Warranty

1. COBB PREMIER+ GAS 2 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

If inspection confirms that it is defective in material or workmanship, Cobb International (PTY) Ltd will provide free replacement of parts or exchange a new Cobb Premier+ Gas. Transport and handling will be for the users account.

This warranty is void if:

• The Cobb Premier+ Gas is explicitly or implicitly modified, tampered with, altered or repaired in any way by persons other than authorised representatives of Cobb International (PTY) Ltd.
  • The Cobb Premier+ Gas has been damaged through misuse, negligence, accident or natural calamities.
  • The Cobb Premier+ Gas has not been cleaned after each use.

For services under this warranty contact your local Cobb Premier+ Gas dealer, describing the problem including your proof of purchase.

Transit protection

Remove any and all cardboard, paper, plastic and/or polystyrene packaging prior to using the appliance.

Note: Do not remove the black silicone grommets (Component "E" on diagram above) as they are an intrinsic part of the Cobb and not packaging material. Always ensure that all grommets are free of any damage and fitted before, during and after cooking.

Fitting the gas cylinder onto the Cobb Premier+ Gas (Model PGA005 and PGA006)

The hose line forms the connection between the liquid gas bottle and the gas barbecue. Only use a tested and CE-certified hose line which shall not be longer than 1.5m. Before each use, check whether the hose line has any cracks or is worn. Make sure that the hose line does not have any kinks and that it does not touch any hot surfaces. Only use the hose line supplied with your gas barbecue. If necessary, replace the hose in order to comply with the corresponding national requirements.

• Use outdoors only.
• Change the gas container outside and away from people.
• If there is a leak on your appliance(smell of gas),take it outside immediately into a well ventilated flame free location, away from people, where the leak may be detected and stopped.
• If you wish to check for leaks on your appliance, do it outside. Do not try to detect leaks using a flame, use soapy water.
• Check the seals before connecting a new gas container to the appliance.
• If you detect a smell of gas, turn off the gas supply immediately and ensure the regulator knob is turned to the off position. Unscrew the gas cylinder before to reconnecting. Be certain the cylinder's threads are not cross threaded and ensure that the regulator O-ring and seals are in place and not damaged.
• Do not use an open flame to check for leaks.

Regulator Fitment

A. Connecting the pressure regulator complying to EN16129 with a left-hand thread. Screw the pressure regulator to the liquid gas cylinder connection. To do this, turn the pressure regulator coupling nut anti-clockwise. Turn the valve (a) on the liquid gas cylinder anti-clockwise so that the gas flows out and you can start up the barbecue.
B. Connecting the pressure regulator with a lever complying to EN16129. Turn the pressure regulator lever (b) clockwise to the OFF position. Press the pressure regulator onto the liquid gas cylinder valve until the pressure regulator obviously engages. Turn the lever anti-clockwise to ON so that the gas flows out and you can start up the barbecue.
C. Connecting the pressure regulator with a collar complying to EN16129. Make sure that the pressure regulator lever (b) is in the OFF position. Slide up the collar on the pressure regulator and maintain the pressure. Press the pressure regulator onto the gas cylinder valve and slide down the collar to close it. If the pressure regulator does not engage, repeat the procedure.

Important: Read these instructions for use carefully so as to familiarize yourself with the appliance before connecting it to its gas cylinder. Keep these instructions for future reference.

Your Cobb Premier+ Gas is a portable outdoor cooking appliance. With the Cobb Premier+ Gas you can grill, fry, roast and bake. You can cook anything, anywhere, anytime.

- Improper assembly can be dangerous and could cause injury.

• Not for use by children.

The Cobb Premier+ Gas complies with GAS APPLIANCE REGULATION (GAR) 2016/426 and follows standard EN 498:2012 (E) for Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG).

The Cobb Premier+ Gas complies with GAS APPLIANCE REGULATION (GAR) 2016/426 and follows harmonized standard EN 498:2012 (E) for Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG). IT MAY BE HAZARDOUS TO ATTEMPT TO FIT OTHER TYPES OF GAS CANISTERS SUCH AS NATURAL GAS.
CAUTION: accessible parts may be very hot. Keep young children away from the appliance. CARBON MONOXIDE HAZARD - USING THIS APPLIANCE IN AN ENCLOSED SPACE MAY CAUSE DEATH. DO NOT USE IN CARAVANS, TENTS, MARINE CRAFT, CARS, MOBILE HOMES OR SIMILAR LOCATIONS.

ATTENTION: This product has been safety-tested and is only certified for use in specific countries as per the specifications in the above table.

WARNING: Should there be any problems, do not attempt repair on the product yourself. Please consult with your local Cobb dealer. Failing to do so may cause fire or an explosion resulting in injury or death and damage to property.

This product cannot be disposed of with household refuse. For instructions on the proper disposal method of this product, please contact your local gas supplier.

Warnings

- Read the instructions before using the appliance

- Check that all seals between the appliance and the gas cylinder are in place and in good condition before connecting the gas cylinder. Do not use a cylinder if it has damaged or worn seals causing leaks. Do not use a cylinder which is damaged, or which does not operate properly.

- Always change or connect the gas cylinder outside, away from people and any source of ignition. Do not tamper with or remove the gas cylinder, regulator, or any fitting while in use.

- Turn off the gas supply at the gas cylinder after use.

- The Cobb Premier+ Gas must be disconnected from the gas cylinder after use or when in storage. Do not store a spare or disconnected gas cylinder under or near this grill. After a period of storage, the Cobb Premier+ Gas should be checked for gas leaks when connected to a cylinder again.

• The Cobb Premier+ Gas must be operated on a secure level base.

- This appliance must be kept away from flammable materials during use. Keep the cooking area clear of flammable vapours and liquids such as gasoline, alcohol and combustible materials.

- Use outdoors only.

- If there is a leak on your appliance (smell of gas), take it outside immediately into a well-ventilated flame free location where the leak may be detected and stopped. If you wish to check for leaks on your appliance, do it outside, away from people. Do not try to detect leaks using a flame but rather use soap water which will bubble when applied generously onto the leaking connections.

- WARNING: accessible parts may be very hot. Keep young children away

- Do not modify the appliance. Parts sealed by Cobb or our agents shall not be manipulated by the user.

- Do not store or make use of any flammable liquids or vapours in the vicinity of the Cobb Premier+ Gas.

- CARBON MONOXIDE HAZARD— Using this appliance in an enclosed space may cause death. Do not use in caravans, tents, marine craft, cars, mobile homes or similar locations.

- Do not tamper with the inner parts or convert any component on the Cobb Premier+ Gas.

• Always keep your Cobb Premier+ Gas clean.

- Do not pour liquid into the Inner Sleeve while hot.

- Do not leave hot fat or oil unattended on the Cobb Premier+ Gas as this could create a fire hazard.

- Should a fire (grease, oil etc.) occur, turn off all burners and leave the Dome Cover closed until fire is out.

- The Cobb Premier+ Gas can be a potential fire hazard if not handled with care.

- Please carefully follow the assembly and fitting instructions in this manual.

- Use the Cobb Premier+ Gas only for its intended purpose.

- Should the flame on the burner go out while in operation, the grill is equipped with a thermocouple which will cut off the gas supply. Should this happen, immediately turn the regulator knob to the "off" position. Open the dome lid and wait 5 minutes before attempting to reignite. Please refer to igniting instructions in this manual for the ignition process.

- Ensure all 4 grommets are in place before, during and after cooking.

- A dented or rusted cylinder may be hazardous and should be checked and certified by your gas supplier prior to use.

- Although your cylinder may appear to be empty, gas may still be present. The canister should be transported, stored and disposed of accordingly. Contact your local Cobb Distributor or Gas supplier for advise on the disposal of Gas canisters/cylinders.

- Exercise caution when using the Cobb Premier+ Gas. High temperatures will be achieved during cooking. Your Cobb Premier+ Gas should not be left unattended

- Do not move the appliance during use.

- Never lean over/reach directly over the unit while cooking as high temperatures will be experienced or may cause harm.

- Never place hands on the metallic sections of the Dome Cover, Black Top Ring or on the underside of the unit while operational as these surfaces may be hot and injury may occur.

• The Cobb Premier+ Gas must be cleaned thoroughly after every use, once cooled.

- When cleaning the valves and burners take caution to ensure you do not enlarge any ports or orifices. Do not submerge the base of the grill when cleaning the unit.

- Butane mixtures and Propane gasses are not natural gasses. Using a natural gas on your Cobb Premier+ Gas is dangerous, and this will void your warranty.

- Use heat-protection/resistant gloves when operating the Cobb Premier+ Gas.

- The unit must be properly assembled according to the instructions. Do not use the Cobb Premier+ Gas unless all parts are in place.

• The Cobb Premier+ Gas is a stand-alone unit and must not be built-in to any construction. Ignoring this could cause serious damage/injury to property or the persons operating the unit. This also applies to installation in or on recreational vehicles/caravans or boats.
  • The Cobb Premier+ Gas is not intended for commercial use
• The Cobb Premier+ Gas is not intended, and should never be used, as a heater unless it is with a specific Cobb certified heater unit.
• The unit should not be used when under the influence of alcohol and/or any prescription/non-prescription drugs as this impairs the ability to properly assemble and operate the unit.
• Do not alter any parts sealed by the manufacturer. Any modifications could be dangerous and will void the warranty.
• Do not use the Cobb Premier+ Gas under an overhang or a combustible roof.
• Ensure that all electrical cables are kept away from the heated surfaces while in use.
• This appliance shall only be used in an above ground open air situation with natural ventilation, without stagnant areas, where gas leakage and products of combustion are rapidly dispersed by wind and natural convection.
• Gas is highly flammable. When connecting the gas cylinder make sure that there are no sources of ignition within a 5 m radius. Protect the gas cylinder and the gas hose from direct sunlight and other sources of heat (max. 50 °C). Take particular care to ensure that the gas hose does not touch any part of the hot barbecue.
• Use in an area where no flammable materials or substances are, or will be, in close proximity to the barbecue. Minimum distance to flammable materials or substances: 2 m overhead and 1 m to the side. Distance to flame-resistant materials, e.g. house walls: at least 0.6 m.

Placement of the gas cylinder during use

The gas cylinder must not be stored underneath the grill during use.

Position the gas cylinder next to the barbecue.

Note that the gas cylinder must not exceed the maximum height of 700 mm.

When using gas canisters

Igniting your Cobb Premier+ Gas

• The Cobb Premier+ Gas is not designed for manual lighting. The grills utilize an internal Piezo-ignition system which automatically ignites with the rotation of the control knob.
• Always check the Inner Sleeve/Moat for grease build-up before using. The Grill's components should always be kept clean and excess grease, oil or fat residues should be removed to avoid a residue fire. Residue fires can cause serious bodily harm.
• Prior to igniting your Cobb Premier+ Gas, ensure the cylinder is fitted correctly and you are in an area free of flammable liquid or vapour.
• The Cobb Premier+ Gas must be placed in a secure, level and stable position. Remove the Dome and all accessories to expose the burner with the Inner Sleeve still in place.

Ignition procedure

1) Depress and turn the control knob in an anti-clockwise direction until the knob provides some resistance at the Ignition symbol on the knob.
2) Wait 3 seconds whilst still depressing the knob
3) With the knob still depressed, turn the knob through to the "Max" indication on the knob.
4) A noticeable mechanical "striking sound" will be noticed as the Grill ignites and lights the burner.
5) Continue to depress and hold the knob for another 3-5 seconds in the "Max" position to allow the thermocouple device to heat.
6) Release the knob (still in the "max" position) and observe if the flames on the burner is sustained for at least 10 seconds.
- Should the burner not ignite, repeat steps 1 to 6 above.
• Once ignited the flame can be adjusted by turning the control knob between min and max to the necessary requirements.
- Place the accessory onto the Inner Sleeve, cover it with the Dome Cover and allow the grill to warm up for 5 minutes. NOTE: Various accessories may require different preheating periods. Consult this accessory packaging for details.

Failure to remove the Dome Cover while igniting the burner, or not waiting once lit to allow the gas to clear should the burner not have ignited may result in an explosive flare-up which can cause serious bodily harm. This appliance is designed to operate at the maximum available heat setting with the Dome Cover closed, once successfully lit. However, the lowest heat setting is recommended for roasting purposes.

Getting started

English

• Prior to lighting your Cobb Premier+ Gas, apply a thin layer of a non-stick cooking spray to the accessory's cooking surface with the exclusion of the Pizza Stone. Please read manufacturer's instructions carefully before use. Alternatively, a thin layer of oil can be applied to the accessory with the exclusion of the Pizza Stone.
  • After the Cobb Premier+ Gas is lit, place the accessory onto the Inner Sleeve.
• Place the Dome Cover onto the grill and allow the accessory to preheat for 5 minutes. NOTE: Various accessories may require different preheating periods. Consult this accessory packaging for details.
  • The size and weight of the food will determine cooking time of the dish.
• You can fry or grill, with or without the Dome Cover in place.
• For most dishes, it is better to cook with the Dome in place. One should avoid opening or removing the Dome Cover too often as this will lower the grill's heat build-up and cooking temperatures prolonging the cooking process. You will learn what works best for the required dish being prepared whilst experiencing the versatility of the Cobb Premier+ Gas.
• Ensure that all food is properly thawed and never cook frozen food.
• When roasting or baking, the Dome Cover must be on to create an oven effect.
• When baking, it is best to have a baking tin or bowl which is slightly smaller than the grill's diameter (approx. 25cm or 10") resting on the Fenced Roast Rack on top of the Alu Grill Grid or Griddle+ as to allow the hot air to circulate all round the bottom, sides and top of the dish.

Roasting tips and warnings

• For the best results use the Grill Grid and Fenced Roast Rack or Griddle+ and Fenced Roast Rack (optional extra).
• Ignite your Cobb Premier+ Gas and set the regulator knob to minimum. Place the Grill Grid/Griddle+, Fenced Roast Rack and Dome Cover on to the Inner Sleeve and allow to heat for 5 minutes on the minimum heat setting before adding the food to the top of the Fenced Roast Rack
• Depending on the size and type of the roast, cooking time should take between 70 and 120 minutes.
  • Never leave the Cobb Premier+ Gas unattended.
• Check on your roast every 20 – 25 minutes.
• Turn your roast during these 20-25 intervals to ensure even cooking.
• Please note that excessive oil and fat may ignite which is why the minimum heat setting is recommended for roasting purposes.

Disconnecting the gas hose from the grill

• Ensure the control knob on the grill is situated/pointing to the off position.
• Ensure that the regulator on the gas cylinder is closed completely.
• Check the burners are extinguished before disconnecting the gas canister or cylinder
• Ensure that the grill has cooled to the touch
• Remove the Dome, accessories and Inner Sleeve for the grill's base.
• Flip the base upside down exposing the bottom of the grill
• Use an adequately sized wrench to unscrew the screwed connection indicated below.
• Reassemble the grill with the Inner Sleeve, accessories and Dome once cleaned and pack the unit for storage.

Getting started

Cleaning your Cobb Premier+ Gas

• Always clean your Cobb Premier+ Gas after each use.
- Ensure the Cobb Premier+ Gas is completely cool before cleaning.
- Carefully remove the Dome Cover and the accessories in use.
- Carefully remove the Inner Sleeve as it may contain oil, fat, liquids, etc.
- Remove the gas cylinder after each use
• The accessories, Inner Sleeve and Dome Cover are dishwasher safe (with the exception of the Pizza Stone).
- You can use cleaning cloths, sponges or brushes suitable for stainless steel products to wipe clean the Inner Sleeve, Dome Cover and accessories in a lukewarm soap water solution. Use dishwashing liquid or cleaning materials suitable for stainless steel or aluminium products when cleaning the grill and components.
- Never use abrasive products on the stainless steel or non-stick components. The abrasion may damage the appearance of the stainless steel or remove and damage the non-stick coatings.
- The Base and all other parts not mentioned above, should be cleaned by using a lukewarm soapy solution and cleaning cloth/sponge to wipe clean taking care never to submerge the components.

Storing your Cobb Premier+ Gas

• The cylinder must be removed from the Cobb Premier+ Gas when not in use.
• Gas cylinder should be stored outdoors in a well-ventilated area out of the reach of children. Any indoor storage shall comply with AS/NZS 1596.
• If you store your Cobb Premier+ Gas for a lengthy period of time, apply a light coat of vegetable oil to all stainless steel surfaces but not the Nylon Top Ring and brass components such as the nozzle/jet.
• After a period of storage, the Cobb Premier+ Gas should be checked for gas leaks and any obstructions in the burner tubes before using.
• When removing your Cobb Premier+ Gas from storage having applied the above beforehand, please remove all oil applied to the various surfaces before use.

Troubleshooting

Problem Check Solution
No flame or very low flame	Empty gas canister or cylinder	A. Shake the canister or cylinder to ascertain if there is liquid gas in the vessel.
Blocked or partially	blocked jet	A. Do not attempt to clean it as this could damage the jet and could make the unit unsafe.B. Take your Gas Cobb to your local approved gas dealer to replace the jet.
Flame height not consistent		A. Can be caused by “dirty” gas. Replace gas canister or cylinder
Burn back i.e. ignition under the burner cap		A. Immediately switch off the grill by turning the knob to the “off” position and/or close the regulator on the gas canister/cylinder. Stand back until the flames go out.B. Return your Gas Cobb to your local Cobb dealer for attention.

Maintenance

• A normal flame is blue and may have orange tips. If the flame is completely yellow adjust the ventilation plate bigger or smaller until the flame burns blue.
• To adjust the ventilation, use a screwdriver to loosen the screw holding the ventilation in place indicated below. Adjust ventilation to desired air flow and return screw to the secured position.
• If the flame does not turn blue it could be that the venture tube has an obstruction, or the jet is not securely fitted. If the jet gets blocked, do not try to clean the blockage. It must be replaced with the appropriate jet. Your local approved gas dealer or Cobb agent will be able to replace this.
  • This appliance must only be serviced by an authorized person.
• Please note that any grill in storage can become a target for spiders and other insects. They can nest in the venturi section of the burner tube which in turn may block the standard gas flow, causing the gas to flow back out of the air shutter. This could result in a fire in or around the air shutter and has the ability to cause damage to your Cobb Premier+ Gas. We recommend that you inspect the Burner Tube annually, or when the unit is not used regularly.

Please note that any grill in storage can become a target for spiders and other insects. They can nest in the venturi section of the burner tube which in turn may block the standard gas flow, causing the gas to flow back out of the air shutter. This could result in a fire in or around the air shutter and has the ability to cause damage to your Cobb Premier+ Gas. We recommend that you inspect the Burner Tube annually, or when the unit is not used regularly.

Symptoms to be aware of:

• The flames turning yellow in colour and appearing lazy in addition to the smell of gas
• Standard temperatures not being reached
- Uneven heating
- Failure to ignite the burner

1. COBB PREMIER+ GAS 2 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

If inspection confirms that it is defective in material or workmanship, Cobb International (PTY) Ltd will provide free replacement of parts or exchange a new Cobb Premier+ Gas. Transport and handling will be for the users account.

This warranty is void if:

• The Cobb Premier+ Gas is explicitly or implicitly modified, tampered with, altered or repaired in any way by persons other than authorised representatives of Cobb International (PTY) Ltd.
  • The Cobb Premier+ Gas has been damaged through misuse, negligence, accident or natural calamities.
  • The Cobb Premier+ Gas has not been cleaned after each use.

For services under this warranty contact your local Cobb Premier+ Gas dealer, describing the problem including your proof of purchase.
