Frequently Asked Questions - BCD86 Merax

What to do if my Merax BCD86 refrigerator does not cool?
First check that the plug is properly connected and the fuse is not blown. Ensure the thermostat is not set to 0 (off) and is positioned between 3 and 5 for normal use. Keep the appliance away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Leave at least 300 mm of space above and on the sides for proper air circulation.
How to adjust the temperature of my refrigerator?
The thermostat is adjusted from 1 to 7 clockwise. The higher the number, the lower the temperature. For general use, set to 5. Position 0 completely stops the compressor. For fast freezing, use position 7, but the refrigerator compartment may frost.
Why is there noise coming from the refrigerator?
A slight noise is normal, often from the compressor. Check that the refrigerator is level by adjusting the front feet. Make sure it is not too close to the wall and that no objects touch the back. A water flowing noise is normal (refrigerant circulation).
How to clean my Merax BCD86 refrigerator?
Unplug the appliance. Clean the interior with a solution of baking soda (2 tablespoons per 1 liter of warm water) or mild detergent. Rinse and dry. The shelves are removable. Clean the door gasket with soapy water. For the compressor, use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner to remove dust.
How to make ice cubes?
Fill the ice tray to 80% capacity, place it in the freezer compartment. For fast freezing, set the thermostat to 7. To remove ice cubes, hold both ends of the tray and twist gently. Do not bend the tray to avoid cracking.
Why are foods frozen in the refrigerator?
This can happen if the thermostat is set too high (position 7) or if the ambient temperature is too low. Reduce the setting. Avoid placing very moist or juicy foods in the refrigerator, as they freeze more easily. Make sure the door is not left open for too long.
How to defrost the freezer?
Empty the freezer, set the thermostat to 0 to stop the compressor. Let the frost melt naturally or use a defroster following the instructions. Remove frost with a soft cloth. Do not use sharp objects to avoid damaging the refrigeration circuit.
What to do in case of unpleasant odor inside?
Food should be sealed in airtight containers or plastic wrap to prevent odor mixing. Clean the interior with baking soda. A plastic smell is normal during first use; it disappears after a few days.
Can I freeze fresh food?
Yes, you can freeze fresh food in the freezer compartment. For fast freezing, set the thermostat to 7. Make sure the food is tightly wrapped.
How to properly install the refrigerator?
Place the refrigerator on a solid and level floor. Avoid direct sunlight, heaters, and moisture sources. Leave at least 300 mm of space above. Use the adjustable front feet to level it. Plug into a grounded outlet. Wait 24 hours before operating to stabilize the refrigerant.
