Frequently Asked Questions - Alliance H12400HB AirCare

How to install the AirCare Alliance humidifier?
Remove the unit from the packaging. Insert the 4 casters into the bottom of the cabinet. Place the float in the circular area at the bottom. Install the 1045 Super Wick with the BACK side facing the vent. Place the fan on the cabinet ensuring the float is connected to the switch. Fill the water bottle, screw on the cap, place it in the base with the cap down. Let the water drain twice, then put the bottle back. Close the lid, wait 20 minutes for the wick to saturate, then plug in and adjust.
How to adjust fan speed and humidity?
Turn the power knob to choose among 4 speeds (F1 slowest, F4 fastest). Turn the humidity control knob to set the desired level between 25% and 65%. The hygrostat on the cord stops the fan when the level is reached. Set to 65%, the unit runs continuously.
What do error codes F, CL and CF mean?
Code F: the unit is empty, fill the water bottle. Code CL: the controls are locked. Unlock by pressing and holding the power button for 5 seconds until CL appears again. Code CF: after 720 hours of use, indicates need to check the wick. If the wick is in good condition, unplug and replug to clear the code; otherwise, replace with a new one.
How to clean the humidifier?
Let the unit run until empty, then unplug. Remove all contents from the cabinet. Clean with a damp cloth. Empty remaining water. Fill the bottle halfway with water and add one cup of white vinegar, let sit for 20 minutes. To disinfect, use bleach instead of vinegar (do not mix). Rinse thoroughly and wipe with a dry microfiber cloth.
How often should I replace the wick?
The frequency depends on your water hardness. Typically, replace the wick every 1 to 3 months. Harder water requires more frequent changes. Using a bactericidal wick (ref. Enelk Air) can extend its life. Code CF appears after 720 hours (about 30 days of continuous use) to remind you to check the wick.
Can I use essential oils in the unit?
No, it is not recommended to use essential oils in the Alliance. They can damage components and promote microorganism growth. Use only tap or filtered water.
Where to place the humidifier for optimal efficiency?
Place the Alliance in the most central room of your home, on a flat surface against an interior wall. Ensure at least 2 inches (5 cm) of space behind the unit for the hygrostat to measure humidity correctly. Avoid placing under a shelf or in a corner.
What to do if the humidifier does not turn on?
Check that the unit is plugged into a working 120 V outlet and the power knob is pressed. Ensure the wick is saturated (wait 20 min after filling). If code F appears, fill the bottle. If the float is not correctly positioned, the unit may detect low water. Contact customer service if problem persists.
How to order spare parts?
Spare parts are listed on page 10 of the manual. You can order the 1045 Super Wick, 1051 air filter, float, float rod, casters, etc. Contact customer service at 800-547-3888 or visit aircareproducts.com. The warranty does not cover the wick beyond 30 days.
The humidifier is noisy, is that normal?
Yes, at high speeds (F3, F4), the Alliance produces louder fan noise. This is normal: it draws more air to increase humidification. Most customers understand it's an evaporative fan system. No operational issue.
