What water to use in the boiler of the Polti Cimex Eradicator?

Use tap water with medium hardness (between 10 and 20°f). If the water is very hard, mix 50% tap water with 50% demineralized water. Never use distilled water, rainwater, or water containing additives. To reduce limescale, add Polti Kalstop at each fill.

How to safely fill the boiler?

Before any filling, turn off the appliance and unplug it. Wait at least 2 hours for the boiler to cool completely (because it is under hot pressure). Unscrew the safety cap without forcing, fill with 2 liters of water, then screw the cap back on firmly. Never fill when the boiler is hot: cold water could cause a burst of hot steam.

How to use the Polti Cimex Eradicator against bed bugs?

After preparation (filling, plugging in, powering on), wait for the indicators to turn off. Place the Polti Steam Disinfector perpendicular to the surface to be treated, at the distance of the spacer flange. Distribute the steam in brushing motions. The superheated steam at 180°C kills adult bed bugs, larvae, and eggs. For maximum effectiveness, follow the included Quick Guide for Disinfection.

How to install the Polti HPMed bottle?

Unscrew the cap of the Polti HPMed bottle. Insert the provided wick into the bottle all the way to the bottom, straight. Then screw the bottle onto the gun junction, ensuring the wick penetrates without bending into the internal hole. Never screw the bottle without the wick. If the level does not decrease during use, the wick is incorrectly inserted.

What to do if steam does not come out?

Check the following points: 1) Does the boiler have enough water? If the indicator flashes, fill according to instructions (wait for cooling). 2) Is the boiler pressurized? Wait for the steam ready indicator to light up. 3) Is the gun correctly inserted? 4) Is the child safety lock disabled? If the problem persists, contact a Polti authorized service center.

How to clean and maintain the appliance?

Clean the exterior with a damp cloth. Accessories are cleaned with running water and must be dried. Every 10 uses, clean the gun nozzle using the provided cleaning rose. Every 2 months, rinse the boiler with tap water. Use Polti Kalstop to prevent limescale. Perform these operations with the appliance turned off, cold, and unplugged.

Can the appliance be used for regular cleaning in addition to disinfection?

Yes, with the optional steam cleaning kit PAEU0269, the Polti Cimex Eradicator transforms into a Polti Vaporetto to clean floors, carpets, sofas, bathrooms, and kitchens. This kit is available at authorized service centers and on the Polti website.

What is the warranty period and what does it cover?

The warranty is 2 years for domestic use, from the date of purchase. It covers manufacturing defects. For service, present the receipt. Not covered: damage due to non-compliant use, limescale, normal wear, non-original accessories, or unauthorized repairs.

Where to buy original accessories and consumables?

If the level of Polti HPMed does not decrease, the wick is incorrectly inserted or twisted in the bottle. Unscrew the bottle, remove the wick, then replace it straight to the bottom. Screw the bottle back on ensuring the wick enters without resistance. HPMed mixes automatically with steam; if the problem persists, contact after-sales service.

• During use there is pressure inside the boiler. Do not remove the boiler cap if the equipment is switched ON.

the boiler, ensure that the appliance is switched off at the power switch and disconnected from the mains for at least two hours.

• Always unplug the appliance if it is not in use.
• This appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. In order to reduce the risk of accidents, including: fires, electrocution, personal injury and scalding, both during use and during preparation, maintenance and storage, always take the basic precautions listed in this manual.

RISKS CONNECTED TO THE POWER SUPPLY - ELECTROCUTION

• The earthing system and highly sensitive residual-current circuit breaker, complete with magnetothermic cut-out for your domestic system, guarantee safe use of electrical appliances.

Therefore, for your own safety, check that the electrical system to which the appliance is connected complies with current laws.

• Do not connect the appliance to the mains if the voltage does not correspond with that of the domestic electrical circuit in use.
• Do not overload sockets with adaptors and/or transformers.

Only connect the product to a single socket with current that is compatible with the plug supplied.

• Electrical extension leads that are unsuitable for the power rating or which are not compliant with law may overheat and possibly lead to short circuiting, fire, power outage or damage to the equipment. Only use extension leads which are certified, suitable for the power rating, supporting 16A and earthed.
• Always turn the appliance off before unplugging it.
• To remove the plug from the socket, do not pull the power cable, but hold the plug itself to avoid damage to the plug and the cable.
• Fully unwind the cable from the cable winder before connecting the appliance to the mains and before use. Always use the product with the cable completely unwound.
• Do not pull or jerk the cable or expose it to tensions (twisting, crushing or stretching). Keep the cable away from hot and/or sharp surfaces and elements. Avoid crushing the cables in doors and windows. Do not pull the cable tight around corners. Avoid treading on the cable. Do not wind the power cable around the appliance, especially if the appliance is hot. Do not place the appliance on top of the power cable, this can be dangerous.
• Do not substitute the plug on the power cable.
• If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid all possible hazards. Do not use the product if the power cable is damaged.
• Do not touch or use the appliance barefoot and/or with wet body or feet.
• Do not use in swimming pools containing water. Do not use the appliance near containers full of water, e.g. sinks, baths and swimming pools.
• Never immerse the cleaner in water or other fluid.

RISKS DURING USE OF THE PRODUCT - INJURIES/SCALDING

• The product should not be used in areas where there is a danger of explosions or in the presence of toxic substances.
• Do not pour toxic substances, acids, solvents, detergents,

corrosive substances and/or explosives or perfumes into the boiler.

• Only pour water or the water mix indicated in the section "Which water to use in the boiler" into the boiler.
• Do not direct the steam jet onto toxic substances, acids, solvents, detergents or corrosive substances.
• Do not direct the steam jet onto explosive powders or liquids, hydrocarbons, open flames and or extremely hot objects.
• The handling and removal of dangerous substances must be carried out according to the indications of the manufacturers of these substances.
• Do not position the product near sources of heat such as fireplaces, stoves and ovens.
• Do not position the product near electromagnetic fields such as induction plates.
• Re-wind the cable when the appliance is not in use.
• Use the special carry handle for transport. Do not pull the power cable. Do not use the power cable as a handle. Do not lift the appliance using the power cable or the steam hoses/vacuum tubes.
• Do not obstruct the openings and grills on the product.
• Do not direct the steam jet on any part of the body of people or animals.
• Do not direct the steam jet onto clothes while they are being worn.
• Cloths and rags and fabrics which have been subjected to a deep steam reach very high temperatures, above 100^ . Wait a few minutes and check that they have cooled before handling them. Therefore, avoid contact with the skin if they have just been steamed.
• During use, keep the base in a horizontal position on stable surfaces.

The steam lock on the handle guarantees greater safety, as it prevents the accidental activation of steam delivery by children or people who are unaware of the function of the appliance. When steam is not being used, engage the steam lock.

To continue steam delivery, return the switch to its original

position.

• Always use the appliance with the safety cap supplied or an original replacement part. Using non-original Polti safety caps can lead to accidents.
• When accessing the pressurised boiler (removing the cap, filling up), ensure that the appliance has been switched off at the power switch and disconnected from the mains for at least two hours, allowing it to cool. There is a risk of accidents while the boiler is switched on/hot and pressurised.
• Do not connect the appliance with the safety cap removed. Carefully tighten the safety cap before plugging in and turning on the appliance.
• Before turning on the appliance, check that there is nothing blocking the mouth of the boiler (filler bottle, funnel, or other objects), and that the safety cap is closed.
• Check that the safety cap is correctly tightened; if steam is escaping from the cap, switch off the boiler, unplug the power cable, wait for two hours for the appliance to cool, and then unscrew. Check the condition of the safety cap and seal. If the cap is in good condition, screw it back on completely. If steam continues to escape from the cap, leave it to cool for 2 hours, then take the appliance to the nearest authorised service centre.
• Periodically check the condition of the safety cap and seal. Impact and being dropped may compromise the safety of the cap. Replace with an original spare part or replace the seal.
• If the cap spins freely, this indicates that the boiler is still pressurised and therefore hot. Never force the cap open, whether the appliance is switched on or the boiler is switched off and the appliance is disconnected from the mains. Always wait for the boiler to cool for 2 hours before opening the cap without forcing it.
• Do not use tools to unscrew the cap. If the cap cannot be removed, even once the appliance has cooled, go to your nearest authorised service centre.
• WARNING Never fill the boiler as soon as the safety cap has been opened when the boiler is still hot, even if the appliance is unplugged from the mains. On contact with the

hot, empty boiler, cold water will evaporate producing a spray of steam which can cause burns. Only fill the boiler when cold and always keep your face away from the boiler mouth when filling.

• The use of non-original Polti caps and disregard for the instructions in this manual constitutes improper use. Polti S.p.A. declines all liability for any accident deriving from any improper use of this appliance.

CORRECT USE OF THE PRODUCT

This appliance is intended for domestic use as a generator of steam heated to 180^ to remove infestations of bed bugs. To use the product correctly, please refer to the instructions listed in this manual. Please read these instructions carefully and keep them. If this manual is lost, it can be consulted and/or downloaded from the website www.polti.co.uk.

Never leave the appliance exposed to weathering.

POLTI S.p.A. reserves the right to make the aesthetic, technical and construction changes it deems necessary, without prior notice. Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested. This is the reason why your Polti Cimex Eradicator may contain some residual water in the boiler.

Correct use of the product is only as detailed in this instruction manual. Any other use may damage the appliance and invalidate the warranty.

INFORMATION FOR USERS

Pursuant to European Directive 2012/19/EU, regarding electric and electronic appliances, this appliance must not be disposed of with domestic waste, but sent to an official collection facility. This appliance complies with EU Directive 2011/65/EU.

The crossed-out bin symbol on the appliance indicates that, at the end of its useful lifespan, the product must be disposed of separately from

other waste. Therefore, at the end of its life, the user must hand over the appliance to an appropriate collection centre for electric and electronic waste or, according to the legislation in force in the country, leave the

used appliance with the distributor when buying a new product to replace it. Proper separate waste collection to facilitate the subsequent recycling, treatment and environmentally compatible disposal of the appliance helps to prevent negative effects on the environment and human health, and promotes recycling of the materials the product is made of. Unlawful disposal by the owner involves the application of the administrative sanctions envisaged by current legislation.

WHICH WATER TO USE IN THE BOILER

This appliance has been designed to function with normal medium tap water between 8^ f and 20^ f. If the tap water contains a lot of limescale use a mix composed of 50% tap water and 50% demineralised water which is widely available to purchase. Do not use pure demineralised water.

Warning: check the hardness of the water at the technical office at your local council or the local water supplier.

If you only use tap water, you can reduce the formation of limescale by using the special Polti Kalstop limescale product, distributed by Polti, and available for sale at all major domestic-appliance stores or online at www.polti.com.

Never use distilled water, rain water or water containing additives (e.g. starch, perfumes), or water produced by other domestic appliances, by water softeners or filter jugs.

Do not add chemical, natural, detergent, or limescale removing substances, etc.

USE

Polti Cimex Eradicator is a steam generator

equipped with Polti Steam Disinfector (Polti worldwide patent), a gun capable of dispensing steam heated to 180^ . Polti Cimex Eradicator is a natural and effective method for eliminating the problem of bed bugs. Laboratory tests and field trials have shown that Polti Cimex Eradicator treatment with dry saturated steam heated to 180^ is able to eliminate 100% of eggs and larvae and more than 90% of adult insects with the first pass. The steam dispenser, Polti Steam Disinfector, is equipped with a controlled-expansion heat exchange device, Polti world patent, which further heats the steam generated by the boiler to the temperatures reported above. In this way, eggs, larvae and insects die in a few seconds from heat shock. To eliminate 100% of adult insects and get advice on how to find and remove the bugs, please follow the instructions listed in the Quick Guide to Disinfestation. The Polti HPMed, mixed with the steam at the time it is dispensed, removes the bad smells generated by the bed bugs. Polti HPMed is a water-alcohol solution that can be dispensed when people are present.

1. PREPARED FOR USE

1.1 Remove the appliance from the packaging, checking that the product is whole and that all the parts are there.
1.2 Attach the pivoting wheels to the base of the appliance applying pressure (1).
1.3 Unscrew the safety cap (2) and fill the boiler with 2l of water (3)(if completely empty). Carefully screw the safety cap back on (2), checking that it is fully tightened.

This operation must always be carried out when the boiler has cooled and with the power cable disconnected from the mains. 1.4 Open the door of the built-in socket and insert the Polti Steam Disinfector built-in plug of the steam hose (4), pressing the specif button and making sure that the hooking pin is inserted perfectly in the specific locking hole on the socket.
1.5 Unscrew the cap of the Polti HPMed detergent (5).
1.6 Insert the stopper into the bottle (6) until it rests on the base of the bottle, ensuring that it stays as straight as possible (7).
1.7 Screw the bottle into the dispensing gun fitting taking care to ensure that the stopper enters the hole inside the fitting perfectly, without bending (8).

WARNING: Do not screw the bottle to the gun without the stopper. If no consumption of Polti HPMed is seen during use of the product, this means that the stopper has not been inserted correctly, or has folded within the bottle. Unscrew the bottle and repeat the insertion procedure, taking care to position it correctly.

1.8 Connect the cable plug to an earthed power supply of the correct voltage(9). Completely unwind the power cable before plugging it into the mains and before use, and always use the appliance with the power cable completely unwound.
1.9 Press the boiler switch ( ) and the accessories switch ( ) (10), which will light up together with the "steam ready" indicator light ( ) and the indicator light on the Polti Steam Disinfector.
1.10 Wait for the "steam ready" indicator light and the steam dispenser light to turn off. The indicator light (16) signals that there is pressure in the boiler. The appliance is ready for use.

WARNING: If steam is escaping from the safety cap, switch the appliance off and unplug it from the mains. Wait for one two for the appliance to cool before unscrewing the cap and screwing it back on.

WARNING: When first operating steam, there may be some drops of water mixed with the steam due to temperature imbalances.

2. STEAM ADJUSTMENT

You can optimise the steam flow by means of the steam adjustment knob located on the steam generator (11). To increase the flow, turn the knob in an anticlockwise direction. Turning it in a clockwise direction reduces the flow. For maximum efficiency, set the adjustment knob to the maximum level.

3. USE OF POLTI STEAM DISINFECTOR

The steam dispenser has a safety switch which prevents the accidental activation of steam delivery by children or people unaware of its operation. Should the appliance be left momentarily unguarded, move the safety switch to the off position (12). To continue steam delivery, move the switch back to its original position (13).

3.1 Direct the steam downwards for 2 seconds

in order to bring all the components of the appliance to their correct temperature, in order to avoid condensation.

WARNING: For additional safety, test steam delivery on a hidden part, leave the steamed part to dry to ensure that no changes in colour or deformations have occurred.

3.2 Position the Polti Steam Disinfector in a position perpendicular to the surface to be treated and keep it at the distance provided by the spacer bracket / holder to avoid direct contact in case of delicate material (14).
3.3 Deliver the steam on a continuous movement, using "brushing" movements to cover the surface to be treated. In this way the flow of dry steam at high temperatures will kill the bugs, devitalising their eggs on all treated surfaces.

Polti Cimex Eradicator delivers dry saturated steam at high temperatures that will dry without leaving residues within 30 seconds to 1 minute, depending on environmental conditions.

3.4 Connect the accessories depending on the use:

Straight flow concentrator, for a concentrated jet.

Curved flow concentrator to reach difficult places.

Just bring the accessory chosen into line with the delivery device nozzle and rotate the accessory until it locks into place (15).

4. POLTI HPMED

The characteristics of the Polti HPMed detergent make it the ideal aid to the action of dry saturated steam at high temperatures delivered by Polti Cimex Eradicator.

Polti HPMed is a water-alcohol solution that removes the bad smells generated by bed bugs. Polti HPMed can be dispensed when people are present. Polti HPMed, mixed with the steam flow makes it possible to successfully remove the eggs, organic traces due to bed bug faeces and to completely eliminate the characteristic odour of these insects.

WARNING:

• Keep out of the reach of children.
• IF SWALLOWED: Rinse mouth DO NOT induce vomiting. Immediately contact a POISON CENTRE or a doctor.
• Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing.
• Avoid releasing into the environment.
• Dispose of in conformity with local regulations.

5. OUT OF WATER

The lack of water in the boiler is indicated by the flashing of the indicator light (5)

WARNING: Never fill the boiler as soon as the safety cap is opened. The boiler is still h even if the appliance is unplugged. On contact with the hot, empty boiler, cold water w evaporate producing a spray of steam which could cause burns. Only fill the boiler when i is cold and always keep your face away from the boiler opening when filling.

WARNING: Steam.

Risk of scalding!

To continue with use, proceed as follows:

• Turn off the boiler switch ( ) and the accessory switch ( )
  Unplug from the mains electricity.
• Wait at least 10 minutes and remove the safety cap, unscrewing it without force.
• Leave the appliance to cool for at least 10 minutes.
• Fill the boiler as indicated in Section 1.
• Carefully screw the safety cap back on, checking that it is completely closed.

WARNING: If, during unscrewing, the cap spins freely or if steam is escaping, immediately stop the operation, ensuring that the boiler is switched off and the power cable is unplugged from the mains. Wait for the appliance to cool (two hour) and unscrew the cap before removal. TAKE CARE OF YOUR FACE !!!

6. GENERAL MAINTENANCE

To clean the outside of the appliance, only use a damp cloth and tap water. All accesso

ries can be cleaned using running water, ensuring they are completely dry before the next use.

Clean the Polti Steam Disinfector every 10 uses or if visibly dirty. Clean the dispensing nozzle using the brush included, sliding it inside the gun so as to remove any limescale residue in it (17).

WARNING: Perform these operations when the appliance is turned off, cold and disconnected from the mains or disconnected from Polti Cimex Eradoricator.

Do not use detergents of any type.
Every 2 months, rinse the boiler with tap water.

7. POLTI KALSTOP optional (code PAEU0094)

Polti Kalstop is the timescale product for appliances with boiler for ironing and steam cleaning.

Regular use of Polti Kalstop, every time the tank is filled with water:

• Extends the life of the appliance.
• Allows emission of a "drier" steam
• Prevents limescale build up.
• Protects the walls of the boiler.
• Contributes to saving energy.

HOW TO USE POLTI KALSTOP

7.1 Open the bottle and pour half the contents into the boiler filled previously with water.
7.2 Continue with the rest of the operations listed in Section 1 "Preparation for use".

When the water is particularly hard, use greater concentrations (up to one phial per litre of water).

Polti Kalstop is on sale at household appliance stores, at Polti authorised service centres or on the site www.polti.com.

8. STORAGE

8.1 Turn off the appliance and disconnect from the mains electricity.

1. TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION
The appliance does not turn on.	No power. Check that the product has been connected to the mains, as indicated in Section 1.
The “steam ready” indicator light and the steam dispenser light come on and go off during use.	This indicates that the electrical resistor has started to work to keep the pressure constant	It is a normal phenomenon, no action is necessary.
Does not dispense steam. Out of water. The boiler is not yet pressurised. The steam dispenser is not inserted correctly. Child safety inserted.	Add water to the boiler as described in Section 5. Wait until the steam indicator light comes on. Insert the steam dispenser (4) correctly all the way down. Deactivate the safety switch.
Steam does not come out and the cap won’t unscrew.	Steam button broken. Do not try to open the cap. Take the device to an Authorised Service Centre.
The appliance is pressurized but little steam comes out.	Steam adjustment dial set to the minimum.	Adjust the position of the dial for the desired increase.
During use the appliance does not consume Polti HP-Med.	The stopper inside the bottle has not been inserted correctly.	Insert the stopper correctly, following the instructions in Section 1.

WARRANTY

This appliance is for domestic use only and is guaranteed for two years from the date of purchase against any defects present at the time the goods are handed over; the date of purchase must be proven via a proof of purchase document valid for tax purposes and issued by the seller.

For repairs, the appliance must be accompanied by proof of purchase.

This warranty does not affect the consumer rights deriving from European Directive 99/44/EC as regards some aspects of sale and warranty of consumer goods, rights which the consumer should uphold with respect to the seller.

This warranty is valid in the countries which adhere to European Directive 99/44/EC. For other countries, local regulations on warranties apply.

WHAT THE WARRANTY COVERS

During the warranty, Polti guarantees free repair of a product with a manufacturing or factory defect and, therefore, the client is not liable to pay for any work or materials.

In case of irreparable defects, Polti may replace the product free of charge.

To avail of the warranty, the customer should visit one of the Polti Authorised Service Centres with proof of purchase from the seller valid for tax purposes and bearing the date of purchase of the product. Without proof of purchase and the relative date of purchase, the work will be charged for. Store the proof of purchase document safely for the whole duration of the warranty.

WHAT THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER

• Any fault or damage not deriving from a manufacturing defect.
• Any fault due to improper use or use other than that indicated in the instruction booklet, an integral part of the product sales contract.
• Any defect resulting from force majeure (fires, short circuits) or caused by third parties (tampering).
• Damage caused by the use of non-original Polti parts, and repairs or modifications performed by staff or service centres not authorised by Polti.
• Damage caused by the customer.
• Parts (filter, brush, hose, battery, etc.) damaged by use (consumable goods) or normal wear and tear.
• Any damage caused by limescale.
• Defects resulting from lack of maintenance/cleaning according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  Assembly of non-original Polti accessories or those that have been modified or which are not suitable for the appliance.

Inappropriate use and/or use not compliant with the instructions for use and any other warnings or indications contained in this manual invalidates the warranty.

Polti takes no responsibility for any direct or indirect damage to people, objects or animals caused by non-compliance with the instructions indicated in this instruction booklet, regarding warnings for use and product maintenance.
