How to change the drill bit on the Alpha Tools SBM 650 E hammer drill?

To change the drill bit, ensure the device is unplugged. Open the quick-release drill chuck by turning the ring counterclockwise. Insert the new drill bit and tighten firmly by turning clockwise. Make sure to use sharp drill bits suitable for the material.

How to activate the hammer mode?

The hammer mode is activated using the switch (mark 4 in the manual). Turn it to the 'hammer drilling' position (hammer symbol). Only switch when the drill is completely stopped. For drilling into tiles or slabs, use the simple drilling mode (position 'drilling').

How to adjust the rotation speed?

The speed is adjusted progressively by pressing the trigger more or less. You can also preselect a maximum speed by turning the knurled screw located in the trigger. The speed range is from 0 to 2600 min⁻¹.

How to reverse the rotation direction?

The rotation direction is reversed using the reversing switch (mark 5). For screwing, set it to the forward position (arrow pointing right); for unscrewing, set it to the reverse position (arrow pointing left). Only switch when stopped.

What to do if the drill produces excessive sparks?

Excessive sparks may indicate worn carbon brushes. Check the brushes and replace them if necessary. Have this operation performed by a specialist. Also keep the ventilation slots clear to prevent overheating.

What safety precautions should be taken?

Always wear safety goggles and a dust mask when working in dusty conditions. Use the auxiliary handle for better stability. Do not drill near electrical cables without checking their absence. Unplug the drill before any adjustment or cleaning.

What type of drill bits to use with the SBM 650 E?

Use cylindrical shank drill bits with a diameter between 2 and 13 mm (chuck capacity). For concrete, use hammer drill bits; for steel, HSS bits; for wood, well-sharpened wood bits. Ensure the bits are compatible with the maximum speed of 2600 min⁻¹.

How to maintain the drill?

Keep the drill clean by wiping surfaces with a dry cloth. Do not use corrosive products. Keep ventilation slots clear. In case of sparks, check carbon brushes. Store the device in a dry place out of reach of children.

How to use the depth stop?

The depth stop is located on the auxiliary handle. Adjust the stop rod to the desired depth by loosening the knob, then sliding it. Tighten the knob to secure it. This allows drilling to a constant depth without damaging the material.

• When using a cable drum uncoil the cable completely. Cross-section of wire at least 1.5 mm ^2 .
• Do not overload machine.

  ● Make sure you have a secure stance on ladders or scaffolding when using the drill free-hand.
• Localise lines with a line detector in walls where power, water or gas lines are laid invisibly.
  ● Wear protection goggles and use a dust mask for dust-producing work.
  ● Always arrange for a qualified electrician to carry out repairs
  ● Use only original replacement parts

The speed is varied by applying more or less pressure on switch A. You can preselect the speed by turning the knurled screw in switch A.
