Before First Use

IMPORTANT: Please check all packaging material carefully before discarding as there may be accessory parts contained within the packaging material.

Attention: First use may cause a slight odor or small smoking upon heating, it is normal. This is a result of the heating element chemical reaction. It quickly goes away.

  1. Wash the Carafe, Porta Filter, and Filter Basket with warm soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

Note: to avoid breaking your glass carafe, be sure to keep it away from any extreme cold temperatures especially just prior to use!

  1. Place parts together and run a brew cycle with water only. Do not add coffee.

Repeat 2-3 times to remove any dust or debris from manufacturing.

  1. When the brewing cycle is complete, turn your espresso maker off. Empty the water from the carafe once it has cooled, rinse the carafe, carafe lid, and filter basket.

How to Brew Espresso

Before setting up to brew, the 'Control Dial' should be set to the 'OFF' position. Do not plug your appliance in before setting up. Keep your espresso maker unplugged from the outlet when not in use. This step will prolong the life of your appliance.

  1. Always turn control dial to "OFF" position and check that it is NOT connected to the electrical outlet before filling with water. Never overflow water tank or use more than the recommended amount of water. Recommended amount of water is on the carafe.

  2. Use the Scoop & Tamp tool to scoop fresh, medium ground coffee into the Filter Basket. Fill to the '2' or '4' (2 servings or 4 servings) inside level markers in the 'Steel Mesh Filter'. Then use the 'Tamp' end of the Scoop & Tamp tool to gently level and tamp the coffee grounds in the 'Steel Mesh Filter'.

  3. Place the 'Steel Mesh Filter' into the 'Metal Funnel'. Make sure the 'Steel Mesh Filter', when placed in, fits flushed with the Funnel.

NOTE: the next step requires both hands on the appliance. Left hand will hold the appliance firmly, while the Right hand will turn the Press Bar firmly to the right.

  1. With the ‘Press Bar’ laying flush with the handle, insert the ‘Metal Funnel’ into the underside of the machine. Insert Funnel to the right of the unlock symbol. This might take a few tries. You will know when it is in the correct position when the funnel fits up into the machine. Once in, using both hands, place LEFT HAND on the ‘Top Lid’ while the RIGHT HAND will turn the ‘Press Bar’ firmly towards the right. Handle will sit directly aligned under the “LOCK” symbol.

  2. Fill the carafe with water to the '2' or '4' level markers*, matching the amount of coffee grounds used in the 'Steel Mesh Filter'. Remove cap from the top of the

machine and pour water from the carafe into the water tank. Replace the cap and turn right until seal is tight.

*NOTE: If steaming or frothing, you must add additional water to the tank at this time. Refer to 'How to Steam' Section below for details.

  1. Place the empty carafe on the drip tray, positioning the carafe's lid directly under the 'Metal Funnel' spout.
  2. Turn the control dial from the 'OFF' position to "Espresso Cup" icon (brew cycle) and wait 2 minutes, the machine will begin to brew.
  3. Once espresso has reached the desired serving level, slowly turn the control dial from the ‘Espresso Cup’ icon to the ‘PAUSE’ position.
  4. Espresso is now ready, and you may remove the Carafe and serve.
  5. Once the Carafe is away from the machine, you must release any remaining pressure by using a wet clean cloth and placing the cloth over the 'Steam Conduit' and slowly turn the control dial from 'PAUSE' to the 'STEAM' icon. Any additional steam will release into the towel. Make sure you keep your face and hands away from the 'Steam Conduit' when releasing and using this Steam feature.
  6. When all remaining steam has been released, turn the dial to 'OFF' and unplug from outlet. This appliance does not have a power switch.

WARNING: Do not leave the espresso maker unattended during use, as you need to manually operate it.

CAUTION: YOU MUST ALWAYS RELEASE THE REMAINING PRESSURE BEFORE YOU TURN THE MACHINE OFF.

CAUTION: machine, parts, and liquids are very hot during and after use.

  1. To avoid spillage or injury, DO NOT detach the 'Metal Funnel' while the machine is operating. Before removing the 'Metal Funnel', ALWAYS RELEASE the pressure from the water tank by moving the control dial to the "Steam" position. Keeping hands and face away from the machine, allow steam to escape until there is none left.

WARNING: YOU MUST ALWAYS RELEASE THE PRESSURE BEFORE SHUTTING APPLIANJCE DOWN.

  1. Turn the control dial to the "OFF" position and wait until the 'Metal Funnel' has cooled before removing.

  2. Once cooled, and carafe has been removed, you may now remove the 'Metal Funnel', by going clockwise from the Lock position to the Unlock position.

  3. Once you have removed the 'Metal Funnel' flip the 'Press Bar' up, so it holds the 'Metal Funnel' in place using your thumb. Turn the 'Metal Funnel' over to tap out grounds over a trash receptacle. Wash 'Metal Funnel' and Steel Mesh Filter in warm soapy water, dry, and reassemble for storage.

  4. Always release pressure and allow unit to cool for at least 5 minutes before storing or starting next brew cycle. Machine and parts are very hot during and after use.

  1. Fill the carafe with water to the 'STEAM' icon level marker and add water to the water tank.
  2. Following the 'How to Brew Espresso' instructions, pour '2' or '4' servings of water into the water tank, then immediately fill the carafe up to the 'Steam' icon level marker and add to the water tank.
  3. Follow the 'How to Brew Espresso' through step 7, espresso has brewed and reached the desired '2' or '4' level marker.
  4. Move the control dial from the 'Espresso Cup' icon to the 'Pause' position. Remove the carafe from the drip tray, away from the machine.
  5. Ensure the ‘Frothing Device’ is installed on the ‘Steam Conduit.’ Place a damp towel over the steam wand and briefly purge by slowly moving the control dial from ‘PAUSE’ to the ‘Steam’ icon, clearing any residue. Turn the dial back to ‘PAUSE.’
  6. Now you are ready for the next steps below.

Steam Milk – Creates Hot Milk for Lattes

a. Fill up to 2/3 cold milk in a stainless-steel frothing pitcher or similarly sized cup.
b. Position the frothing pitcher under the steam wand, submerging the tip deeper into the milk creating less bubbles.
c. Slowly turn the dial towards the "Steam" position to start steaming. Continue to steam milk until pitcher is almost too hot to handle.
d. Turn the dial to the off position before moving the wand outside of the milk.

Froth & Steam Milk – Creates Hot Milk with Foam for Cappuccino

a. Fill frothing pitcher or similarly sized cup with 1/3 cold milk.
b. Place the wand into the frothing pitcher, submerging it just below the milks surface. Slowly turn the dial towards the “Steam” position to start steaming.
c. Keep the wand just below the surface of the milk to create microbubbles, the frothy foam used for cappuccinos. Continue to steam until volume doubles.
d. Slowly lower the wand towards the bottom of the pitcher and keep until the froth and milk becomes silky smooth and the pitcher is almost too hot to handle. Turn the dial to the off position before moving the wand outside of the milk. Heavier steamed milk will settle at the bottom of the pitcher and will pour out before the froth. Left over froth is used as a top layer on drinks.

Instructions - Limescale Cleaning and Reduction

Limescale is inevitable as all water contains minerals, even filtered water.

NOTE: You may need more regular cleaning depending on the mineral content of the water you use.

Limescale Cleaning

Once a month clean the machine with distilled white vinegar.

  1. Allow the vinegar to sit overnight.
  2. Brew 2 cycles, allowing the vinegar to clear through both the drip and the steamer nozzles.

  3. Release steam in short bursts into a clean cool damp kitchen towel.

  4. Always keep hands and face away from the tip of the steamer nozzle.
  5. Brew 2 cycles of normal water to flush out any remaining vinegar.
  6. Continue to enjoy your espresso!

Reducing the impact of limescale

  • Never leave water in the reservoir outside of brewing and steaming.
  • Allow the reservoir to fully air dry prior to replacing the cap.
  • Maintain regular cleaning, usually with vinegar once a month.
