8.1 HDMI (ARC) CONNECTION

HDMI (ARC) ARC stands for "Audio Return Channel" and means that audio signals can be transmit- ted in both directions. A device equipped with HDMI (ARC) can both receive and trans- mit audio signals. HDMI (CEC) CEC stands for "Consumer Electronics Control". If two or more CEC devices are connect- ed to one another, then at least the basic functions such as switching on and off can be operated via a remote control. Example: the TV sound stand is connected via a CEC-compatible HDMI cable to a CEC- enabled TV set. If the TV is now switched on with the TV remote control, the TV sound stand will also switch on. (However, the TV must send and receive a signal. If, for exam- ple, the TV is receiving the TV signal via a Set Top Box, this must also be switched on.) In order to be able to use the ARC function, external devices which are connected to the TV sound stand must also have an ARC-capable HDMI interface. In combination with an HDMI ARC-capable TV, the sound can be sent to the TV sound stand without an additional audio cable. HDMI (ARC)

... whether the external device has an HDMI ARC input. ... whether the ARC function can be used permanently on all HDMI connections on the external device or if the ARC function must be switched on first. Please refer to the manual of the external device.

The volume can be adjusted via the TV sound stand. NOTE: it may be better to switch off the volume on the external device and listen to the sound only via the TV sound stand.

5. Switch off both devices before disconnecting.

The AUX socket allows you, for example, to connect the headphones or stereo output of your TV. The cable must have a 3.5mm jack plug at one end for the AUX socket. Which plug needs to be on the other end depends on the audio output port of the ex- ternal device. (A 3.5 mm jack plug to 3.5 mm jack plug audio cable is included.)

The volume can be adjusted via the external device and the TV sound stand. NOTES: - It may be better to switch off the volume on the external device and listen to the sound only via the TV sound stand. - Some television sets switch off all sound outputs when a plug is inserted into the headphone socket.

5. Switch off both devices before disconnecting.

NOTE: if the playback is distorted, this may be because the volume level on the exter- nal device is set too high. Turn down the volume on the external device, and instead increase the volume on the TV sound stand.

Inserting/changing the battery of the remote control DANGER! There is a danger of explosion if the battery is not correctly replaced. Replace only with the same or an equivalent type. NOTE: the remote control is supplied with an inserted battery. Pull the plastic strip out of the remote control before using it for the first time. A Phillips screwdriver is required for this.

1. Release the small screw on the underside of the

remote control with a Phillips screwdriver.

2. Pull out the battery compartment.

3. Insert the battery (CR2025 3V) or replace the old

battery with a new one. The positive pole (+) of the battery must point upwards.
