  3. Place the batteries into the battery compartment according to the "+" and "-" polarity symbols in the battery compartment.

  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and screws.

Remove used batteries promptly and always purchase correct size and grade.

  1. Replace the batteries when the scale displays " " or readings grow dim or become hard to read.

PRECAUTION: Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Batteries may explode or leak. Remove the batteries if the scale will not be used for a long period of time.

  1. Place the scale on a hard, level surface.
  2. Press "UNIT" button to turn the scale on. The display will turn on, show "30,50,60" when zero when it is ready for use.
  3. Your scale is set at the factory to weigh in pound/ounces. To switch between pounds/ounces (lb oz), grams (g), fluid ounces (fl.oz.) and milliliters (ml), press "○|UNIT" button.
  4. Place the item to be weighed on the center of the platform. The weight will display. As you add weight, the weight displayed increases.
  5. The scale will turn off automatically after approximately 3 minutes. Press and hold "○|UNIT" button to turn the scale off manually.

HOLD OPERATION

When the "HOLD" function is turned on, the LCD screen will continue to display the weight after the item is removed from the platform.

To turn on the Hold function:

  1. While the scale is on, place the item to be weighed on the platform.
  2. To lock in the weight of the item on the platform, press "HOLD" button and the "HOLD" icon appears on the display.

TARE OPERATION

You may wish to weigh ingredients in a bowl or other container (not included). In this case, you will need to tare, or offset, the weight of the bowl so that only the weight of the ingredients is displayed.

  1. Choose a container that will safely balance on the platform without tipping or falling. Do not use a heavy container, as this might reduce the maximum capacity of the scale.
  2. Press "UNIT" to turn the scale on. The scale will show "☐" and then zero.
  3. Place the empty container on the scale platform and the weight will display. Press the "TARE" button, the scale beeps and the weight of the container has been zeroed out.
  4. Add the ingredient to be weighed. The weight of the ingredient alone will display.
  5. The weight of additional ingredients may be tared out as well. For example, if a recipe calls for 12 lb rice and 12 lb beans, place the rice into the bowl. Once the correct amount of rice is weighed, press the "TARE" button, the scale beeps and resets to zero. Add the 12 lbs of beans. Both ingredients have been accurately weighed in the same bowl.
  6. When weights have been tared out, the display will show a negative number when the items are removed from the scale. To reset the scale back to zero for a new measurement, press the "TARE" button, the scale beeps and resets to zero.
  7. If a bowl or container is placed on the weighing platform that weighs more than 1 lb 1.5oz/500 grams/500 mL/17.5 fl oz. and "TARE" button is pressed, the TARE light will light up on the display.
