TUNING MACHINE TENSION ADJUSTMENT

The adjustment knobs feature spring-loaded mechanisms that automatically absorb wear, preventing backlash. However, it is possible to adjust the amount of pressure required to turn the machines. Each mechanism is equipped with a tension adjustment screw, as shown.

Turning the screw clockwise tightens the mechanism. The adjusting knobs should be adjusted so that they are firm but turn smoothly. This adjustment is not normally necessary, and over-tightening may cause premature wear of the adjustment knobs.
