USER MANUAL 3812 Taylor

Thank you for purchasing a Taylor ^® digital kitchen scale. Your Taylor ^® scale is an example of superior design and crasmanship. Please read this instrucon manual carefully before use. Keep these instrucons handy for future reference.

Baery Informaon

This scale operates on 1 – 3 volt CR2032 lithium battery (installed). There is a strip under the lithium baery cover to prevent baery drain in shipping. Please remove the strip before connuing with these instrucons (you may need to remove the baery compartment cover to avoid breaking the strip). Also, some models have a stac cling label on the lens to prevent scratching. Please remove before use. Replace the baery when the Low Baery warning “LO” appears on the display, or the readings grow dim or irregular. To replace the baery:

1. Use one 3 volt CR2032 lithium baery.

2. Remove screw (or screws) from the battery compartment cover on the boom of the scale and remove the cover. Take care when removing and replacing the baery door screw. Do not turn the screw in the wrong direcon or over ghten it as this may strip the screw threads in the plasc baery door.

3. Remove the old baery from the compartment.

4. Place the new baery with the "+" sign up into the baery compartment.

5. Replace the baery compartment cover and screw(s).

NOTE: Please recycle or dispose of baeries per local regulaons.

WARNING: Baeries may pose a choking hazard. As with all small items, do not let children handle baeries. If swallowed, seek medical aenon immediately.

PRECAUTION: Do not dispose of baeries in re. Baeries may explode or leak. Remove the battery if the scale will not be used for a long period of me.

General Weighing Operaon

1. Place the scale on a hard, level surface.
2. Press the "☐" buon to turn the scale on. The display will turn on and show zero when it is ready for use. If the display does not show zero, press the "tare" buon. The scale will reset (tare) to zero.
3. Your scale weighs in ounces (oz), pounds/ounces (lb oz), grams (g) and kilograms (kg). Press the buon on the boom of the scale to change the units of measurement.
4. Place the item to be weighed on the center of the plaorm. The weight will display. As you add weight, the weight displayed increases.
5. The scale will turn o automatically within 3 minutes of non-use or if there is no change in weight. To turn the scale o manually, press and hold the “” duon until the scale turns o.

Tare Operaon

You may wish to weigh ingredients in a bowl or other container (not included). In this case, you will need to tare, or oset, the weight of the bowl so that only the weight of the ingredients is displayed.

1. Choose a container that will safely balance on the plaorm without pping or falling. Do not use a heavy container, as this might reduce the maximum capacity of the scale.
2. While the scale is 0, place the empty container on the scale plaorm. Turn the scale on. The display will turn on and then show zero. The weight of the container has been zeroed out.
3. Add the ingredient to be weighed. The weight of the ingredient alone will display.
4. The weight of additional ingredients may be tared out as well. For example, if a recipe calls for 12 lb rice and 12 lb beans, place the rice into the bowl. Once the correct amount of rice is weighed, press the "tare" buon to reset the display to zero. Add the 12 lb of beans. Both ingredients have been accurately weighed in the same bowl.
5. When weights have been tared out, the display will show a negave number when the items are removed from the scale. Press the "tare" buon to reset the scale back to zero for a new measurement.

Precauons

1. Clean exposed parts with a so, slightly damp cloth. To remove stains, use a mild soap. Never use detergents, excess water, treated cloths, harsh cleaning agents, or sprays. Avoid contact with acids, such as citrus juices. DO NOT immerse the electronic scale in water or wash in a dishwasher.
2. Do not tamper with the scale's internal components. Doing so will invalidate the warranty on this unit and may cause damage. The scale contains no user-serviceable parts.
3. Although your scale is designed to be maintenance-free, it contains sensitive electronic parts. Avoid rough treatment. Treat it with care to ensure the best performance.
4. This scale is intended for home/consumer use only. It is not intended for commercial or medical use.
5. This scale is designed to read weights up to 11 lb x 0.1 oz / 176 oz x 0.1 oz / 5000 g x 1 g / 5 kg x 0.001 kg. To prevent damage, do not place more than 11 lb / 176 oz / 5000 g / 5 kg on it.
6. Do not store scale where you store cleaning chemicals. The vapors from some household products may act the electronic components of your scale. Do not store scale on its side.
7. This scale is an extremely sensitive weighing device. In order to prevent run down of the baery, do not store anything on the scale.
8. Do not dispose of baeries in re. Baeries may explode or leak. Remove the baery if the scale will not be used for a long period of me.
9. "UnSt" = Unstable Warning. Should "UnSt" appear on the display, this indicates the scale is unstable. Place the scale on a hard, level surface during use.
10. "O-Ld" = Overload Warning: Should "O-Ld" (overload) appear on the display during a weighing, this indicates that the maximum weighing capacity has been exceeded. Remove the weight immediately; otherwise, permanent damage could occur.

One (1) Year Limited Warranty

Taylor ^® warrants this product to be free from defects in material or workmanship (excluding baeries) for one (1) year for the original purchaser from date of retail purchase. It does not cover damages or wear resulting from accident, misuse, abuse, commercial use, or unauthorized adjustment and/or repair. If service is required, do not return to retailer. Should this product require service (or replacement at our opon), please pack the item carefully and return it prepaid, along with store receipt showing the date of purchase and a note explaining reason for return to:
