34. Safety instructions for Li-ion batteries

- Do not open the battery. There is a risk of short circuit.

- If the battery is damaged or used improperly, fumes may be released. Provide fresh air and seek medical attention if you experience any discomfort. The fumes may irritate the respiratory tract.

Turn the device on/off

Insert the battery into the rail provided. Then press the safety button (Figure 1, point 6) on the side; only then can you operate the on/off switch (Figure 1, point 7). The device will now start. If you release the on/off switch, the device will stop working. Caution: The cutting tool may continue to run slightly.

36. Work instructions

- Hold the device firmly with both hands using the handles provided.

- The hedge trimmer can be moved forwards thanks to its double-sided cutting blades and backwards or with a pendulum movement from one side to the other.

- Trim the sides of the hedge first and then the top edge.

- Cut the hedge from bottom to top.

- Hold the hedge trimmer at an angle of 5-10° to the hedge to ensure a straight cut.

- Cut the hedge in a trapezoidal shape. This prevents the lower part of the hedge from discolouring due to a lack of light.

- Trim the upper edges of the hedge slightly round.

- Cut in several passes if heavy pruning is necessary.

- If necessary, stretch a guideline if you want to cut the hedge evenly.

- Trim the young hedge plants to the desired shape. The main shoot should not be damaged until the hedge has reached the desired height. All other shoots can be cut in half.

- Dispose of cuttings in a professional and environmentally friendly manner.

- Cutting times:

♦Deciduous hedges: June + October

♦Coniferous hedges: April and August

♦Fast-growing hedges (e.g. conifers): from May approximately every 6 weeks

- Caution: Watch out for nesting birds in the hedge. Only prune after the nesting or avoid this area of the hedge.

37. Maintenance and care

Attention: Before carrying out any work on the power tool, remove the battery from the device.

Do not use water or liquid cleaning agents.

- Clean the hedge trimmer after each use with a dry cloth or, if it is very dirty, with a brush.

- Never spray the hedge trimmer with water.

- Keep the contacts of the battery and the device clean and dust-free.

- Clean the cutting blade after each use. Remove dirt, leaf residue, etc.

- Spray the cutting blade with maintenance oil after use to ensure a long service life of the hedge trimmer. Use environmentally friendly products if possible.

- To oil the hedge trimmer, lay it on its side and apply a thin film of oil to the cutting blade.

38. Disposal instructions

WARNING!

Make used power tools unusable before disposal:

• mains-operated power tools by removing the connection plug,
  • battery-operated power tools by removing the battery.

According to European Directive 2012/19/EC on waste electrical and electronic equipment and its implementation in national law, used electrical equipment must be collected separately and recycled in an environmentally friendly manner. Raw materials are recovered instead of waste disposal. The device, accessories and packaging should be
