How to turn on the Perel VTBAL501 scale?

Place the scale on a horizontal surface, then press the ON/OFF button. The scale turns on and is ready to weigh.

How to choose the measurement unit?

Turn on the scale, then press the MODE button to cycle through the available units: g, kg, oz, lb, lb:oz.

How to use the tare function?

Place the container or tare object on the platform, press the TARE button once and wait for the display to show '0.00'. Then add the net weight.

How to use the hold function?

Place the object to be weighed on the scale, then press the HOLD button. The displayed value freezes even if you remove the object.

How to calibrate the scale?

Turn on the scale, press ON/OFF and MODE simultaneously until 'CAL' appears. Press MODE again, then place the required calibration weight in the center of the platform. 'PASS' confirms calibration.

What to do if the display shows 'O-Ld'?

'O-Ld' means the scale is overloaded. Immediately remove the object from the platform to avoid damaging the device.

How to disable auto-off?

Turn off the scale. Hold down the TARE button and press the ON/OFF button 4 to 5 times until 'OFFF' appears. Release the buttons.

How to clean the scale?

Use a damp cloth to clean the scale. Never use solvents, harsh detergents, or chemicals. Never immerse the scale in water.

What type of batteries to use?

The scale operates with 2 AAA/R03 1.5 V batteries. Batteries are included. Replace them as soon as the display becomes dim.

What is the maximum capacity of the scale?

The maximum capacity is 100 kg (220 lb). Never exceed this limit to avoid damaging the scale.

• Do not remove the cover under any conditions. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Never operate this device when its cover is removed.

4. Batteries

WARNING

Do not puncture batteries or throw them in fire as they may explode. Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. Dispose of batteries in accordance with local regulations. Keep batteries away from children.

• Open the battery compartment and insert the batteries according to the correct polarity.
• Replace the batteries as soon as the display turns dark.
• Remove the batteries after use.

6. Operation

6.1 General Operation

WARNING

The scales are overloaded as soon as the display shows "O-Ld". Remove the item from the platform.

1. Place the scales on a levelled surface.
2. Press the on-off button to switch on the scales.
3. Place the item on the platform and wait until the reading on the display is stable.
4. Switch off the scales after use. Note that the scales will switch off automatically 5 minutes after the last operation.

6.2 Unit Conversion

1. Switch on the scales.
2. Press the mode button to select the weighing unit.

6.3 Tare Function

1. Switch on the scales.
2. Place the tare item on the platform.
3. Press the tare button once and wait for the display to show "0.00".
4. Add the net weight.

6.4 Hold Function

1. Switch on the scales and weigh the item.
2. Press the hold button to freeze the weight on the display.

6.5 Calibration

1. Switch on the scales.
2. Press and hold the on-off button. At the same time, press the mode button and wait for the display to show "CAL".
3. Press the mode button again; the required calibration weight will flash on the display. Put the calibration weight in the centre of the platform.
4. Calibration is complete when the display shows "PASS".
5. The scales go back to the normal weighing mode.

6.6 Disabling the Auto Switch-Off Function

1. Switch off the scales.
2. Press and hold the tare button, and at the same time press the on-off button 4 or 5 times until "OFFF" is displayed. Release the buttons. The automatic switch-off function is now disabled.

7. Cleaning and Maintenance

• Occasionally wipe with a damp cloth to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents or strong detergents.
• Do not immerse the device in any liquid.

General Warranty Conditions Concerning Consumer Products (for EU):

• All consumer products are subject to a 24-month warranty on production flaws and defective material as from the original date of purchase.

• Velleman® can decide to replace an article with an equivalent article, or to refund the retail value totally or partially when the complaint is valid and a free repair or replacement of the article is impossible, or if the expenses are out of proportion.

You will be delivered a replacing article or a refund at the value of 100% of the purchase price in case of a flaw occurred in the first year after the date of purchase and delivery, or a replacing article at 50% of the purchase price or a refund at the value of 50% of the retail value in case of a flaw occurred in the second year after the date of purchase and delivery.

- Not covered by warranty:

• all direct or indirect damage caused after delivery to the article (e.g. by oxidation, shocks, falls, dust, dirt, humidity...), and by the article, as well as its contents (e.g. data loss), compensation for loss of profits;

• consumable goods, parts or accessories that are subject to an aging process during normal use, such as batteries (rechargeable, non-rechargeable, built-in or replaceable), lamps, rubber parts, drive belts... (unlimited list);

• flaws resulting from fire, water damage, lightning, accident, natural disaster, etc....

• flaws caused deliberately, negligently or resulting from improper handling, negligent maintenance, abusive use or use contrary to the manufacturer's instructions:

• damage caused by a commercial, professional or collective use of the article (the warranty validity will be reduced to six (6) months when the article is used professionally);

• damage resulting from an inappropriate packing and shipping of the article;

• all damage caused by modification, repair or alteration performed by a third party without written permission by Velleman®.

• Articles to be repaired must be delivered to your Velleman® dealer, solidly packed (preferably in the original packaging), and be completed with the original receipt of purchase and a clear flaw description.

• Hint: In order to save on cost and time, please reread the manual and check if the flaw is caused by obvious causes prior to presenting the article for repair. Note that returning a non-defective article can also involve handling costs.

• Repairs occurring after warranty expiration are subject to shipping costs.

• The above conditions are without prejudice to all commercial warranties.
