How to connect the RDMX Splitter 8 to a DMX controller?

Connect the DMX cable from the controller to one of the input ports (A or B) on the front of the device. Make sure the signal is present (the corresponding input indicator lights up). In 1x8 mode, the signal will be distributed to all outputs 1 to 8. In 2x4 mode, you can use both inputs separately.

What is the difference between 1x8 and 2x4 modes?

In 1x8 mode, the DMX signal received on input port A (or B) is sent to all 8 outputs. In 2x4 mode, input ports A and B are used separately: signal from A is sent to outputs 1-4, and signal from B to outputs 5-8. This allows managing two separate DMX universes with a single device.

Can I use this splitter with RDM devices?

Yes, the RDMX Splitter 8 supports the RDM (Remote Device Management) protocol. This allows configuring and monitoring compatible RDM devices remotely via the DMX cable, without manual intervention.

How to install the device in a 19-inch rack?

The RDMX Splitter 8 is designed for 19-inch rack mounting, with a height of 1U (45 mm). Use appropriate mounting screws (not included) to secure it firmly. When mounting overhead, always attach a safety cable to the back of the device to prevent falls.

What to do if the power indicator does not light up?

First check the power cord connection and that the wall outlet is live. If the indicator remains off, the internal fuse may be blown. Unplug the device, then replace the fuse with one of the same type and amperage (see manual for exact values). If the problem persists, contact Chauvet technical support.

Can I daisy chain multiple RDMX Splitter 8?

Yes, you can cascade multiple splitters by connecting the DMX output of one splitter to the input of another. Ensure you respect the maximum DMX cable length (typically 300 m) and use DMX terminators on the last unused output to avoid signal reflections.

What is the maximum power supported by the outputs?

The RDMX Splitter 8 does not provide power on the DMX outputs. It only transmits the data signal. Connected devices must have their own power supply. The indicated maximum output current (15 A) refers to the power throughput output, not the DMX ports.

How to replace the fuse?

First unplug the device from the power source. The fuse holder is usually located next to the power input connector. Open the fuse holder with a small screwdriver, remove the old fuse and insert a new fuse of the same type and amperage (see the manual or label on the device). Close the fuse holder then plug the device back in.

Is the device compatible with 120-ohm DMX cables?

Yes, the RDMX Splitter 8 is designed to work with standard DMX cables of 120 ohms impedance. Use professional quality cables (XLR 3 or 5 pin depending on your connectors) to ensure reliable transmission over long distances.

Signal output <1> to <8>	DMX Output ports 1 to 8. Indicator lights on each port will illuminate when a signal is being output through the port.

To use the RDMX Splitter 8 as a switch between 2 different input sources, plug the DMX Input lines into Signal Output Ports 5 to 8. Use the Mode button to switch between sources.
