN SCALD.

REMINDER: ALWAYS PULL OUT THE FOLDABLE HANDLE PRIOR TO POWERING UP THE KETTLE.

NOTE: IF THE COLLAPSABLE HANDLE IS NOT IN THE OUT POSITION, HOLD DOWN THE KETTLE BY THE KNOB OF THE LID AND GENTLY PULL THE HANDLE OUT. USE A STEADY HAND TO NOT TIP THE KETTLE OVER.

  1. With the Foldable Handle, raise your Kettle and pour out your hot water into your favorite mug, container, or bowl.

  2. TIP: To extend the life of your Kettle, allow it to cool for a minimum of 3 minutes before starting a second batch.
    • Always discard any unused water to reduce the level of limescale buildup.

  3. Enjoy!

Caution: Parts will be hot. Allow appliance to cool before handling the Kettle to clean and dry. Always dry before storing away in a cool and dry environment.

Cleaning Your Travel Kettle:

WARNING: Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool before cleaning or storing it.

  • Before cleaning always make sure the appliance is on (O). Unplug it from the outlet and allow it to cool down.
  • It is recommended to rinse parts immediately after use to make cleaning easier.
  • Discard any remaining water from the Kettle and rinse with warm water and wipe the outside thoroughly with a dry or damp cloth.
  • NEVER immerse the Kettle into water or wash in a dishwasher.
  • Avoid using abrasive and chemical cleaning agents (i.e., liquid bleach, hydrochloric acid, etc.) to clean any accessory parts of the appliance.
  • Store product in a cool, dry place, away from the reach of children.

Descaling Your Kettle:

WARNING: Always unplug the product before any cleaning. Dry all parts after every use. Descale your pot regularly to avoid tougher stains.

Descaling:

Descaling is the removal of mineral deposits from glass and stainless steel. All water contains minerals including purified and filtered water. After your first use, you may

see the first signs of deposits which may be white to reddish brown in color. These stains are not rust nor are they toxic.

Note: Do not reheat coffee or any other ingredient besides water in your Kettle, for this may discolor or stain the surface at the base.

To descale your pot, fill the pot full of water, add a small amount of white vinegar, and boil. Unplug the pot and allow the solution to sit for an hour. For darker stains leave overnight. This will remove most deposits that have been built up from normal use. Rinse out solution, add fresh water, and boil again. Allow to cool, follow with thorough cleaning, and dry before next use.
