2.1 Safety instructions

2.1.1 General safety

Improper installation of the gas pressure regulator without the requi- site expert knowledge and experience may lead to dangerous leaks or malfunctions

Installation of the gas pressure regulator may only be performed by a qualified expertDuoControl CS Safety 37EN 50020-00980 ∙ 00 ∙ 08/2022 Improper use of the gas pressure regulator may lead to damage to property and personal injury

Only start and use the gas pressure regulator when it is in a tech- nically perfect and safe-to-operate state

Read the operating instructions for the gas pressure regulator in full beforehand

Observe locally applicable laws, directives and standards relating to using and operating the gas pressure regulator

Avoid using external undue force on the gas pressure regulator, since this may lead to malfunctions

2.1.2 Component installation and connection

Component connections may be leaky if they are incorrectly installed, damaged or dirty

Use high-pressure hoses under all circumstances for high-pres- sure connections between the gas cylinder and the gas pressure regulator or gas filter

When connecting the high-pressure hoses, ensure that the seals at the respective hose outlets are present and undamaged

Securely fasten all parts to stable structures to prevent damage due to vehicle vibrations while driving

Replace gas hoses immediately if they have been completely or partially damaged or were changed in any way

Keep connections free from dirt

2.1.3 Handling liquid gas

The use of upright gas cylinders from which gas is extracted in the gas phase is mandatory when operating the gas pressure regulator If a gas cylinder is on its side, liquid can penetrate low-pressure parts, damage sensitive parts and lead to dangerous gas leaks Gas cylin- ders from which gas is taken in the liquid phase (eg for fork lifts) must not be used, since they would result in damage to the gas systemDuoControl CSSafety 38 EN 50020-00980 ∙ 00 ∙ 08/2022

Only use gas cylinders in an upright position

Do not use gas cylinders that provide gas from the liquid phase

Gas cylinders that are not connected to the gas system must be closed at all times and provided with protection caps

Connected gas cylinders are considered to be operating materials and not hazardous materials (ADR exemption in accordance with sections 1131 and 1132 e) The use of gas cylinders that are more than 80% full may lead to the liquid phase penetrating low-pressure parts, damaging sensitive parts and causing dangerous gas to leak

Do not fill gas cylinders more than 80% Liquid gas is heavier than air If there is a leak, a flammable gas mix- ture may be created near the ground

Ensure that the gas locker has sucient ground ventilation so that the gas can escape at all times If you can smell gas or there are leaks in the gas system:

Do not switch on electrical appliances or other ignition sources

Close the cylinder valve

Have an expert check and repair the gas system immediately

Do not open the cylinder valve anymore in the meantime

2.1.4 Safe operation

The gas pressure regulator must not be installed any lower than the cylinder valve to prevent gas in the liquid phase from penetrating low-pressure parts, damaging sensitive parts and causing dangerous gas leaks The gas pressure regulator contains a pressure relief valve (PRV), which is used to relieve temporary overpressure in the gas system This means that gas escapes in a controlled mannerDuoControl CS Safety 39EN 50020-00980 ∙ 00 ∙ 08/2022

To prevent dangerous gas from accumulating, the gas pressure regulator must be installed in a well-ventilated space Ventila- tion must be guaranteed at all times Do not close ventilation openings

Close the gas cylinder if the vehicle is parked in a garage

Close the gas cylinder during transport on ferries, etc Chemical residues that may be contained in inferior liquid gas may damage the product, shorten its lifespan and even lead to leaks

A gas filter must be installed upstream of the gas pressure regu- lator inlet to provide reliable protection against dirt or oil contami- nation Gas pressure regulators, automatic switchover equipment and high- and low-pressure hoses must be replaced no later than 10 years after the date of their manufacture in order to guarantee fault-free func- tioning of the gas system under normal operating conditions Earlier replacement may be required if this is prescribed by national regu- lations Truma accepts no responsibility for malfunctions, damage, injury or accidents resulting from operating gas pressure regulators, automatic switchover equipment and high- and low-pressure hoses that are more than 10 years old

Replace gas pressure regulators and high- or low-pressure hoses in good time according to applicable regulations The user is responsible for this

Observe national regulations When changing a gas cylinder, a gas hose or a filter pad, flammable gas may escape:

2.1.5 Operating the gas system while driving

For heating while driving, Regulation (EC) 661/2009 and the binding UN/ECE regulation R 122 stipulate safety shut-o devices for motor homes and caravans that ensure that the gas supply is shut o in the event of an accident This gas pressure regulator meets this require- ment Installing a safety shut-o device with an appropriately configured gas installation means that a type-tested liquid gas heater may be operated while driving throughout Europe in line with the aforemen- tioned regulation

National provisions and regulations for operating gas systems while driving must be observed For vehicles manufactured before 01/2007 there are no restrictions for operating the gas system while driving*

  • Except for France: In France, operation of a gas system while driving is only permitted in type-tested vehicles with first registration as of January 1, 2007 In older vehicles the operation of the gas system while driving is also non-permissible in combination with a safety shut-o device Take additional safety measures if heating or another gas appliance needs to be used while driving:

Follow the appliance manufacturer’s instructions before operating a gas appliance while driving

Use high-pressure hoses with hose rupture protection (HRP) for connecting the gas cylinders to the gas pressure regulators or gas filters

This product is only suitable for the specified intended use Any other use, or use that extends beyond this, will be deemed improper and will result in warranty claims lapsing and precludes any liability claimsDuoControl CS Safety 41EN 50020-00980 ∙ 00 ∙ 08/2022 The DuoControl CS gas pressure regulator is a safety gas pressure regulator according to EN16129 for operation with liquid gas in the gas phase The gas pressure regulator is approved exclusively for use and opera- tion in caravans of vehicle class O and motor homes of vehicle class M1 if the gas system was installed in accordance with EN1949 The gas pressure regulator has a safety shut-o device (crash sensor) that prevents liquid gas from escaping in an uncontrolled manner in an accident according to UN/ECE regulation 122 Gas appliances may therefore be operated in the vehicle while driving The gas pressure regulator may only be operated

in a protected environment that is not exposed to moisture, sunlight or dust,

if it was installed in accordance with the installation instructions,

if it was checked by a liquid gas expert,

taking into consideration national provisions and regulations on operating and testing gas installations (eg DVGW Work Sheet G607 in Germany),

Closed spaces (eg households) The gas pressure regulator may not be used for commercial purposes Any technical changes to the gas pressure regulator are prohibited 3 Product description

The pressure in a filled gas cylinder is up to 16bar The gas applian- ces in the vehicle are designed for an operating pressure of 30mbar The gas pressure regulator is situated between the gas cylinder and the gas appliances and reduces the gas cylinder’s pressure to the gas system’s operating pressure The connection between the gas cylinders and the gas pressure regulator is established using flexible high-pressure hoses The high-pressure hoses are fitted with hose rupture protection as an option Optional gas filters clean the gas and therefore protect the gas system from contaminants

3.2 Gas pressure regulator

The DuoControlCS gas pressure regulator is a safety gas pressure regulator according to EN16129 for operation with liquid gas in the gas phase A crash sensor is integrated in the gas pressure regulator The gas pressure regulator has automatic switchover equipment at the inlet to the connection to two gas cylinders The gas pressure regulator is available with a horizontal design in the DuoControlCSvariant and with a vertical design in the DuoControlCSvariantDuoControl CSProduct description 44 EN 50020-00980 ∙ 00 ∙ 08/2022

The gas pressure regulator is fitted with an automatic safety device (PRV)

If the gas pressure regulator is not working properly, for example due to dirt or other foreign mateiral, the safety valve opens and releases the overpressure The connected consumers are thus protected from an impermissibly high pressure The PRV closes auto- matically after the pressure is reduced

In a two-cylinder gas system, the switchover system ensures automa- tic switchover between the gas cylinders As soon as the operating cylinder is empty (<0,5bar), the switchover system switches to the reserve cylinder Switchover is indicated by means of red or green windows (Fig 3-1) Both windows relate to the operating cylinder

Green display: the operating cylinder is full

Red display: the operating cylinder is empty The white lug (Fig 3-2) points to the operating cylinder

The gas pressure regulator has an integrated safety shut-o device (crash sensor) according to UN/ECE regulation 122 The installed crash sensor stops the gas supply immediately when an accident oc- curs It triggers at a directly acting acceleration of 40

This corresponds to an impact speed of approx 15 to 20 km/h If the yellow reset button is pressed in (Fig 4-1), the crash sensor is active The gas pressure regulator is ready for operation This means that the gas system is supplied with gas If the yellow reset button is protruding (Fig 4-2), the crash sensor was triggered The gas pressure regulator is not ready for operation This means that the gas system is not supplied with gas

Unusually strong vibrations while driving may lead to the crash sensor triggering inadvertently In this situation, the flow of gas is interrupted To reset the crash sensor, see chapter „Resetting the reset button“

The screw aid guarantees the required tightening torque Damage to the union or the seal is therefore prevented

Use the included screw aid to attach and remove the high-pres- sure hoseDuoControl CSProduct description 46 EN 50020-00980 ∙ 00 ∙ 08/2022

Chemical residues that may be contained in inferior liquid gas may damage the gas pressure regulator, shorten its lifespan or even lead to leaks Truma advises using the gas filter to minimise this risk (see wwwtrumacom)

3.8 Type plate and serial number

The technical data is printed on the cap of the gas pressure regulator (Fig 6-1) The serial number is printed on the housing in plain text (Fig 6-2) and as a QR code (Fig 6-3)

A yellow sticker with information about operating pressure and safe use is axed to the gas pressure regulator The sticker must be a- xed in a location close to the gas pressure regulator (eg in the gas locker) where it is clearly visible to all users Missing stickers can be requested from Truma Fig 8 4 Operation
