Frequently Asked Questions - Pro Compact Cobb

How to light the Cobb Pro Compact?

Two options: either use fire starters with charcoal briquettes (option 1), or light a Cobble Stone directly (option 2). In both cases, let the charcoal form embers for 25-30 minutes before placing the cooking plate.

How long does a charcoal load last for cooking?

A 250-300 g charcoal load or a Cobble Stone provides about 2 hours of cooking. Time may vary depending on fuel quality.

What to do if food is not cooking properly?

Check that the embers are well formed and the cooking plate is hot (3 minutes preheating). Make sure the ventilation system is not obstructed. Use a thermometer to control internal temperature.

How to clean the barbecue?

Let the charcoal completely die out (wait 35 minutes after extinguishing). Clean the exterior with a damp cloth. Never immerse parts in water. For stubborn residues, use a soft brush.

What is the warranty for the Cobb Pro Compact?

Cobb offers a limited 2-year warranty against manufacturing or material defects. Transport costs are borne by the recipient. The warranty is void if the appliance has been repaired by an unauthorized person.

Can I use wood instead of charcoal?

It is not recommended to use wood inside the Cobb as it may cause a fire hazard. Use only charcoal briquettes or Cobble Stones.

How to smoke fish or chicken?

Place food on the grid and close the lid. Use flavoring liquid in the tray to maintain humidity. The natural charcoal smoke will give a smoky taste. Check recipes on the Cobb website.

How to cook vegetables?

Wrap vegetables in parchment paper and place them in the tray. Cut hard vegetables into small pieces. Add butter, herbs, and spices. Cook about 40 minutes.

What to do if smoke is too strong?

Make sure the ventilation is not obstructed. Use quality charcoal and avoid overloading the combustion chamber. If the smoke taste is too strong, reduce preheating time or use drier briquettes.

2. COBB grill 2 ÅRS BEGRÅNSET GARANTI

• Always keep your Cobb clean.
- Do not Leave hot fat or oil unattended. This could pose as a fire hazard.
• Caution: Metal surfaces do get hot when fuelling your Cobb and cooking
• Do not Light and use the Cobb indoors.
• The Cobb must be utilized in a well ventilated area.
- Burning charcoal indoors can be fatal. Coals give off Carbon Monoxide which has no odour. Never burn charcoal indoors.
- When using Cobble Stones™/briquettes/charcoal:
- Keep away from children, animals and open flame.
• Do not ignite indoors.
• Use at a safe distance from inflammable items.
After cooking, remove the dome and grill grid to allow the Cobble Stone™, briquettes & charcoal to completely burnt out.
• Be sure the ashes are completely cool before discarding.

Fuelling your Cobb

The better the quality of the briquette, the better the results. Do not use any form of Liquid fuel. Always ensure that all 3 grommets are in place at all times.

Option 1: Lighting your Briquettes/Charcoal

A. Place fire starter into fire chamber which sits in inner sleeve (refer diagram A). Light fire starter (refer to diagram B).
B. Load fire grid with desired amount of briquettes then place on top of ignited fire starters.
- Use 8-10 briquettes for steak, chops, sausages and chicken pieces.
C. Allow the coals to burn for 25-30 minutes until they are grey in colour (Time may vary due to quality of charcoal & briquettes used).
D. Only put on the grill grid(2) and the dome cover(1) once coals are grey and you are ready to cook.
E. Place grill grid onto Cobb and allow to warm up for 3 minutes. You are now ready to cook for over 2 hours.

Option 2: Lighting your Cobble Stones™

A. Remove the Cobble Stone™ from the wrapper-place Cobble Stone into the fire grid and Light in the centre (no firelighter is required).
B. Wait 4-5 minutes to allow the Cobble Stone to stop smoking.
C. Place grill grid onto Cobb and allow to warm up for 3 minutes. You are now ready to cook for over 2 hours.

NBI The size and weight of the food will determine the number of briquettes/charcoal required as well as the length of time to cook. Quality of briquettes /charcoal used can also affect estimated cooking time. 1 Cobble Stone™ or 8-10 Briquettes 250/300g charcoal gives up to 2 hours cooking time when used in the Cobb.
