General notes on use The cooler is not suitable for continuous operation. Ice can form on the aluminum radiator. We recommend switching off the cooler after a maximum of 6 days of operation. You can switch the cooler on again after 2 hours. Dry the surfaces of your refrigerated goods to avoid condensation. When the cooler is not in use, store the connection cables in the compartment provided for this purpose in the lid of the cooler. When operating the cooler from a 12/24Volt power source in a car or lorry, make sure that the supply of power to the cooler is not constantly interrupted when the engine is switched on and off frequently and that the 12/24 Volt plug is connected tight to the socket and loosened by vehicle vibration. Also note that the car battery may become drained when the engine is not running. To prevent the goods to be cooled from freezing, the cooler should not be operated at the maximum cooling setting when the ambient temperature is below 18°C. If you do not need to use the cooler for a longer period of time, then please remove all objects from the cooler. Disconnect the cooler from the power supply and store the connection cable in the in the compartment provided for this purpose in the lid of the cooler. Note on the use of Li-Ion Power X-CHANGE batteries: The lifespan of a battery is about 3 to 5 years and also depends on the number ofcharging cycles. When the Power Exchange batteries are used properly, over 500 charging cycles are possible during this time without any problems. However, this does not mean that the power battery will not function anymore after 3 to 5 years have passed or the stated number of charging cycles has been exceeded, but is does mean that a reduction of the nominal capacity to between 60% and 80% can be expected due to technical reasons. This aging process is common to all Li-ion batteries and is therefore not necessarily perceived negatively by the user as it is comparable to the well-known capacity of mobile phone batteries. Operation For hygienic reasons, we recommend that you wash the inside and outside of the cooler with a damp cloth before using it (see also the section “Cleaning and care”). Do not store any unwrapped food in the cooler. Place the cooler on a firm and level surface. The lid can be locked in the open position using the handle (1) and the lock(2). The connection cables for the desired power sources: AC 230 V (household power socket) (3) DC 12 V/24 cigarette lighter in a vehicle (4) DC 12 V connection cable to contact holder for 18 Volt Power X-Change Battery (5) are firmly connected to the cooler in the cable compartment located on the back of the lid.GB I
Function of the cooler when operating at AC 230 volts or DC 12/24 or at 18 Volt Power X-Change battery: When operating the electric cooler with 230 volts or with 12 volts, the cooling output (if the cool box is equipped with a heating function, also the heat output) can be controlled using the power controller (6) on the top of the electro box. The scale on the power controller (6) provides information about the performance characteristics of the cool box, separated according to the power source used, AC 230 Volts and DC 12/24/18 colts. AC 230 Volt power source: Power control infinitely variable from zzZ / ECO / to MAX DC 12/24/18 Volt power source: Power control in 4 levels: 1A / 2A / 3A/ MAX A Is your cooler equipped with a warming mode in addition to the cooling mode, then select the desired “Cold” or “Hot” mode using the slide switch (7).Two LEDs indicate the selected mode. Performance Regulation with AC 230 Volt or 12/24 Volt socket in a vehicle In AC 230 volt operation, the electric cooler works during cooling in “normal operation” ( put the power regulator in the AC position: ”ECO” (small marking on the lid points towards “ECO”) with a maximum of energy saving and achieves an inside temperature of approx. 17°C at an outside temperature of 25°C; this corresponds to a Delta T of approx. 8°C (Delta T = difference between the temperature inside the box and the ambient temperature). In case you want to have a lower/cooler temperature inside the cooler, you will have to leave the “normal” function and you can turn the power controller (6) stepless toward MAX A. Please note that in this case you will use more energy than in normal operation. The maximum achievable Delta t of the cool box model Z 26 LNE is approx. 17°C and 19°C for the cool box model Z 26 LNP. In the event that the cool box is equipped with a heating function and you have selected the heat function (slide switch (7) in position “HOT”), the interior of the box will be heated to approx. 60°C; turning the power regulator (6) in direction to “OFF”, the heat output will be reduced. Turn the control dial (6) to the "zzZ" position (sleep mode), the cooler cools almost silently (noise< 27dB) with the lowest possible energy consumption. This setting is intended to ensure that you can operate your electric box in a caravan, mobile home, or hotel room near your sleeping place without being disturbed. With this setting a Delta t of approx. 8°C and at an outside temperature at night of i.e. approx. 17°C your food and drinks are kept cold at approx. 9°C without any noise disturbing fan noise. When connecting the cool box to a DC12/24V power source, you regulate the power of the cool box in accordance with the aforementioned design also with the power regulator (6), but taking into account the 4 stages on the controller mentioned for DC operation. Function of the cooler when operation with a DC 18 Volt Power X-Change battery The use of the cool box with the Power X-Change battery serves to extend the cold chain of the food and drinks that have been placed in the cool box which (which before already been well pre-cooled) afterGB I
disconnecting the cooler from the 230 volt mains or 12/24 Volt power supply from the car. Therefor only put sufficient and well pre-chilled food and drinks into the cooler. The power X-CHANGE batteries are not suitable for cooling down warm products as this requires too much energy. To see how many hours the cooling function can be maintained by using the different Power X-CHANGE Batteries available taking into account the various Cooling Power settings see table (A.) Please note that the use of Power X-CHANGE batteries are sufficient to keep and well pre-chilled food and drinks cool and that the battery is not suitable for cooling down warm food, as this requires too much energy. For optimal cooling (or heating) we recommend to use Power X-Change batteries with a capacity of at least 4,0 Ah. If you have already different Power X-Change batteries available with a capacity less then 4,0 Ah, then the use of those batteries will not reduce the cooling capacity and only reduce the cooling time. (see table A). In this case it is advisable to use several charged batteries one after another, or alternatively to reduce with regulator (6) the cooling power in order to extend the cooling time. Fastening the 18 Volt Power X-CHANGE battery to the cooler On the side of the cooler box there is a holding device for connecting all 18 Volt Power X-CHANGE batteries from EINHELL, regardless of their different Ah Power. (Currently batteries available with the strength of 2,0 Ah / 4,0 Ah/ 5.2 Ah/ 4,0-6,0Ah/ 8 Ah. Now connect the 18 Volt connection cable (5) of the lid of the cool box to the holding device for the Power X_CHANGE battery. You will find the socked for the plug on the underside of the holding device. The plug has a flat shape on one side and a rounded shape on the other side. Make sure that the plug is inserted fitting into the identical shaped socket (one side flat/other side rounded) and is firmly seated there. Carefully slide now the Power Exchange battery from above in to the holder (13) and use the “click lock” on the battery. Doing so the battery will find a secure position at the side of the cooler. IMPORTANT: When separating again the battery from the holder device, please unlock the “click lock” of the battery again accordingly – do not use force – there is risk of damage. Now start the cooling (or heating in case your cooler has a heating function) by using the power controller (6) on the cover of the cooler, taking into account the DC scale of the controller. Tips for the best cooling performance and energy savings Choose a well ventilated location that is protected from sunlight. Only place pre-cooled foods and beverages in the electric cooler. Do not open the cooler any longer than necessary. Do not leave the lid open for longer than necessary. Make sure that the cooler is not too full and that the air can circulate adequately between the items to be cooled. To achieve maximum energy savings for longer periods of use, we recommend using the normal 230 V operating mode (cooling control dial (6) set to the “ECO” position).GB I
Replacing the 12 Volt fuse in the 12 Volt plug To replace the fuse (21), first unscrew the red compensating sleeve (18) from the plug. Unscrew the screw (16) from the upper half of the housing (17) using a suitable Phillips screwdriver. Lift the upper half of the housing off the lower half (20). Note: Hold the contact spring (19) in place while removing the fuse. Otherwise the contact spring may fly out. Carefully lift the contact pin (22) out of the housing. The fuse can now be removed. Note: If the thin metal wire in the middle between the two metal caps is broken, thenthe fuse is defective and must be replaced. Push the contact spring (19) back and gently insert the new fuse into the groove provided. Now place the rear edge of the contact pin on the metal cap on the front of the fuse. Releasing the contact spring secures the fuse and contact pin in the groove. Screw the upper and lower halves of the housing back together and then place the red compensating sleeve (18) back on and screw it tight. The plug is now ready for operation again. Cleaning and care Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents for cleaning. Otherwise there is a risk of property damage. Always disconnect the connection cable from the power socket, cigarette lighter, or power battery before cleaning. Otherwise there is a risk of electric shock. Never clean the cooler under running water. This can cause damage to the electrical system. Before cleaning, remove the electrical compartment lid by carefully pulling it out at a slight angle through the right rear recess (1A) of the lid hinge and to the right out of the left rear recess (1B) of the lid hinge. Remove the battery as well from the holder on the side by pulling it upwards carefully. Use a dry cloth to clean the electrical compartment lid and the power battery. To clean the bottom section of the electrical compartment, use a damp cloth and a mild soap solution and then rinse it out with clean water.
