Yes, the FRITZ!Repeater 1200 AX is compatible with any WiFi router that supports WPS. It will adopt the router's WiFi name and password.
How to connect the repeater via a LAN cable?
Plug in the repeater, connect it to your computer via the Ethernet cable, go to http://fritz.repeater in a browser, follow the wizard and select LAN Bridge mode. Then, connect the repeater to your FRITZ!Box via cable.

Press and hold the Connect button for at least 6 seconds until the LED flashes quickly. The repeater restarts with factory settings.
What do the LED indicators mean?

Can I connect a wired device to the repeater?
Yes, the LAN port allows connecting non-WiFi devices (console, TV, etc.) to the home network via the repeater.
How to update the repeater's firmware?

How do I restore the connection with my AVM FRITZ!Repeater 1200 AX when it is no longer connecting?
Frequently Asked Questions - 21/04/2026
Response Notice-Facile

When your AVM FRITZ!Repeater 1200 AX loses its Wi-Fi connection, the indicator light will help you diagnose the problem. If the light is blinking slowly (every 2 seconds), the repeater is not connected to your Wi-Fi router. If the light is off, Wi-Fi may not be enabled. If the light is blinking rapidly, an operation is in progress (WPS, reboot, or update).

Start with a simple restart: unplug the FRITZ!Repeater 1200 AX from the power outlet, wait 10 seconds, and then plug it back in. Wait for the light to blink slowly before proceeding to reconnect. If that is not enough, use the WPS procedure (the fastest): press the Connect button on the repeater for 1 second (the light blinks rapidly), then within 2 minutes, briefly press the WPS button on your router. If your router has a Connect/WPS button, press it briefly; if it has a WLAN/WPS or WLAN button, press it for about 6 seconds until the WLAN light blinks. As soon as the repeater's light stays on continuously, the connection is established.

If the WPS procedure does not work, use the web interface of the FRITZ!Repeater. Plug the repeater into a socket, connect it directly to your computer via an Ethernet cable (or via Wi-Fi if you have access to its backup network), then type http://fritz.repeater in your web browser. You can also use the IP address 192.168.178.1. Follow the setup wizard to enter the Wi-Fi name and password of your router.

For a complete reset, press the Connect button on the repeater for 15 seconds (until the light blinks rapidly) to restore factory settings. You will then need to reconfigure the Wi-Fi connection with your router according to the WPS procedure described above. Once the connection is established, the FRITZ!Repeater and your router automatically restore the connection, even after repositioning.

Also check the position of the repeater: place it halfway between your router and the devices you want to cover, away from metal obstacles and interference areas. If the connection quality remains poor, move the repeater closer to the router or use the FRITZ!AppWLAN app (free for iOS and Android) to find the optimal location.
