USER MANUAL Thermopad 2260 Solis

DESCRIPTION OF APPLIANCE PARTS A Heating pad, consists of heating element and removable protective cover B Control unit with sliding switch for switching the appliance on and off and for selecting one of 3 temperature levels; with temperature level display C Power cord with power plug and connection adapter Read through this user manual thorough- ly before using your appliance Do not pierce the heating pad, or bring sharp objects near it Never operate the heating pad when it is folded up or crumpled Only use heating pad indoors This appliance must not be used for children younger than 3 Do not chlorinate or bleach the heating pad or bring it into contact with chlorine Do not iron the pad. 3. Before using the appliance, check that the volt-

age stated on the type plate of your appliance matches your mains voltage. We do not recom- mend operating the appliance with a multiway plug adapter.

4. Check your appliance before every use to make

sure that the appliance itself, the control, the power cord and the power adaptor/plug are without damage and no parts have come loose.

5. To prevent electric shock, do not use the appli-

ance if the cable, control unit, power plug, the appliance itself or the power adaptor are dam- aged or if the appliance has other faults, e.g. if the flow of heat is interrupted, the heating pad has fallen down resp. is damaged in any other way or if parts have come loose. Never attempt repairs yourself, but take your heating pad to Solis or a service centre authorized by Solis in order to get it inspected, repaired or mechan- ically and electrically maintained, in order to avoid a hazard.

IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Please read through this user manual thoroughly before using your heating pad, so that you can become familiar with your appliance and can use it safely. We thoroughly recommend that you keep these instructions and, if you pass the appliance on, that you also hand these instructions to the new owner. For your own safety, please observe the following safety measures when using electrical appliances:

1. To avoid electric shock, neither the heating pad,

power cable, control, power adaptor nor plug are allowed to come into contact with water or other fluids. Also, when washing, make sure that the control has been removed along with the power cable!

2. Do not operate the appliance resp. pull or con-

nect the plug with wet or moist hands or feet.7574 DGB GBGB residual current device (RCD safety switch) to ensure additional protection during the use of electrical appliances. It is advisable to use a safety switch with a rated residual operating current of 30 mA maximum. For professional advice consult an electrician.

13. Make no changes to the appliance, control,

cable, plug or power adaptor.

14. Only use the heating pad with the control and

protective cover provided.

15. Children are not allowed to play with the pad

or use it unsupervised. The pad must not be used for small children under the age of three, for children over the age of three, general su- pervision by an adult is necessary during use, a low temperature setting should be selected. We recommend that children under 8 years of age should generally not operate the heating pad. Pets should not come into contact with the ap- pliance.

6. Do not leave the power cable hanging over ta-

ble edges to prevent the appliance from being pulled down. Make sure that neither the ap- pliance nor the power cord or plug comes into contact with hot surfaces such as hotplates or a radiator.

7. Never carry the appliance by the power cord

and do not place anything on the power cord. Never pull on the power cord to disconnect the appliance from the power mains. Only pull on the plug.

8. Do not fold or clamp the power cord.

9. During use the control is not allowed to lie on

or under the pad or be otherwise covered.

10. Never lay the pad on hot surfaces or bring the

pad into contact with them.

11. Do not use the appliance outdoors.

12. Unplug the appliance when it is not in use or un-

19. Never place the heating pad such that it could

fall into water (e.g. next to a bathtub, swimming pool, whirlpool etc.). Danger of electric shock!

20. Never switch the pad on in a damp environment

(e.g. bathroom) or when the protective cover is damp. The appliance must always be completely dry before you switch it on.

21. During thunderstorms, disconnect the appliance

from the mains and do not use it.

22. Never use the appliance in rooms with flamma-

ble or explosive materials or liquids such as, for example, deodorant or hairspray.

23. Never put safety pins or other sharp objects in

17. Incorrect use may cause injury!

18. Never reach for an appliance that has fallen into

water or other liquids. Always use dry rubber gloves to pull the plug before taking it out. Do not start using it again before having it checked for functionality and safety by Solis or a service centre authorized by Solis.7978 DGB GBGB

  • Should you feel unwell or ill while using the pad, switch off the appliance immediately and set it aside.
  • The electronic elements in the control (switch) lead to a slight warming of the control (switch) during use. The control must never lie on or underneath the pad and must never be cover- ed by blankets, pillows or similar items. Nor should you put anything on it, lie down or sit on it.
  • Do not use the heating pad on an adjustable bed.
  • Make sure not to sleep on the heating pad.
  • Never switch the appliance off by pulling the plug. Always set the sliding switch to OFF set- ting at the very bottom first, then pull the plug.
  • When using temperature settings 2 and 3, do not use the pad for longer than 2 hours. Pro- longed use could lead to burnt skin or cause overheating and damage your appliance. Also,

appliance! Observe the following when using the heating pad:

  • Should you be unsure or need advice on whether the use of a heating pad is good for your health, please consult your doctor.
  • Should you notice any continuing pain in your muscles and joints, you should also consult your doctor. These could be signs of serious illness.

  • For your safety, the heating pad is fitted with overheating protection. A reliable electronic controller ensures that the temperature does not exceed each chosen heat level and thus prevents overheating of the appliance.8382 DGB GBGB
  • Push the sliding switch up one level, to the po- sition 1. The figure “1” lights up in the display. You can feel the heating pad warm up after a few minutes.
  • If you want a higher temperature setting, push the switch up to the next position. The figure “2” lights up in the display. If you want to se- lect the maximum temperature setting, push the switch to the uppermost position so that “3” lights up in the display.
  • Should the heating pad get too warm, push the switch back down to the “2” or “1” position. The pad will noticeably cool down after a few minutes.
  • If you want to switch the appliance off, push the switch all the way down, the figure in the dis- play goes out. Disconnect the power plug from the power socket.
  • Note: The heating pad reaches the set temper- ature only after approx. 15 minutes. Therefore, check the temperature after 15 minutes with the back of your hand to make sure that it feels
  • You can use the heating pad to warm up and relax. It is equipped with a sliding temperature switch, allowing you to select one out of three heating settings to find a temperature that feels nice to you. OVERHEATING PROTECTION For your safety, the heating pad is equipped with overheating protection. An electronic con- trol device makes sure that the temperature of the selected temperature level is not exceeded, preventing the appliance from overheating.

  • Always let the heating pad cool down com- pletely. Caution: The heating pad has to be completely dry and cool before you fold and/or store it.
  • Do not place anything on the heating pad while it is in storage. The storage space should be dry, clean and not exposed to direct sunlight. comfortable to you. If necessary, set the sliding switch to a higher or lower position.
  • Caution: Prolonged use on the highest temper- ature setting “3” can cause burns on sensitive skin! If you want to use the heating pad for longer periods of time, we recommend using the temperature setting “1”.

3. Wash the cover and the heating element either

on the delicate cycle of the washing machine at a max. temperature of 30°C or hand-wash both items in lukewarm water. To do that, place the heating element and the cover in the bathtub, add lukewarm water and a small amount of mild detergent and carefully squeeze it out. Caution: Never crease or wring out! After that, rinse both items repeatedly in lukewarm water until all detergent residues are washed out. Leave both parts to air dry, lying flat on a towel. No items must be placed on the heating element or the cover.

4. When the heating element and the cover are

completely dry, pull the cover back over the heating element and connect the connection adapter to the socket. You can now start using the appliance again or put it into storage.

  • The cover and the heating element can be washed on the delicate cycle of the washing machine at 30°C or by hand. Wash the cover separately or with similar colours as it might stain. To do that, please proceed as follows:

1. Before washing, the power plug has to be dis-

connected from the power socket. Let the heat- ing pad cool down for at least 10 minutes.

2. Now, disconnect the connection adapter from

the socket on the heating element and take the power cord with the control element off the heating pad. Caution: Power cord, control element, connec- tion adapter and power cord must never come into contact with water!8988 DGB GBGB
