Frequently Asked Questions - L700 BROAN

Can the fan be installed in a bathroom?
Yes, provided it is installed above a bathtub or shower with a circuit protected by a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter). Never place the switch within reach of the bathtub or shower.
What type of duct should I use?
Use a metal duct round 10 in (25.4 cm). The fan accepts a transition 4½ x 18½ to 10 in. Discharge can be horizontal or vertical.
How to clean the fan?
For the grille: use a vacuum or remove it and clean with a soft cloth and mild soap. For the blower: disconnect power, remove grille, disconnect blower, clean the wheel without letting water enter the motor. Reassemble after complete drying.
Can I use a speed controller?
Yes, the fan is compatible with a solid-state speed controller. Follow the wiring instructions of the controller and comply with local electrical codes.
What to do if the fan is noisy?
Ensure the unit is free of construction dust and that the motor bearings are not damaged. If noise persists, check that the blower wheel is well balanced and that fasteners are tight.
How to install the fan in an existing ceiling?
Use the provided brackets by attaching them on either side of the housing, flipped if necessary so that the housing is flush with the finished ceiling. Refer to the mounting diagrams for already completed construction.
What is the procedure to replace the motor?
The motor is integrated into the blower. Replace the blower assembly (ref. 97014821 for L700) by unscrewing the mounting nuts and reconnecting the harness. The motor is not individually repairable.
Where can I find replacement parts?
Order parts by reference number from Broan-NuTone. The full list is on page 12 of the manual. Examples: grille (98009463), blower wheel (9911 10805), motor (9080488).
Can the fan be used in a kitchen?
No, this model is not designed for a cooking area. It must not be installed above or inside a cooking zone. It is intended for general ventilation.
What to do in case of failure during warranty?
Contact Broan-NuTone within 7 days of discovering the defect, with the model number and proof of purchase. The one-year warranty covers parts and labor for a defect in material or workmanship.
